I once podded a guy who did that to me. Was concorded seconds after, but who cares. My ceptor vs his ship + pod, was worth it. I'd kill them all day long, too bad not everyone steals from you though, they mostly salvage. |

So probing him out and moving close to him - preferably cloaked, though not really necessary - is turning smartbombing and tractor beaming your wrecks into a good idea because... ?
My bad, I didn't read the thread all at once, and didn't realize he was the same guy specifically advocating smarties for blowing up wrecks.
Yes, Smart Bombs are a bad idea in hisec, kiddies. Except frapsed right outside of Jita 4-4.
Beside any other negative point, smarties do no damage to wrecks.

Originally by: warf1 i have been scanned out so many time on misions now and had salvage and stole along with cargo from cans . the people who do this dont seem to flash red so there for i cannot attack them. as there is alot of isk to be made and the mision runner does all the work shud we not b able to blow these theifs up.
Preparation: Always target the person doing the salvaging, but do NOT aggress them in any way. This gets them numb to being targeted, which is important if they happen to be in a ship with a cloak.
1. Overtank for the encounter, and use WCS. 2. Pull a mission with warp scramming frigs. 3. Pop a few cruisers that get close, and tractor the items close to you. 4. Don't open the wrecks, continue to "play" in the mission area, until the salvager arrives. Target them to keep them from cloaking. 5. When the salvager gets close to you (and the scramming frigs)... warp out. 6. Smack them in local. For added hilarity, find out what ship type they salvage in, and sell 10 or so on the local market at 20% markup.

If you're having problems with people scanning you out in missions, odds are you are in a busy system.
The simple solution is to move to another system where there are less people and run missions there.

Edited by: Ares Lightfeather on 14/12/2007 14:04:29 With marauders you will pretty much be able to salvage as you go anyway... so...
It's pretty much a problem solved now. Even if Eve would be more fun if salvaging worked as loot does. Right now, if someone steals loot, he's looking for a fight, and knows the risks. It's all fair and Eve-like. If someone salvage a wreck I've made just in front of me, he just doesn't risk anything from me, nor I from him. This sounds like hello-kitty online.
Note : I haven't said anywhere that I support mission runners, or salvager thieves. I prefer kill rights because it'll be more fun imo for both.
Therefore making aggression rights when salvage stealing is a good idea : it makes Eve online look less like hello kitty online.
PS : currently, I don't care, as when I'm mission running I do so in places that ain't too populated and I either salvage as I go or not at all. -- random eve-related content -- |

heh, I scan and salvage peoples missions everyday. Its really easy to find them in busy hubs. I get free salvage, but its not your salvage that im stealing, its your isk.

I salvage as I go, I may not get any speed records for mission running, but I don't particularly care either. If someone probes me out they might get to see 1 or 2 BS/cruiser wrecks, or up to half dozen frig/dest wrecks, and I'll usually pop the big ones if i can't tractor them in before the prober gets to them.

Yeah, but if I see someone in a CNR smartbombing their wrecks, I am flying my cheap salvage cruiser straight at them so as to summon Concord on their stupid ass!

Eh, I salvage the BS myself, using a Domi ftw. Anything smaller the probers can have, since often it's garbage anyway. I just did Damsel in Distress and kept getting big stacks of Metal Scraps as salvage from the Machs. If I want to salvage I run belts in low sec or 0.0.

cry me a river, boo hoo, some poor sod spent 2-3 hours of his life to scan out you. not anyone else. he was going for you. yea, that must be it.
how about you get out of motsu / saila?
2-3 hours...pfft. I can probe out a careless runner in 10 minutes or so. Not to mention most runners are done in an hour

I'm currently (though not for much longer) missioning in/around the Saila area myself, and this has never happened to me.
i guaran-damn-tee, however, that i can loot and salvage the entire field a hell of a lot faster than 90% of the thieves out there.
if the author wants to message me in-game, i'll let you know how to handle your salvage. it's mighty sad to say, but i salvage better than i mission
