Well my machine can run 5 clients at once all at 90fps, while I'm running Firefox, Halflife 2 and Stalker.
How about actually helping the guy, like I tried to?
I kinda started it, but I was asking help for windowed mode. Let me clarify my problem, if I only run ONE INSTANCE of eve.exe, one client, in fullscreen I get ~150fps. If I window that client without starting up a 2nd, my fps still drops to ~15fps no matter the settings in premium options. ---------------------------------

There's another thread where someone mentioned nHanser, an nVidia settings tweaker. Find that thread and there are instructions and screenshots for how to get AA and HDR at the same time.
Is anyone else getting better framerate OUTSIDE the station? I'm getting about 25-30 fps in station and 40-50 outside.

I currently run a two monitor setup. When I run Eve in windowed mode, two clients, one on each screen, I get 40 or so FPS on each screen in space. However, I have to make sure that the clients are each conpletely on their own monitor, such that the edge of the client running on the left monitor isn't being displayed on the right monitor, which is what happens with the default window placement.
Having this kind of overlap cuts me down to 12-15 fps.
So, uh, make sure that isn't happening.

Like I said, I could just run ONE client, and window it, and it cuts me down to 15fps. No sceond client running at all. Thx for the tip tho. ---------------------------------

Forgive me, in the future I will simply say nanny nanny boo boo and make funny faces. I wasn't trying to threaten anyone's e-ego, just trying to point out that neither the client itself , nor my normal background applications appear to be slowing down my Eve performance.
Is it magic? No, I have current drivers and a working knowledge of most of the hardware in my own PC, but have no idea the status of the OP's OS, drivers, BIOS or other contributing factors.

There are other, more complicated things you can do, but this is an easy boost.

Snakey, I think the point the more enlightened posters here are making is that with that same equipment most everyone is getting outstanding performance.
I would suggest looking at your settings and see if one of the modifications you have made is not agreeing with Trinity... although you alluded that EVE wasn't performing very well for you even before Trinity.
I doubt its the overclocking you have done, but it is a possibility. I'd more likely suspect your Anti-aliasing settings perhaps not getting along well with the Trinity engine. Play with it a bit, I think you'll probably find settings that will work much better than what you are currently experiencing.
No epeening here, just trying to be helpful.

I run Eve on a 3.0 GHz Xeon 5160 Dual Core with 3 GB of memory running WinXP Pro. Until Trinity I had been running up to seven Eve windows using a graphics card with NVIDIA PX7600 GT chipset and 256 MB. Since Trinity I am lucky to be able to run two Eve windows, maybe three when set to "classic" graphics. The PC semi-locks with an hourglass mouse pointer, total freeze for about 8 seconds out of every 10, and complete inability to select any window, click any button, or even bring up Task Manager. The only way out is to force power down the machine. I just went out and bought a $300 8800 GT graphics card with 512 MB. If that doesn't solve the problem and/or CCP doesn't make the new client more PC-friendly in coming weeks I will have little incentive to continue with Eve.

I have an Athlon64 3500+, 1GB of RAM and a GeForce7900GT. Trinity runs just fine for me at 1680x1050. Premium content on, shadows are on high, HDR on, bloom high, cache size normal.
Haven't directly tested the FPS but it's certainly around 30 at least. And ugh to those who whine about it, 20ish FPS is totally playable.

Interesting. I got P4 3.06 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 7600GT, clients run at 1280x1024. FPS with 1 client: 5-10. That's with HDR and trinity stuff disabled!
Before patch: 40+ FPS.
Which driver version do you use with your GFX board?

Ok, I have just about the same system currently: P4 2.8 HT, 4gb, 6800 GT. I'm getting 60-70fps in station and 40-50fps in space (with a few peaks). This is in windowed mode btw, I'm sure fullscreen would be better. Shadows are set to High, cache is set to Extreme, and HDR is off.
Two suggestions: a) get more RAM, I was at 2gb and EVE got poky even before Trinity with the 4gb I have now it's not an issue; b) turn off the widescreen mode, in fact I'd suggest you lowering your resolution since 1600x1200 is really pushing it, I'm running at 1280x800 (windowed) and the graphics are snappy. What was really odd is that widescreen option, it was doing all kinds of weird stuff and messing up the graphics (overlays were not syncing) so I'd turn that mode off if you have it on.
Hope that helps.
Peace.

Me too but only got an old 6600LE and it can't really run, perhaps 10-15fps and that's in unpopulated scenes in a quiet system. There are some weird glitches, I got the instation fps lower than the outstation one too, and the rclick menu on my ship not showing up. And my 'default' setting in overview now displays Veldspar. Classic runs fine as far as I can tell though

Edited by: Cpt Branko on 07/12/2007 09:12:48 I don't know. My machine runs premium graphics content (with HDR off) very smoothly using a old X1550-based gfx. Everything is fine, basically, and graphics are much better.
Still using a 3.2Ghz P4 machine (one of the latest P4s, though), so I don't get anyone having problems on a core-due unless their system is clogged up by tons of unecessary junk or something.
And people who need three EvE clients running at the same time are really meh.

Well, I don't know what your system is like, but I can promise you that it's not CCP screwing up. My laptop is 2.5 years old - only 1.8ghz and an X300 card - and it can run the new classic engine at resolutions far superior to what used to be possible (in particular, 1280x800 -> 1680x1050, with 1920x1200 being perfectly playable when away from particularly busy scenes).
