I had this problem with 1 of my two characters, the other one could log in with no problems
I tried ending all processes in my taskmanager i was comfortable with, including virus scanner. And that just worked for me

so i am now thinking this has something to do with either my graphics card (nvidia 8800gts) or dual core as i was able to load up trinity on my old computer which is a p4 2.4 with a radeon x850.
anyone out there with a dual core 6400 and a 8800gts having the same problem? (or similar set up)
thankfully i have set a long training time but not heard back on my technical petition.

right it now seems to be fixed for me at least. replaced my Direct x (which seemed to be corrupted) and completly turned off my firewall which although had eve fully enabled access seemed to be the main problem.
Try doing it yourself to see if that does it.

Same problem here under Vista with Comodo Firewall, after I just upgraded to premium content. (And a paying account.) I'll try if it persists before I deactivate my Firewall.
(And seriously, I can't believe I'd have to deactivate the firewall just to play even especially when it worked perfectly fine with the rial account before the update. Gah... )

Same problem, on all alts It's the third time this happens btw - in all cases, couldn't log in for the whole evening
This has nothing to do with Jita - the "Entering station..." bar shows up only at a later stage.
Is there a way to vote on petitions or bug reports? it seems to be affecting quite a few people...

Found the cause of the problem, it appears to be to do with your settings - anything that 'helps' the problem is either luck or coincidence, just not sure why!
I ran log server and the game was always hanging when trying to access Vivox (ie Eve Voice). I'm not sure if this is because I have audio disabled, or if it's a problem with Eve Voice itself.
To solve the problem, login, then hit 'Escape' on the character selection screen, the audio tab will then allow you to disable Eve Voice.

hey ppl, what the hell... I'm running the new client on an Medion PC wich has a Dual core E 4400 at 2.0 ghz, 1024 ddr 2 ram, on a Sparkle Nvidia FX 6600 128 bit PCI express graphicks card, and XP sp2 ( buffed with sp 3), sound chipset: Realtek HD onboard and I get the same problem I enter the client, it logs me in, I select my character and the it hangs up at "entering the game as..." WTF? after 2 minutes it say's "connection with the server lost"... or it crashes... the funny thing is, while in the "entering as.." screen if I press windows key, before minimyzing to the task bar I can see a fikr of the game (my ship and menu)background like... **** man.. I've tried every solution.... nothing.. PLZ HELP... I intend to by it and want to be sure it works...

edit: it can be blocked with another software.. check your router as well if you have one.
The problem is client side.

i am having the same problem, after this patch today i cant log in. i am running old classic graphics content, i have windows 200 pro, i have trend micro antivirus which i have disabled and still have the same problem, i have another computer on the same network that can log in going thrue the router jest fine. everything was working yesterday jest fine only difrence is todays patch. wtf!!
i get to the select character screen and total game lockup, sometimes it shows the character pics but not normaly. in the audio tab there is no eve voice, hell i have audio diabled.

I had the same problem and found by turning Kaspersky off while (exit Kaspersky) while logging-on worked fine. Turning it back on afterwards seemed to have no impact on the game.
On the Kaspersky forums, there is a question posted about 'parental controls' being turned on. Will check this tonight

My main character was in Jita system when I logged out earlier today. Now the game "hangs" at the "Entering game as..." screen. I say it "hangs" but really it just does notthnig because I can bring up the escape menu and change the graphics and other settings but the game goes nowhere.
My guess is that this will probably fix itself during the sheduled down-time tomorrow at 11?
Perhaps there is a problem with Jita system?
Any devs posted on this yet?

I am having the same problem today - just can't log on. It seems like it must be server side - my Internet is fine and my computer hasn't changed from the day before. New computer too so definitely no problem there. Seems like they should try upgrading the Jita node or whatever with a Fusion-io 640Gb hard drive...

