Your assuming its a windows 8 problem, I'm assuming it's a difference between 2008 express and 2012 express. Can't run 2008 on windows 8, but you can run 2012 on windows 7. Can you atleast upgrade that? Its free? |

It might be to do with SQL 2012. The problem with that is that I'm not going to update EMMA to work with 2012. Last time it was a massive pita for most of my users and some never actually got their SQL installs working again.
The SQL express upgrade process is notoriously terrible.
So I'd have to upgrade my machine to 2012 to look at this one problem then trust that the uninstall back to 2008 will work properly. Frankly I have no faith whatsoever in that working.
So yes, I'm sorry but I can't do anything for you right now. |

A few people have been having problems since CCP turned off HTTP access. To fix this, you just need to click through the error messages on startup, go to settings -> api settings and edit the base url there to be HTTPS instead of HTTP.
Should just work after that. |

The 64 bit version of SQL Express has a bug that will mean EMMA will probably fail to run first time. The error will be somthing like 'CLR integration not enabled'. To fix this, simply restart Windows. |

Same here, this has not worked for me at all since i started playing again a few months back. I thought they had disabled the service or something. does it work for others?

As far as I'm aware it's still active. Perhaps they've just configured the server not to respond to pings? I'll try and remember to look into it this weekend. |

I'm afraid I haven't tested with SQL 2012 and it's unlikely I will be any time soon. Perhaps it's just not compatible without changes |

I have just installed an evaluation SQL 2012, and it is working fine with EMMA, when you are using differently to connect to the SQL DB. Basically tha basic EMMA is using USER instance to run the SQL DB, with this change you are eliminating the user instance. It's an "advanced" connection mode.
In SQL management console attach the two SQL database to the server. (EMMADatabase and EveData)
Then you need to edit the EveMarketMonitorApp.exe.config file.
Look for this lines bellow, and change them to look like this:
add name="EveMarketMonitorApp.Properties.Settings.EMMA_DatabaseConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=COMPUTERNAME;database=EMMADatabase;Trusted_Connection=yes" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"
add name="EveMarketMonitorApp.Properties.Settings.ebs_DATADUMPConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=COMPUTERNAME;database=EveData;;Integrated Security=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"
When this changes are done, it should work like charm (If you can set it up).

Hey guys I'm having a strange problem trying to configure EMMA... I've gotten so far as to input my API for the character (and have created an api key with the required permissions) but when I enter the ID and Verification code it doesn't check the api but throws the error: 106: Must provide userID or keyID parameter for authentication as if there were an empty or invalid field.
I even tried my all-access API that I use perfectly fine with evemon and eft so I know it's not an issue there; Any ideas? |

Just put version 1.6.1.0 out.
This has a few fixes for little problems (main one being that item filters on various screens had been broken since CCP changed to 32 bit IDs for items) The static data has also been updated to the latest retribution release (thanks to Lost Hamster for that one) Finally, I've added a feature to export your data to Eve API format XML. It doesn't export everything yet, it's a work-in-progress. (The intention is that this will be used to export your data from EMMA 1.6 to EMMA 2 when I finally get that finished.) |

Just released a beta update 1.6.1.2 This just adds the Industry jobs data to the XML export.
If anyone has a decent amount of data for industry jobs and wouldn't mind sharing then I'd really appreciate getting a copy of your XML file after doing an export. I'm currently doing some performance testing of EMMA 2. I have hundreds of thousands of transactions and journal entries to test the import with. However, I never really got into industry and have a grand total of one industry job. Not great for load testing.
To get the beta update, make sure it's checking for beta updates (settings -> other settings -> check for beta updates) To export, simply click the export button, then ok, then choose the directory to export to. EMMA will appear to hang as there is no progress window or anything yet. However, it will be working away in the background and after a few minutes (depending on how much data you have) it should be done. (You can still do other stuff on your computer while it's doing this)
Once it's done, just zip it up and email it to me: [email protected]
Thanks in advance!

Aye same here ambo.
After a VERRY long trade break i have dived back into it.Kinda killed my good laptop with cheap ass whine on new years eve so stuck with the old laptop.Figured i'd try trade again and as usuall means i don't do it small either.
So downloaded EMMA and as i was afraid i had problems with the SQL so ended up deleting it again.Though i can say when i used to use EMMA years back i found it one of the best tools for my tradestyle.

Exception after the EMMA startup splash screen:
"Problem during EMMA startup. Check C:\Users\xxxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Emma\Logging\ExceptionLog.txt for details."
There is no such directory, and upon a search there is no ExceptionLog.txt file on my computer.
Ideas? how do i fix this? |

Without some error details it's hard to say.. Maybe a permissions issue? Try right clicking and running as admin.
Edit: wait a min, it's probably just that it's a hidden folder. Try typing %appdata% in the run box in the start menu. Then navigate to the right folder from there. Then we should at least be able to see the error. |
