lol my prof. told us that when he was working PR for a big evil company, that they would even post all kinds of useless bug reports, just to keep the devs busy lol.
Game companies are so cute.

Haha, this place is very civil compared to what I experienced with WoW. Go check out a PvP realm forum for the most sandbox fighting though class forums come a close second with a mix of interclass (usually nerf threads) or intraclass (usually stfu nub threads).
There is very little worth reading on those forums. --------------------------------------------------------------------------

WoW forums are a LOT worse than these forums. This place is nice in comparison. However, no matter what game forum you read there will always be flames and calls for developer blood. No game is immune to these kinds of posts.

I can verify that star wars galaxies has the absolute worst forums on the internet... Not to say that the swg players don't have plenty of valid complaints, and not to say that several of their game-murdering devs probably do deserve to be smoking a turd in hell (to quote Robin Williams). I'm still pretty new to eve and I'm not one to complain about a game that I'm finding fairly enjoyable, but I'm seeing a lot of good content has been thrown out the window, and those playing styles really should be reinstated in some way before the veteren community becomes alienated entirely.
I think there are a lot of valid complaints in any game, and that the devs need to NOT make the kinds of mistakes that I've seen in other mmorpgs... I won't list them here out of respect for the op. However, I do encourage everyone to be their better selves on any mmorpg board if they want credibility and a reasonable response from those in charge. Post your complaints, just don't be volatile about it and positive changes may occur... hopefully... and then, sometimes not, sadly.

Starwars has a totally broken game so I am guessing their forums must be pretty negative, but to be fair they have way more to comaplain about!

This forum has been pretty nippy. WoW forums are more immature with the tons of "Do [x] to the person below" threads that litter the hole that is their forums. EvE forums are good if you ignore all but oope ___________________ I'm annoying |

As for attitude towards developers, only the SWG forums were worse. They also deserved it.

All mmo forums are full of whines, especially around patches. There never are grey areas only black/white.
In some ways the wow forums were worse as the whining about classes that were over/underpowered consumed the forums. But they usually deleted the "blizzard you suck" posts so on that front the forum looked cleaner. Originally by: Commodore Andrews It seems like more then half of the posts in the EVE forums are attacks of some sort against CCP. What kind of picture do you think it paints for potential new players exploring EVE on its forums? I have never played another PC MMOà are other MMO forums like this?

Seems to me CCP needs to pay more attention to what is fun, and not necessarily what is ôbalancedö. Not to be another player tossing fuel on the fire, but I have been playing for 3 years now, and over those years I have never seen the fun BEAT out of the game as hard as it has in the last 6 months. True, from the number of people I've seen who have said "I quit" after losing one ship or being podded the first time.
I don't see a point in creating an "OMG Nerfbat" thread, when a civil discussion would get a whole lot more solved. Of course most of you recognize me as a troll, but hey... sometimes it's deserved by the OP, and well sometimes... I just can't help myself. The forums here aren't all that bad to be honest, even if EVE is the first and only MMO I've found even remotely interesting. ____________________ Hi. I'm not an alt :)

Every forum complains to their MMO makers.. its par for the course..
However.. I do have to say.. this is, so far as I have found, to be one of the most newbie unfriendly forums ever. Its hostile and overly critical of any post whether it be a positive, negative or even a simple question..

Yeah , this forum went down the drain because of CCP , they got rid of ISD forum mods but didn't do much to improve the state of the forum themselves , damn slackers. They should pay more attention to the image of the game this forum projects , and work on some PR at least - daily unaddressed insults to their very staff , how sloppy is that ?

Eve wants to look good this is how they can do it...in the order of importance imo.
Be transparent in policy, actions and current focus. Stop being forum ****s in regards to free speech on the forums. Stop playing in Tranq. ACTUALLY FIX THE BUGS... Don't update, or nerf or balance, work on general stability for the next year. Actually ***** down on Bots...yes that's right spend money on actual people to do this.

You have no idea... It's been OVER 2 YEARS since the massive nerf, and a huge # of people still feel like they want SOE to burn in hell.
Real quick one more time for all you people who play MMOs and don't bother to learn anything about the industry or the companies who are making your games.
SWG's NGE = MANDATED BY LUCAS ARTS. SOE does not own SWG or the Star Wars license, and the licenser DEMANDED the changes or threatened to kill the game outright.
So go ahead and hate SOE or whatever, its popular amongst former SWG players, but you should hate Lucas Arts more.

I think the problem is the demographics of this game. We're very PVP elite heavy, and most of the players are single men between 16 and 25. Having more mature players on the one hand makes a better game, and even a better community, but I think *conjecture here* that when you mix our particular demographic with the particular play style of eve you get asshats on forums if you are a newb.

REPOST because the thread wound up locked while I was posting.
The negativity on the forums is the product of frustration with CCP's lack of clear and concise communication. When a major bug is found. You need to inform your community IMMEDIATELY. Not 12 or 24 hours later.
It's a major kick in the junk to spend hours, days, weeks working on something only to have it blown away because someone else was to lazy or nearsighted to bother mentioning the change to those it affects in advance.
Secondly, when a product becomes part of one's daily life you expect nothing but immaculate performance. EvE fails to deliver this on almost every level. Which is ironic considering it can easily become a game that demands your time every day to micromanage all of it's intricacies.
The blame for the bugs ultimately rests on the shoulders of the developers. After a peak into the programming habits of CCP devs (boot.ini) it's clear that there are some major flaws in design development and deployment. In software as complex as EvE you need to engineer your coding implementation in such a format that it eliminates the potential for bugs by design. Doing this eliminates the need for sophisticated, time consuming, and costly QA. Obviously not all of the developers are idiots. Some have key skill and vision which propel EvE onto good things. However, it only takes one worm to spoil an apple pie. There are some big time idiots and clowns on staff at CCP that make poor decisions.
CCP's upper management seems to utterly disregard this and continues to keep these errant members on staff (T-20 for instance spawned t2 bpos for himself on the live server). This is indicative of one of 2 things. CCP can't afford to lose these individuals or it's a sign of management that doesn't care.
They refuse to tell us so it rests on the players to make that decision. My personal opinion is that Helmar's a slacker and needs to axe some people. That opinion derives from the consistent failure of his subordinates.
Some players earnestly don't care. They just want to play the game. I think that's fair considering this is just a game. On the other hand if you plan on spending time and effort into creating a home hear in EvE you should consider the lively hood of the game itself. It's important to note that a company and a development staff that lacks vision or skill is one that's doomed to collapse eventually.

One that is very relevant to the game itself: rampant griefing, dissatisfaction and people getting very involved (i.e. emotional) about the game or leaving quickly.
Personally, I understand a lot of the whines, what I don't understand is all the flames against people who complain. There's a huge crowd that just comes on the forums to flame other people for not being fanbois/whatever.

Maybe, but you'd find those people on WoW forums or something, EVE is small and insignificant for any competing MMO to spend money on "griefing".

iit your getting flamed for talking about things to get flamed about.
its because this game has such large consequences for taking a ship out to play that it scares most care bears after a short peroid of time after they lose what ever expensive stuff they had.
