Hi,
I wanted to take a moment here and make a small tribute to Garthagk, this week is his last working for CCP.
He is the person who brought us the API, he was the person who fought to get the most wanted features and to my knowledge the only developer behind it. Working side by side with the eve community to a level unprecedented and I don't know if we will have so much bi-directional communication with someone from CCP regarding a project as we had with Garthagk always ready to listen to everyones ideas and taking the time to help everyone implementing the API.
It is my hope that it serves as a example for future projects.
I would like to wish him the best for his next adventure this time probably back in Uncle Sam's Country, and I hope to see him continuing to flying with us.

Here Here! Garth was a dev who actually listened to our thoughts, even when we should not have been typing! But most of all, he opened up the world to third party applications, and breathed new life in. Lets just hope that the person who replaces him strives to be his level. Fly safe garth!

And you have always been willing to answer our questions and take our wishes into account; the API v2 is the ultimate proof of this. One of the strengths of Eve as a game has been the support provided by players in the form of third party tool software like EveMON, mining and ore calculators, mission databases, jump drive route planners, etc.
Most of the devs, we have no idea really what it is you do, those whose jobs are to actively interact with and respond to the needs of the player base are highly valued. You are one of the things that sets CCP apart from other game companies.
The best gift to the community, however, would be proper documentation of what you have done, left in an easy-to-understand format for the next person. Please, ensure your legacy remains a living creation, and not a relic.
I hope the increasingly poisonous atmosphere on the forums since the Trinity release was not to blame for your leaving. Your efforts to allow greater functionality while preserving our accounts' integrity and server stability continues to be a great boon to us. Although we often sling barbs at CCP in general, in fact much of the time they are aimed only at the person or few people responsible for a given bug getting free, and not at every employee, something that often gets lost in the shuffle.
I hope that you leave CCP with the understanding of how much your efforts mean to many of us, and I hope your future employer values your vision and your skils. If not, send them to us and we'll sort 'em out.

You'll be missed Garthagk.
The EVE API opened a new dimension of EVE, that we've only just started to explore. The potential is simply huge.
Same can be said for the IGB.
Sadly I fear that the EVE API will now go the same way as the IGB has - Next to zero new work (not to mention fixes) done for any foreseeable future...
It was always a pleasure talking to you on IRC, rarely would you fail to respond. And always willing to talk about new ideas (good or bad )
It's been like "the good old days" (beta/early release) when dev's would actually be on IRC and communicate and listen directly to the players.
So Garthagk I give you this : "You made a difference."
