hi guys,
installed trinity yesterday, everything was working as intended.
Just came home from university and tried to login, still trying, eve gets stuck at "Entering game as ..." with 0 CPU usage and 169mb ram used.
This happens at all of my accounts and characters.
Anyone out there that can help me?

The ram being used by "Exefile.exe" varies but CPU usage is at 0 and eve does not respond to any commands, whenever I try to close the task windows tell me that the program does not respond.
WTF, why does it work yesterday and today its screwed?

Sorry to hear this, but at least I am not alone 
I already thought wether I am stupid or something, downloading the client again because stupid me deleted it yesterday after everything worked out good.
Will update when I have reinstalled eve with new downloaded client.

well I got this problem yesterday,I reset up my windows and was glad to find I can log into the game. Sadly, I got disconnect and cant login to the game once again. I thinks it should be the server problem Hope eve team fix this soon.

URGENT UPDATE:
I just tried to log in again and now it works!
This simply HAS to be server side, I have changed zero on my computer nor with eve.
Don't mess around with your settings guys, its server side!

ANOTHER UPDATE:
I am still connected with one eve application running on Tassi, runs smooth and everything, like yesterday.
However, when I try to enter the game with my 2nd char "Kerri gan" she still has the same problem, stuck at entering game as ...
What the **** is this?
EDIT: I did not log out Tassi, I opened another eve application to try and login my alt!

Further investigations:
I have now closed the running eve application on Tassi and tried to relog with Tassi, was not possible.
I think there is some kind of random factor in this! Very interesing

Further investigations 2:
After closing -> restarting eve and trying to log in with Tassi a couple of time I was able to log in again.
There is definitly some kind of random factor in this, if you have the same problem try to login with your char a couple of times, you might get lucky and make it in doing a vital skillchange until this is fixed.
As soon as you are logged in everything runs as usual btw!

I have now tried it for another 5 mins or so to log in on my alt and Tassi, I couldn't manage to log in and now I am bored.
Gonna play some hellgate:london at least that one lets me log in 
CCP fix this or face lightning bolts coming out of my arse.

I managed to log in now.
Its really on the server side.
If during log-in cpu does not drop to 0, log in is successful

My son has this problem. But my accounts don't. weird. But the way we fixed his account is when the account hangs while trying to log in, I hit esc and lower the resolution down to the lowest setting. Apply the changes and quit the game. It started up at the new resolution and actually logged in. Reset the resolution back to the original setting and it's worked fine since then. We have logged in several times in a row and not had the problem. I am curious to see if this helps anybody else.

I had the same problem not being able to log in most of the time. After I deactivated my antivirus (Kaspersky in my case) everything worked fine again.

Having exact same problem. I also tried deactivating antivirus (also Kaspersky) but didnt help; also tried lowering screen resolution and that didnt help either.
Lucky I set a long skill. Cany anyone please help us figure this out?

Here is what I've found out.
There are definitely some problems while trying to connect to eve using
Outpost Firewall Pro ver. 3.51.759.6511 (462) (Windows XP SP2)I suppose it is not limited by this version and even not by this Firewall software. The reason for the connection problem is in my case some internet activities (while trying to enter the game "Entering game as ...") by eve which can not be recognized propably by the firewall software.
In case of Outpost there is a problem known as *learning mode problem*. The connection attempt of the eve apl. is blocked no matter if any rules for eve exist. You cann grand eve the full access - it would not help.

i have the same login problems and closing kasparsky didnt solve this for me,
hell its uninstalled now and eve still cant login due to what seem to be some wierd server side problem.
i have the same problem since trinity but there were holes in this server behaviour when i could connect eve repeatedly but i cant say it was 100% ok even when it did manage to connect.
whatever it is that causing me login problem i oready spent many hours becoz of it just trying to login for skill change.

today kasperski got update (AUTO update) after restart pc i can login with kasperski switched ON.
i had same problem and same solution till tommorow (exit antywirus before play eve)

i am having the same problem, i have avg antivirus and and comodo firewall, tried turning off avg which did nothing, and do not want to turn off the firewall (does allow eve) i have a dual core 6400, nvida 8800gts and 2 gig ram.
it has only once got past the entering game as lokig and then stopped and crashed entering station before even getting into the game properly.
could it be the dual core causing a problem as it seems to me that when it crashed the processing speed stops completly.
all advice would be welcome, thanks in advance.

