Meh.
This forum isn't so bad. I remember the Earth and Beyond forums. Now THERE was a bad, bad place to be! Of course, that game really sucked, so not surprising people had a few beefs with it.

Meh. At least they allow feedback instead of religiously deleting threads without anyone able to take onboard the mostly valid points alot of people have.... Sometimes the other players shouting down people with rather extreme viewpoints works alot better than them deleting the thread :o
I agree with you in principle mate, but I find topics turn from 'govern by consensus' to 'witch hunt' too easily. I prefer locks and bans. Kills ego.

Edited by: Kilostream on 10/12/2007 19:20:19 The forums have gotten negative, because CCP repeatedly and futilely nerfs our game - players no longer feel they are playing EvE thanks to CCP - they feel they are playing EvE despite CCP.
Castor and Kali patches appeared to be about adding content and ironing out bugs. Nerfs at that stage were pretty infrequent and when they did come, they were things like "thou shalt not be able to load cruise missiles in yer kestrel" which I think the playerbase largely saw eye-to-eye with CCP on things like that - a teensy weensy little frigate deploying the largest guided missiles available at that point? It did seem a little illogical.
Nowadays it seems that nerfs are being done out of sheer spite - for example "you can put stuff in yer hauler, but if you put yer hauler in a ship maintenance bay, it can't fit any stuff in it" This is illogical, as the inside of a hauler should be just as big and usable regardless of where it happens to be. One could understand if they made cargo space brought about by pilot skills unavailable when the ship was unpiloted and in a bay - but nothing at all? It's a c**ppy thing to do, there is no good reason for it, and it has alienated the playerbase on a fairly massive scale.
So yeah, I'd concur that the forums these days are pretty anti-CCP, and with good reason.

The SWG forums were awful. SOE deserved every letter of criticism.
WoW was just childish and pointless. Unlike the EVE forums people there would flame you for incorrect spelling. The EVE forum population gets major points from me based on the fact that this happens rarely if ever.
The most vitriolic forums I have ever experienced were from CoH(City of Heroes). They depressed me to the point that I lost interest in the game(It was also the worst "grind a thon" I ever experienced that was a major factor for me leaving the game)
And unlike EVE when you quit CoH,nobody could ask you for your stuff....what fun is that??
EVE forums are very mature and constructive in comparison to my experiences.
Just wondering however,as a forum could we all come up with another MMO to direct "whiners" to---->Hello Kitty and WoW have reigned too long?
Any ideas?

Did you play SWG when it first came out? They actually had to remove the General Forum. Something about it being the cesspool of the SWG forums. Nothing on the Eve-O forums comes close to that one.

Edited by: Andreus Ixiris on 10/12/2007 21:53:40 There would be much less negative forum posts if CCP's dev team had less inept, corrupt idiots who think the only way to fix a game imbalance is to nerf the offender to match everything else, rather than boost its contemporaries in other areas.
Sensor boosters and sensor damps were fine. Scripts should have been a way to specialise them, not a requirement to make them work at all.
CCP need to take a serious look at why there is so much negative feedback about them, and stop undertaking the actions that cause it. ----- The views expressed in these posts, while inarguably correct, are not neccessarily the views of my corporation or alliance.

They're automatic censoring script was insane too. Anyone else remember "pokemon" being censored?

I think the reasons this might be is:
1. Easy access to alts. 2. We only have one server, meaning a boost/nerf is hotly debated and tempers rise. 3. Goons .
Cheap. With the exception of the boot.ini fiasco (lets face it, CCP buggered that up hard), most goons have in general been fairly positive on CCPs direction post the "Titan i-win-button stupidity" fix.
That said, yes a few are annoyed about the current state of pos warfare and the aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa FIX THE BLOODY JUMPBRIDGES! ______ Unrepentant Southern Federation Cheerleader.

I'm fascinated. How does making changes you dislike make someone inept, corrupt and an idiot?

It's not just against CCP. You can't even ask a question in these forums without some immature, self-serving ass-wipe throwing around attitude. I really feel sorry for the folks who actually need help.
