More like an ID-10-T failure... I run the upgraded graphics on two clients in windowed 1680x1050 without too much grief. Average FPS is around 20, which is more than enough for PvE, and when PvP calls, I drop the industrial/mining alt, and go full windowed for 30+. I have shadows and bloom off with both using large caches.
My worst headaches are when I run two clients, iTunes, and MSIE (with EVERY security feature running at the most draconian level) simultaneously. Then I get some freezing and the occassional crash to restart when my cable modem decides to flip me the bird.
This is a single core, 2.93GHz processor with PC2700 RAM (2.25GB) and a 512MB Radeon x1600Pro. Its nice, but its not some of these newer hotrods on the net, but it does the job better than some pretty spectacular machines I'm reading about. Some of the issues I'm seeing in the better machines sounds like a user who thinks a powerful machine is going to compensate for his incompetent handling of its resource management.
The bottom line is, you can stick and idiot in a Ferrari, but it ain't going nowhere fast if the idiot can't drive it properly.

haha
I am currently using a prebuilt system with 1gig ram, low spec P4 cpu, 6200 LE gfx card...
30~80 fps average is probably around 40~50 using classic client.
Playable for me, new classic client is actually performing a bit better than it used too

I'm only using a 3800 X2 and it's perfectly playable on all 3 clients at once, not sure what your issue is.