Same problem here. Only started happening after I had to exit the game for the first time.
After that any subsequent attempt to log in it just hangs at the entering game screen. After a very long time it comes out to say connection lost... like some major time-out. i'm on latest client running vista x64

I had this problem with 1 of my two characters, the other one could log in with no problems 
I tried ending all processes in my taskmanager i was comfortable with, including virus scanner. And that just worked for me

so i am now thinking this has something to do with either my graphics card (nvidia 8800gts) or dual core as i was able to load up trinity on my old computer which is a p4 2.4 with a radeon x850.
anyone out there with a dual core 6400 and a 8800gts having the same problem? (or similar set up)
thankfully i have set a long training time but not heard back on my technical petition.

right it now seems to be fixed for me at least. replaced my Direct x (which seemed to be corrupted) and completly turned off my firewall which although had eve fully enabled access seemed to be the main problem.
Try doing it yourself to see if that does it.

Same problem here under Vista with Comodo Firewall, after I just upgraded to premium content. (And a paying account.) I'll try if it persists before I deactivate my Firewall.
(And seriously, I can't believe I'd have to deactivate the firewall just to play even especially when it worked perfectly fine with the rial account before the update. Gah... )

It's the third time this happens btw - in all cases, couldn't log in for the whole evening
This has nothing to do with Jita - the "Entering station..." bar shows up only at a later stage.
Is there a way to vote on petitions or bug reports? it seems to be affecting quite a few people...

Found the cause of the problem, it appears to be to do with your settings - anything that 'helps' the problem is either luck or coincidence, just not sure why!
I ran log server and the game was always hanging when trying to access Vivox (ie Eve Voice). I'm not sure if this is because I have audio disabled, or if it's a problem with Eve Voice itself.
To solve the problem, login, then hit 'Escape' on the character selection screen, the audio tab will then allow you to disable Eve Voice.

hey ppl, what the hell... I'm running the new client on an Medion PC wich has a Dual core E 4400 at 2.0 ghz, 1024 ddr 2 ram, on a Sparkle Nvidia FX 6600 128 bit PCI express graphicks card, and XP sp2 ( buffed with sp 3), sound chipset: Realtek HD onboard and I get the same problem I enter the client, it logs me in, I select my character and the it hangs up at "entering the game as..." WTF? after 2 minutes it say's "connection with the server lost"... or it crashes... the funny thing is, while in the "entering as.." screen if I press windows key, before minimyzing to the task bar I can see a fikr of the game (my ship and menu)background like... **** man.. I've tried every solution.... nothing.. PLZ HELP... I intend to by it and want to be sure it works...

you don't need do deactivate kaspersky, you can disable the web-antivirus module only, enter the game, alt-tab, and enable it again ;)
edit: it can be blocked with another software.. check your router as well if you have one.
The problem is client side.

i am having the same problem, after this patch today i cant log in. i am running old classic graphics content, i have windows 200 pro, i have trend micro antivirus which i have disabled and still have the same problem, i have another computer on the same network that can log in going thrue the router jest fine. everything was working yesterday jest fine only difrence is todays patch. wtf!!
i get to the select character screen and total game lockup, sometimes it shows the character pics but not normaly. in the audio tab there is no eve voice, hell i have audio diabled.

