And I'd really like to use my alt in cov ops to explore/scout for my main.
I'm not using windowed mode, I just alt-tab back and forth.
I haven't tried windowed mode, but it wouldn't surprise me that it's slower. A lot of games have lower FPS in windowed mode for whatever reason (WoW for example).
That is a native issue with all the OS rendering system. you cannot avoid it.

Thought I might as well add, being a nooblins.
My PC is ****. Plainly, totally ****. If I run anything in the first 30mins of startup, it crashes because the monitor/graphics card needs to warm up.
It can BARELY run Eve, and if anything, my performance has gone up since pre-patch, I did not download the new graphics.
This computer was made in 1998 and has had one up upgrade. Its got a larger hard drive.
Btw, if I open the CDRW drive, it will crash the computer

Hm. Works fine for me with dual core 64 and 2 gb ram on my Laptop. Freaking video card is just onboard ****. Shouldn't probably work but it does. And the laptop only cost me 800 bucks! Gotta love that graphic download its like a whole new universe. SO rad.

You fail at computers. Unplug yours and give it to a worthy soul.
I've got a P4 2.93GHz, 2.25GB PC2700 RAM, and a 512MB Gfx card, and I run two clients in windowed mode more smoothly now than I did in Rev 2.

See if you have two display adapters listed on the Eve graphics option tab. Might be named exactly the same, but try switching to the "other one" for S&Gs.
Unlikely, but worth a shot.

Which kinda indicates the problem is with your rig, not eve. The usual fixes of defrag, latest versions of mainboard & video drivers, or format C:\ should boost your comps performance. --------------------------------- There's a simple solution to every problem. It is always invariably wrong |

Edited by: Benedic on 07/12/2007 17:20:15 2 clients is pretty much unplayable for me now, will probably keep training going on long skills to see if it improves at all - but for right now looks like I'll be expired-but-still-training a majority of the time.
As a side note, 2 instances of WoW run very easily on this machine in battlegrounds with 30-60 pcs in the near vicinity. Sad that I drop to 15fps outside of Rens on 2 instances just sitting there.

I have the drop in framerate on the second client that runs on a second monitor. Normally prepatch I had the second client set to the second graphics card in the settings. But since trinity all the settings for all clients seem to be connected. I cannot change the resolution or graphics card affinity for one only and have it stick. If I try to go into the second client and change it to the other graphics card output the client graphically bugs out after pressing apply. Thoughts on how to make the settings stick seperately for clients? |

I have a Phenom 9600, Asus M2N32-SLI mobo, 2GB PC6400 memory (atm), SATA II HDD's and dual XFX 8800 GTX graphics cards (SLi) running under Vista Ultimate 64-bit and I'm getting the same sort of troubles.
Fullscreen @ 1680 x 1050 with shader set to extreme / HDR enabled and bloom set to high I get approx. 200 FPS docked / 170 FPS in space.
Windowed @ 1440 x 900 with the same settings I get approx. 40 FPS docked and 20-30 FPS in space.
With more than one client, performance drops to 15-20 FPS per client and usually results in a complete system lockup.

Id point the finger at Vista 64 and not Eve tbh. Id suggest you try running a good stable OS and see if it performs better (id expect it would)
