and clevermonkey....i agree with you. I didn't upgrade (thankfully) for some odd reason and happened (thankfully) for some odd reason to come the website. But I sure as heck probably would have had the same thing happen to me. So I feel ya and people like that moron above need to understand that alot of people use their computers for business and other important thigns as well.

also, ccp, in a smart move, should rename the whole upgrade line "Inity"
on a lil sidenote:
my girlfriend, who can get jealous about eve, WILL LOVE this story. CCP killing their customers puters for a day or so...
first she will be all like "booooring" while im going to try to convince her to listen to the story about the backslash (slash? i never can tell em apart ). but soon she will realize that programmers stuff and snafus can be fun.
and then she will think of all the nerds, that shake their fists in rage. and she will be happy.

I was also one of those affected, but some managed to put boot.ini back from a backup file or something, i had to reinstall my windows. Lucky for me i had all my hard work on my mac os so i just lost some movies i had, some music, and that's it.
About the naming of the event, i think you just named it in the title of this thread :) THE BOOT.INI EVENT or TB.IE :lol:
I think someone has to do a movie on this event, as no other game producer ever managed to ruin whole computers like CCP did. A movie called THE BOOT.INI MASSACRE :)