I had the same problem and found by turning Kaspersky off while (exit Kaspersky) while logging-on worked fine. Turning it back on afterwards seemed to have no impact on the game.
On the Kaspersky forums, there is a question posted about 'parental controls' being turned on. Will check this tonight

Edit: I have the same problem. It seems to be server side because I created a new character and I can play the game as that char without problems.
My main character was in Jita system when I logged out earlier today. Now the game "hangs" at the "Entering game as..." screen. I say it "hangs" but really it just does notthnig because I can bring up the escape menu and change the graphics and other settings but the game goes nowhere.
My guess is that this will probably fix itself during the sheduled down-time tomorrow at 11?
Perhaps there is a problem with Jita system?
Any devs posted on this yet?

I am having the same problem today - just can't log on.
It seems like it must be server side - my Internet is fine and my computer hasn't changed from the day before.
New computer too so definitely no problem there.
Seems like they should try upgrading the Jita node or whatever with a Fusion-io 640Gb hard drive...

I can confirm that turning off Eve Voice fixes this problem.
To be precise, this is a bug with stalling at Entering Game if you have Kaspersky activated, and Eve Voice as well.
It does not stop you getting into Eve all the time, but most of the time it does. It certainly makes it take much longer even if you do get in. Turning off Eve Voice removes this problem completely. It is a an issue with a recent Kaspersky database update. Now we need a dev attention to this thread.

ok i got kaspersky aswell.
keyboard input does not work at all anymore on my laptop...so i cant even enter my password at login screen.
on my second pc i have to deactivate kaspersky to get past the entering as screen.
no. of bugs are getting rediculous in this patch...how about employing more beta-testers ccp.

From what I can gather there is a clash between Kaspersky antivirus and the Eve client, this can be fixed by simply adding the eve.exe and ExeFile.exe files to the trusted list for said antivirus program.
This may not solve everyones issue here but it is an example of how your local settings may be affecting the client, filing bug reports with all logs and info included is important in these cases since there is no way for us to test every single combination of hardware or software.
Thanks to everyone that has been helping out in this thread, trying to help their fellow player (and us poor QA) find the root of the problem

i do not have this program but i am having issues no the less. i am stuck at the "entering game as..." screen for a while now. i have tryed deleting the cache folder like the sticky said but no luck. i get stuck on it seemingly forever and if i press ESC to quit the game crashes and i have to force close the game file.

i think i was one of the first that said that disabling kaspersky or adding the exe files to the trusted zone would resolve the problem.. i was right at the time.. but i'm not sure if it corrects the problem now, at least not at 100%. it seems now that sometimes it enters the game, some times it doesn't. when it doesn't, i have to try one or two more times to make it succeed. Sometimes it enters at the first try, with no problems. I tried the other tip some users were talking about, disabling eve voice.. the game now has a 100% success rate entering the game. how weird :|
this is at most, very strange .. these solutions don't work for a lot of users
i'm still betting it's client side though..
(yes i know.. my english amazes even me  )

Then you have a different entering game as issue. This thread I think now specifically discusses the Eve Voice/Kaspersky issue.
And I have Eve's executable as a trusted application.
It's still Eve Voice.
How can I log an attempted log on with Eve Voice activated for you, mr Dev person?

Ok, deactivating eve voice seemed to work for me as well. I can now launch eve with kaspersky.
Any progress made by someone on using eve voice and KAV at the same time ? Is there a specific application for eve voice we could configure in Kaspersy ?
At least, I feel a little safer than when playing without any AV running :-)

hm i got the same problem since today, i got no kaspersky and eve voice is turned off. the entering game as bar loads up til its full and then just stays there. if i wait long enough it will drop me back to the character selection screen. i tried switching off my antivirus but to no avail. the windows firewall is already turned off.

I had this same issue. Only way I found to get around it was that I had to turn off Premium Settings. This however now only happens if I log out while in station.
Not sure if it's the exact issue for you guys but if I have Premium on since last patch, I can't dock or login while in a station.