I can confirm that turning off Eve Voice fixes this problem.
To be precise, this is a bug with stalling at Entering Game if you have Kaspersky activated, and Eve Voice as well. It does not stop you getting into Eve all the time, but most of the time it does. It certainly makes it take much longer even if you do get in. Turning off Eve Voice removes this problem completely. It is a an issue with a recent Kaspersky database update. Now we need a dev attention to this thread.

ok i got kaspersky aswell.
keyboard input does not work at all anymore on my laptop...so i cant even enter my password at login screen. on my second pc i have to deactivate kaspersky to get past the entering as screen. no. of bugs are getting rediculous in this patch...how about employing more beta-testers ccp.

From what I can gather there is a clash between Kaspersky antivirus and the Eve client, this can be fixed by simply adding the eve.exe and ExeFile.exe files to the trusted list for said antivirus program.
This may not solve everyones issue here but it is an example of how your local settings may be affecting the client, filing bug reports with all logs and info included is important in these cases since there is no way for us to test every single combination of hardware or software.
Thanks to everyone that has been helping out in this thread, trying to help their fellow player (and us poor QA) find the root of the problem

i do not have this program but i am having issues no the less. i am stuck at the "entering game as..." screen for a while now. i have tryed deleting the cache folder like the sticky said but no luck. i get stuck on it seemingly forever and if i press ESC to quit the game crashes and i have to force close the game file.

i think i was one of the first that said that disabling kaspersky or adding the exe files to the trusted zone would resolve the problem.. i was right at the time.. but i'm not sure if it corrects the problem now, at least not at 100%. it seems now that sometimes it enters the game, some times it doesn't. when it doesn't, i have to try one or two more times to make it succeed. Sometimes it enters at the first try, with no problems. I tried the other tip some users were talking about, disabling eve voice.. the game now has a 100% success rate entering the game. how weird :|
this is at most, very strange .. these solutions don't work for a lot of users i'm still betting it's client side though..
(yes i know.. my english amazes even me )

Then you have a different entering game as issue. This thread I think now specifically discusses the Eve Voice/Kaspersky issue. And I have Eve's executable as a trusted application. It's still Eve Voice.
How can I log an attempted log on with Eve Voice activated for you, mr Dev person?

Ok, deactivating eve voice seemed to work for me as well. I can now launch eve with kaspersky.
Any progress made by someone on using eve voice and KAV at the same time ? Is there a specific application for eve voice we could configure in Kaspersy ?
At least, I feel a little safer than when playing without any AV running :-)

hm i got the same problem since today, i got no kaspersky and eve voice is turned off. the entering game as bar loads up til its full and then just stays there. if i wait long enough it will drop me back to the character selection screen. i tried switching off my antivirus but to no avail. the windows firewall is already turned off.

I had this same issue. Only way I found to get around it was that I had to turn off Premium Settings. This however now only happens if I log out while in station.
Not sure if it's the exact issue for you guys but if I have Premium on since last patch, I can't dock or login while in a station.

I am having the same issue. I do not have that AV program, I have AVG. Disabling eve voice did not work. Disabling high quality graphic pack did not work. Logging in as a character NOT in Jita did work. This appears to be Jita lag.

I accidentally jumped into Jita and now I'm having the same problem. It's "hanging" on the character loading screen. I let it go for about 20 minutes and part of the HUD shows up, but there is no functionality. I've never encountered lag so bad that it completely disabled my character. I hope no one smartbombs the gate on the other side for kicks, because I assume that's where my ship is floating??

Ive noticed recently that after I re-installed BOINK (The Serch for SETI screensaver / application) that my client would hand at login. As soon as the BOINK software was disabled the client resumes and login is fine.
Looks like no little grren men hunting for me any more!

Logged out in one of Jita's stations.
Tried to log in for 3 hours, i succeeded once. Opened my cargo (waited 1 minute to have it opened), then tried to undock. And got stucked. Closed EVE, then tried to log back - no luck there...
I turned off eve voice, all audio and added eve.exe and exefile.exe to my Kasper. Did not work for me.
*Sigh*
Ill go play WoW to pwn with my 70 lock MWAHAHAHA...
*cry* resolve this problem plx
