In my low-sec farmer killing escapades I have had a lot of fun and seen a lot of very surprising sights and actions.
Things like the farmbots fighting back and trying to blob me with 6-8 ravens. The most surprising is not even getting faction fittings off a chinese raven in a low sec combat mission, it is not even getting valuable skillsbooks or +4 implants from their shuttles that are "worthless" to kill.
Not even all the eve-mails/convos I have been getting from farmbots.
The most surprising thing of all is that the player NashKGB has been working with them in almost every attempt to blob me while I was killing their drakes/ravens/haulers.
A bunch of ravens undock? NashKGB is with them. They try to catch me on a gate between farming system? NashKGB right next to a bunch of farmbot ravens again. He has yet to kill me, but he has certainly made things easier on the farmers.
It would seem that NashKGB and/or 13Th Legion(a self-described merc corp) is under contract to protect the chinese farmbots. That is wrong on just so many levels.
It's one thing to be indifferent to the farmers that are ruining EVE, but it is quite another thing to actively help them do so, and to take their dirty isk.
This is in no way acceptable, wth kind of mercs work for chinese farmbots?

WTF would they get banned??? they are providing a service for ISK as they would for any other contract. They can simply state that they have no clue as to what their employer does to attain their ISK.
So no they won't get banned, they are doing their job.

It occurs to me that since CCP go out of their way to protect ISK farmers, genuine players who farm for isk rather than buying it, will make their alts look like Rice Farmers. They will thus acquire the same level of protection as the genuine isk seller farmers, the undermentioned and very valuable Indifference Tank.
The smart player knows that CCP loves farmers, and that players recognise this and are just so sick of farmers they mostly ignore them, so what disguise would you recommend for a farmer alt?
Because I recommend calling your alt "kjhkjh kjh", "Fevered Kilo" or even the rather adventurous "mihang dan".
As far as I am concerned, lots of pies protect farmers. pies love farmers, because farmers attract anti-farmers. anti-farmers drop more than "soil" or "spiced wine".
The possibilities for your situation with NashKGB could be one of many.
Have Fun!

Edited by: Durzel on 12/12/2007 11:56:28 Edited by: Durzel on 12/12/2007 11:56:10 Playing Devils Advocate for a moment - what's the difference between a chinese ISK farmer mission running, uber-mining (or whatever it is they do) for ISK to sell and a regular player doing the same thing for themselves? The only difference is that ultimately that chinese farmer is selling that ISK on, but no player is able to ascertain that for certain for a given toon they come across surely since the whole selling part is presumably done behind closed doors, via "pool" accounts, etc...
Curious as to how people are being judge, jury and exectioner for a given toon - is it based solely on their actions, their toon names, ship loadouts, etc? Is it as simple as seeing them run a mission and thinking "that looks like a farmer ipso facto it is"?
Not trying to cause controversy as such, just throwing that point out there for discussion.

Reminds me of when Mercenary Services declared war on my corporation. The reason they gave was because we killed their client's battleship in low-sec. The only BS we killed in low-sec in the last weeks belonged to farmers..
Don't worry. Mercenary outfits that need to take dirty ISK will just fold as hard as Tyleritus' alliance did. ===== |

If the farmers are really paying them, it's easy to solve.
Keep petitioning the farmers as long as you see them farming for "SELLING ISK", eventually when they get caught, the merc corp will be treated as if they bought ISK and will probably get raped by negative wallets galore.

No it isn't. You see some of us don't have an extreme emotional reaction when it comes to the idea that people are farming isk for RL sale.
That isn't to say that we buy currency, but that we understand that these guys are doing a job like anybody else.
Accordingly, we don't (or at least I don't feel) a strong moral desire to form a corp, name it "metafarmers" and go after those who farm isk. So that this person has taken a contract to defend these "farmers" (there is no real proof they are farmers anyway) seems only natural.
Mercs take money from players to provide a service; in this case the service is protection. That is all there is to it.

Ah, farmer apoligist all the way huh?
Hey, I need to make some money, I hope you don't mind me hacking your account and robbing you of all your stuff and ISK.
Oh, and I took the liberty of changing your account password/email as well so I can sell the account on my isk selling website.
Because that's against the EULA just as much as selling ISK is.
But since I'm just doing my job, it must be okay.
to the OP, just post every time a corp starts defending farmers, most likely other likeminded anti-farmer folks will gather up and slaughter them.

