Wouldnt you like to be a vaga too?
not whining about the ship, just the complete lack of originality and the boringness (is that a word?!) of seeing vagas everywhere now.
Yesterday say a group of five vagas jump into a 0.0 system and duke it out with another group, all vagas.
Today saw another gang jump into our 0.0 system, all vagas.
In fact, with the exception of an occational curse or zealot, ive seen nothing but vagas in the last 3 weeks.
vagas vagas vagas.
have you no sport!? lol. dont take this too seriously, just trying to brush that chip off my shoulder, heh.

Where are you flying? I'm not seeing nearly as many Vagabonds on my neighborhood as you are in yours. Nothing but Vagas? Really?
I find that hard to believe...

believe it sister!
im stationed ina 0.0 sys 30+ jumps from empire, and since the surrounding area is under friendly influence, we tend to get attacked by roaming seek and destroy gangs, which means vagas.

He lives in one of those exclusive neighborhoods, where everyone has a vaga....which reminds me, my first car was a vega (1973) had to carry a case of oil in the back to keep it running. But, I digress....

Get a gang of Cerbs and/or nano sacs. You're vaga problem is no more. Rapier/huggins would make it that much easier.

yeah, it looks good on paper, but in the spur of the moment tends to be hard to find enough rapier and hac pilots on at the same time (they obviously know our downtime cuz hey always come when we have little pple on). but like i said, i take eve for what it is so im not losing any sleep over it, just would like to see some more diversity instead of everyone around my sys joining in on the vaga-fad.

Vagabonds are popular, as well as nano, because they're one of the few ships left that can be fun and effective to fly alone/in small groups. The rest of it is blobs, or stuff that will run into a blob very soon.

as much as I wanna argue w/ ya, i cant, your right. The nano ships are pretty damned fun for solo and small gangs. Maybe if we had some webs with better range (and no, im not talkin but overheated domination webs or some other specialty item that 1 on 100 ppl have), but maybe a good, named webber with like a 15km range, but im sure that would throw some other balance out of whack or this or that. for now ill just watch them as they pass by, and hope they run into an asteriod (heh, speakin of, would be pretty cool if u could take damage from colliding into objects like roids and bigger ships EVE!! It's a combination of factors.
Invention ... no need to dwell on that one, but vagas are cheap now.
Uniqueness ... Take for instance a deimos, a zealot, a muninn and even a cerberus. All have varying degrees of tank/gank, or medium ranged/sniping abilities, and of course, slightly different weapon systems, but they provide the same kind of hard hitting, well tanked ships (for their size at least)
Even if you go up to CS, the field command ones are all racial variants of the old tank and gank build.
the vagabond is the only T2 ship built for speed, there is simply no alternative. (you can nano pretty much everything with snakes and faction, but that hardly counts)
Territorial Protection ... Not really a secret there, but if you live in 0.0 and are serious about pvping there, you'll encounter camps, bubbles and dictors (we can also expect heavy dictors to bloom there). If you don'twant to waste your time and get podded, you need a ship able to break through one of these camps and survive to wreak havoc behind enemy lines. You also need a ship that can do a u turn and GTFOwhen you've stepped over the anthill and locals form up. Alternative being blobbing, but that ain't so much fun.
I'm not blaming anybody and tbh, my last 40 kills or so have been using a vaga. But it's simply the undisputed king of the hill when it comes to skirmish and hit and run. That's also the only minmatar ship true to our speed philosophy and probably the best designed in the game stat wise (No matter how annoying this ship is, it's remarkably balanced considering the survivability/dps/tankability balance) Each ship requires certain player skills, droneships require micromanagement, Inties require good reflexes and manual piloting skills, when it comes to vaga, you need to know when to engage and when to bail, and the rest follows.

I call em Vag-Bands. Everyone and their Vag. Vags tend to flock together. Try to take care of each other... they need a knitting or macrame skill tree...
Awesome thing about ****** Vags (not EVERYONE who flys a vagabond is a vag- just most of em) is that once you pop em, u can ask em in local if their vag hurts...

Edited by: Guillame Herschel on 07/12/2007 01:19:20 Isn't a Fleet Stabber a viable alternative to a Vagabond? It isn't as fast comparing base speed, but it has one more rig slot and it's mass is only 8,000,000kg. It also has much more armor, shields and structure than the Vagabond. It lacks the falloff bonus and damage bonus of the Vagabond, but it has one extra missile slot over the Vaga and regular Stabber.
I've rigged mine with 1 Aux Thruster, 2 Polycarbs, 2 Nanofiber T2 and 2 OD T2, and it reaches 5,000 m/sec before any implants, using a a T2 MWD.
Fleet Stabber is also about 20 million cheaper than a Vaga. I got mine for 70 mil.

Caldari HAC's kill careless vaga pilots.
Yes, even the Eagle. Never underestimate the tracking potential of railguns in the hands of someone who knows what he's doing, has the skills and remembers that speed fitted ships have poor tanks. Antimatter ammo to 27km is always nice.
As for a nano-cerb, well bye bye mr vagabond. "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" |

Its decent, but dont compare it to the vaga. Vaga blow it away and tbh vaga is cheaper...3* polycarb arent cheap, compared to 2 polycarb. _________________________________________________ Breetime

It works, but lacks the range / damage output a Vaga has. On the upside, I believe it's slightly more agile and you could actually make it work without polycarbons if you're worrying about pricing (you'll get less topspeed). A falloff rig will greatly benefit your ship, ofc.
I've had a nano-Cynabal (lost it in a night of drunken piracy, but it paid itself off) which cost 100-110M tops with rigs, modules and everything with relatively cheap rigs and it was a preety nice ship. Minus point was craptastic damage and lack of buffer compared to a Fleet Stabber, but what it did have over typical stabber/vaga fits is a recon probe launcher for those nasty safespotters
