Pass the word, folks. Here is all the important info:
Place:
System: U-QVWD, Planet IV Moon 1.
There is currently a small secure can anchored there named "SA Rally Point". I have not had time to get out that way again so could an enterprising CA member head out there and anchor another can named "CA Rally Point" 100 kilometers away from the SA one?
As the time for the event approaches, pilots from each side will gather within ten kilometers of their respective can and await the declaration of hostilities.
Prior to the actual shooting, each side shall have a representative take a head count of all the pilots in his group. Depending on the turn-out for this event, each side will agree upon if the size of the opposing force is acceptable to the other and, if needed, adjust their numbers accordingly. (No point in a 80 vs. 30 match!)
RULES:
1.) No ECM. 2.) No Cruise Missiles. Heavy, light and defender missiles are allowed. Heavy and light FoF missiles may be used if desired. 3.) No podding. Just to make sure those pilots who value their implants show up, let's put this one in there.
Engagement Rules:
A pilot may not leave the engagement area. You can MWD a couple hundred kilometers away if you want to recharge shields, reload weapons, etc.., but warping away from the battle area counts as a kill for the opposing team. This is not going to be easy to monitor, folks, so essentially we're going to just have to go with the honor system here. Don't let your side down
Fight Time:
Gathering time begins at 0015 - 0030 EVE time, 14 March 04. Once the gathering time begins, all CA/SA fleet forces in the area should please try to avoid shooting on any CA/SA flagged frigate that states they are headed to the Brawl.
At 0100 EVE time, a neutral party (Drunkenmaster or another cameraman) will declare the beginning of hostilities in Local chat. Combat ends when the battle area has been cleared and claimed by one side by either destroying the opposing team or forcing them to warp away.
------------
So, there it is. Let's try to keep it clean and honorable so maybe we can do something similar again in the future. _____ CLS Civil Affairs Bureau

I could see people using this as a get-away tactic... but since it's still in the same area... hmmm... I think it would be smart tactics, but others might disagree. Everyone feel free to debate it here and we can discuss it further when things get started tonight. _____ CLS Civil Affairs Bureau

Alynthir,
I have to say as much as I like this idea and wanted it to happen I think it should be canceled. There are too many people with alt motives that will turn this into a blood bath rather then make this a fun night. I am not going to point fingers or name names. but I would urge you to NOT have this happen. there just isnt enough trust to bring it together. And I am not saying that its all CA either.

Well, I think warping to the containers should be allowed... If you really want to nail the guy, you can warp after him.
Oh and btw... Can't we do this event a bit earlier? 01.00 EVE time may be WAY too late for Europeans who have work/school in the morning. Say 21.00 EVE time, that's a good time for both Europeans and Americans.

Yeah, you are right about the warping thing.
As for the time, I picked 0100 because it's a Sunday morning and unless you have to get up for church early (not knocking it!) it's one of the few nights of the week where most people don't ahve to get up early the next day. I also think it's too late to change the time as it's already gone out over the airwaves so to speak, but maybe next time?
TIvian: in all honesty I'm not sure it's my event to cancel anymore. The word has gone out and I'm hoping for a big turnout from the SA side at leasr. If there is anyone planning to screw this up, that's sad. I don't blame you for being worried about it, but if we don't do this then what does that say about our colective resolve? I've got about a dozen pilots from my corp who are really psyched up about an oppertunity to just have some fun. I've heard nothing but positive comments about this from my side. Frankly, I agree with the poster above that anyone who tries to ruin this is an asshat of epic proportions.
Looking at it from a risk standpoint, all of us are going to be in frigates so there's not a lot of financial risk. I guess my desire to do something different than the typical BS slugfest is blinding me to the malice some 'unknown element' might harbor toward this event. All I can say is I'm going to be there, along with several of my corp members. If someone wants to try to ruin this, then they are essentially making an ass of themself in front of the entire EVE comminuty.
I hope you change your mind, and if you want to discuss this further feel free to contact me in game. I'll be on starting about 2000 EVE time. _____ CLS Civil Affairs Bureau

Well I hope everything will turn out alright. I really do. It would be nice to have the the time to for everyone on both sides to come together with out the stress of war, just some good clean fun for a change.
I hope that you dont think I am trying to rain on the parade, that is not the case at all. I just wanted to for warn that I heard things that where not positive in nature. and I can only say that you all need to whatch your backs...and that is TO EVERYONE CA and SA there are going to be party crashers.

I really hope someday that CCP creates some kind of active arena system, so that challenges like this can be met without cheating or anything. Thus allies and enemys can gather around in ships, and watch eachother 1vs1 or what not. Without some physical rules built into the game there can only be unfair moves taken by either side. I will admit though that challenges like this would be very fun. ------------------

10 dollars on the tristan with drones that uses the range exploit.
Whoever is running this obviously doesn't have much experience in frigate combat.

my god guys...
Seems like some people have realised what games are about. I play other multiplayergames and in matches and fights there is always sportsmanship. Eve is full of bad behaviour and I don't know why.
I hope you pull this one off and that people can leave the asshat at home

Normally I don't let this stuff get to me, but everyone else has been civil up until now. Silv, ask some of your own corp mates about my abilities in a frigate. Or, better yet, feel free to test me whenever you feel like it. I'd be happy to educate you personally. I did not try to set this up to as some sort of half ass test of who can outsmart everyone else. I did it so people could have some fun, so take the attitude to another thread please.
Yes, I'll admit that I overlooked drones as I have yet to run into an enemy frigate, Omega Corp included, that used them. At 3,000 km/sec, it would seem rather...redundant. But that's just my opinion. Maybe I'll try it out sometime. But, for this event, I'd say NO DRONES. It's a frigate contest, and most of the people who have responded seem intent on keeping it that way and have some fun.
On another note to all of CA: If certian..."warlike corps" decide to pay you a visit tonight, be sure to pass the word. I think everyone will understand if your pilots would rather not be in frigates this weekend. We can do it another time. Just let me know. _____ CLS Civil Affairs Bureau

You apparently haven't run across people using drones in a "special" way that makes them hit from 20k/m away no matter how fast you are travelling =P
