General M0BIUS Caldari Caldari Provisions	Posted - 2007.12.07 13:46:00 - [1] Many people have been seriously put out buy CCPÆs latest patch. Some people are lucky that they either had Vista or had installed the game onto a separate hard drive but their are thousands of paying subscribers that woke up only to find that they had to rebuild their PC's not knowing that it was a matter of repairing the Boot.ini. And then their are those that are not Tech savvy and ended up taking their PC to some repair shop at a cost, then their are those who are maybe in trouble because the PC wasnÆt theirs in the first place, So many people put out. Though i'm sure the EULA covers CCP to a degree, I feel it would be good PR for CCP to offer something substantial to its subscribers affected or not by this issue. As far as I am aware of , this has got to be the biggest screw up any Software company has ever done in the history of computer gaming.

Guild Wars content updates are free unless you buy the extra continents. World of Warcraft are a rip of but you can be pretty sure that they test them properly before going gold. Eve is one of the more exspencive Online games at 14.95 euros. thats probly why content updates are "Free"

We got 24hrs added to every subscription as a result. CCP didn't have to do this, it was a goodwill gesture. That problem affected everyone in the game, the BOOT.INI issue affected a minority of people in a very unique set of circumstances; you cant do a blanket reimbursement (if any were warranted, which it isn't), and a month is just rediculous. ==============================================

Yes, I remember this when Exodus came out and that was nothing compared to CCPs screw up this time. If you don't want to be reimbursed for lost time, forget about it, for the rest I urge you to get some customer service.

Had to? So just because you can't immediately understand the cause of a problem in a situation the first thing you should do is panic and take the most severe action you can think of? They could buy many new servers to upgrade the cluster fighting against lag. I would prefer that (because lag = no fun) instead of saving one month of subscription fee.

And it has a free to play option too.

This issue only effects people that had an extremely funky boot situation. My setup is a Raid 0 setup, which was said to be a problem, and I was fine. The problem is only when people have multiple hard drives and the boot drive is NOT drive 0. The only people that would have a setup like this are people that would likely be able to fix this issue. Nobody in my corp had any issues what so ever nor do I know anyone in game that has had any problems. Also this is not the biggest screw up ever. On slash dot they are talking about a game that reformatted your harddrive when you tried to uninstall it. HOWEVER. I am not bashing your opinion of the seriousness of the issue. Even one person being unable to boot as a result of a game patch is completely unacceptable. Before they make it up to us they need to ensure it never happens again by RENAMING EVE'S DAMN BOOT FILE. A backslash should NEVER cause an error this evil. Fixing the problem and ensuring it never happen again is the best way to apologize for an epic fail.

Making Trinity was was just a paint job, was their any new content in this update or was it just a paint job. still at the end of the day it screwed up alot of PC's

If i was not one of the tech savy internet nerds i would have had to take my computer to a workshop, where they would have had to reinstall the os for me. That would cost me at bare minimum 150$. Then they would most likely charge me extra because i have a raid setup (nothing fancy, just a striped one) which most likely is the cause for my crash. Instead i wasted 2 hours of my very expensive and precious time doing it myself, running a lengthy repair instead of full install. Would you think that it would be fair, if it happened to you?