I am having the same issue. I do not have that AV program, I have AVG. Disabling eve voice did not work. Disabling high quality graphic pack did not work. Logging in as a character NOT in Jita did work. This appears to be Jita lag.

I accidentally jumped into Jita and now I'm having the same problem. It's "hanging" on the character loading screen. I let it go for about 20 minutes and part of the HUD shows up, but there is no functionality. I've never encountered lag so bad that it completely disabled my character. I hope no one smartbombs the gate on the other side for kicks, because I assume that's where my ship is floating??

Ive noticed recently that after I re-installed BOINK (The Serch for SETI screensaver / application) that my client would hand at login. As soon as the BOINK software was disabled the client resumes and login is fine.
Looks like no little grren men hunting for me any more!

Logged out in one of Jita's stations.
Tried to log in for 3 hours, i succeeded once. Opened my cargo (waited 1 minute to have it opened), then tried to undock. And got stucked. Closed EVE, then tried to log back - no luck there...
I turned off eve voice, all audio and added eve.exe and exefile.exe to my Kasper. Did not work for me.
*Sigh*
Ill go play WoW to pwn with my 70 lock MWAHAHAHA...

"How many characters that are locked out are in Jita?"

tried to use a jumpgate to Jita... thats when my problems occured. All my other characters seem fine. Its just the one who jumped to Jita that cant login.

Same here, one char on acct is in nullsec, logs in no problem. Other char is in Jita, stuck at 'entering game'. Also, it's Sunday, so suspect Jita cluster is overloaded. Tried deleting fonts folder, didn't fix. Weird thing is, EVE voice doesn't show up on Audio tab, so don't know what's up with that... But I suspect it's Jita.

Got the exact same problem and I also logged out in Jita. Made a new char and can play him just fine. But the player in Jita gets hanged up on entering game.

I'm having the same issue trying to undock from a station in Autama.
Stuck on "Entering game as...", even though the music is playing and by pressing escape I can see the options menu, log out, quit and all that.

Same problem, stuck on "Entering game as ........". Am currently in Jita on one of my very rare visits there - if this is the result then trips to Jita will be even rarer  Am waiting a response to petition regarding the problem.

I have been stuck in Jita for about 2 hours. I thought there was a sever crash or my client locked up. I could get into station view before, but now I can't even get the character to load (as others are experiencing). There were 1200 people in there yesterday and it was OK in and out, but today with 800 in system I'm stuck here. Just an observation.

Same problem here. Was jumping into Jita and the the system crashed.
CanŠt come in with my Char since then.

Same problem.
I jumped to Jita and my ship went through, but not my camera, and I was stuck. I logged off and when I try to log in it hangs at the entering game as... -
Ive tried all the fixes, antivirus/eve voice and its still freezing at login |

So I guess this isn't something they will fix tonight then? Damn, this sucks. Looks like my petition isn't registering on the petition page. Is that normal? I made it about a half hour ago. First time I have petitioned on the web site.

It's not just Jita, it's any system that currently shares Jita's node. As my main is in a system other than Jita and will not log in at all, but my alt logs in first time-every time.
Jita should be regularly purged of idlers and griefers, or better still just 'sploded altogether into a giant Jita-shaped hole. Or if they could atleast publish regular updates on which systems shared a node with it, then people could avoid them at peak times.
I was half way through a 9 jump journey and just happened to enter an afflicted system, now my night of Eve'ing is over. Fun fun fun.

I have exactly this problem. My alt can log in fine but my main char is stuck jumping between New Caldari and Jita

As far as I know, the problem comes from your connection + the place you're trying to log in at.
I once was in Jita and couldn't log in at home - stuck at entering game as. I went to my friend's place with different connection and I could easily log in. Later I went back home and again - couldn't log in.
So I'd say the problem comes from server side + your side of the connection. If your connection is weak sometimes or it takes long to log in to places with lots of people and high lag then don't log off in those places, otherwise you might have problems logging in later again.