Apologist? There is nothing to apologize for imo. They have a job, and they do it. Its against the rules of the people who make the game, who have a job to do (find them) and do it.
None of it has anything to do with me, because frankly I play this game to have fun, not to engage in micro-acts of cultural and economic imperialism, which is what I take you to be doing.
Why do I say this? Because its not your job to end MMO currency sales, yet you go out of your way to rub your superiority in the face of anyone who you think just *might* be a farmer.
And what evidence do you ever have? Other than the thread where you said:
You: These guys are isk farmers Me: How do you know that? You: Because in the past I successfully recognized isk farmers Me: Really, well how did you know the isk farmers in the past were isk farmers? You: Because I've always successfully recognized them in the past
In all of its beautiful circularity, you don't have any proof.
You just dec a corp because you don't like their names. How nice. How logical.
Quote: Hey, I need to make some money, I hope you don't mind me hacking
A totally meaningless analogy. The people you are "attacking" don't hack. They aren't stealing credit card numbers or personal information. They aren't even hacking the EVE software to duplicate isk. They pay for their accounts like everyone else and make the isk just like the rest of us.
That they then sell that isk for profit doesn't bother me. Why it bothers you enough to thump your chest and emphatically gesture at your straw man (hacking please) I don't know. The only thing I can surmise is that your arrogant attitude has to do with you imposing your cultural and economic position on others less fortunate than you.
Quote: your account and robbing you of all your stuff and ISK. Oh, and I took the liberty of changing your account password/email as well so I can sell the account on my isk selling website.
So is it now your position that all isk farmers hack accounts? That's just as absurd as saying something like "all people of African decent are muggers."
Again, its a straw man, which is a formal fallacy, not to mention racist, classist, and just generally ****** up.
Btw, the last person in my corp to have their account hacked was the victim of a 16 year old kid who was formally in our corp and not an "isk farming" website. However, since you feel that you can move from the specific instance to the general in cases like this...
I'm starting a corp whose sole purpose is going to be to kill the characters of 16 year old kids from Austin Texas. Everyone knows that they're going to hack your account and take your stuff.
Quote: But since I'm just doing my job, it must be okay.
Please... your whole post is one ridiculous straw man. People who farm currency are not inherently bad people, very few of them will hack your account, or treat you half as poorly as you'd like to treat them.
But go on foaming at the mouth and trying to stir up the mob with your ridiculousness, and the rest of us will go about playing eve the way we want, taking contracts from who we want.
Quote: These "gdisajdaosidjioasdj" players that you are defending are the same group of people that:
1. Spammed the forums 2. Try various methods to hijack accounts to steal their stuff to sell it on various sites.
Again, straw man, and complete rubbish.
That's like saying Americans are the people who:
1. Committed the Manson murders 2. Burn crosses in the lawns of minorities
Why are you sticking up for them? See, while its true that particular members of the group "Americans" did/do these things, its really ridiculous to generalize.
Here is a simpler example.
Fido is a dog Fido has spots All dogs have spots
compare this with
Fido is a dog All dogs are animals Fido is an animal
See the difference?

Edited by: Rellik B00n on 13/12/2007 01:37:07 fair enough well thought out counter arguments, is there a decent argument against killing farmers in general because theyve made it cheaper to buy ISK than GTCs thus pushing the price of GTCs up for those of us that pay legitimately for GTCs with in game currency, effectively turning us into farmers?
im not saying these ppl are farmers i dont want a quote riddled wall of text i just want someone to make a decent argument against the above statement.

I really hope not. CCP can't expect the playerbase to to identify and avoid interaction with farmers to assure the safety of their assets. They haven't even provided any realistic guidelines for us to follow to do so. As long as claimed farmers aren't put on some kind of public "list of farmers", directly or indirectly provided by CCP, noone should be expected to avoid interaction with them.

Who says hunting them down isnÆt fun? Going after the farmers made me richer then your wildest dreams.
Originally by: Karlemgne its not your job to end MMO currency sales, yet you go out of your way to rub your superiority in the face of anyone who you think just *might* be a farmer.
No, but I made it my job and I use my in game resources to attack it, thatÆs what EVE is about. Freedom. If I could do it on an official level (where I could make 100% determinations of RMT), I would do so in a heartbeat.
Originally by: Karlemgne you don't have any proof.
If a GM came to you and told you they were ISK farmers selling ISK, you'd probably tell them they were full of it. If a GM gave you access to their accounts to you so you can look at their journal claiming billions of ISK of scams on purpose, you'd probably tell me that they are just transferring ISK to their mains. If the farmers came to you and gave you all of their logins and access to their ISK selling sites and you could physically login everywhere and see their entire operation, you'd probably still say they arenÆt ISK farmers. If I told you that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, you would probably tell me IÆm full of it.
Any proof I can come up with, just isnÆt enough to satisfy your pea sized mind who canÆt put 2 and 2 together to figure out the motives of these players for themselves.
I look for this:
1. 23/7 online times 2. Gibberish or oddball sounding names ôgood houseö, ôhdfgfdggfdö ôlong cowö ôyour carö ôggdfgdö are some examples of what I look for in a farmer name. 3. No communication even when being attacked. 4. Their behavior changes randomly
On point 4, I once scammed a farmer for over 230 million ISK on an item. I tried to scam him with the same scam a few minutes later, and I failed, he didnÆt fall for it and cursed me out in Chinese or some other language (he knew I scammed him), 7 hours later however, I saw him again, and I pulled off the SAME scam on this character with the same character I tried to scam him with previously, for another 300 million ISK.
The explanation? Someone else is using the character.
ACCOUNT SHARING
This has happened MANY times, I seem to have a 75% success rate in scamming players multiple times with silly names, and probably the 25% where I failed I didnÆt wait long enough.
Originally by: Karlemgne You just dec a corp because you don't like their names. How nice. How logical.
We can war dec anyone we want for whatever reason we want. But TBH, itÆs more fun to join their corps when they form them and blindly accept you. Then blow them up.
Originally by: Karlemgne That they then sell that isk for profit doesn't bother me.
Yeah, only people who break the rules that affect you should be prevented, right?
Originally by: Karlemgne So is it now your position that all isk farmers hack accounts?
No, but IÆm saying that the same people who operate the ISK farming groups are probably the same kind of people that will hijack accounts. They donÆt care how they get ISK they just want ISK to sell, now a majority of it is from legitimate farming, but some of it does come from hijacking.
Originally by: Karlemgne People who farm currency are not inherently bad people
I agree. ItÆs the people who hire them are the scumbags and the only way to get to them is the farmers. I attack their operation as a whole, and I have let individual farmers slide in order to be able to do more damage to them in the long run.
Oh and here is just one of my exploits in anti-farmer operations, this guy swore up and down he was not a ISK seller/farmer.
I knew better.
