Petition to fix Gallente Colors

Taius Pax	Posted - 2007.12.19 04:29:00 - [1] After seeing the results of the color changes on Tranquility, I have to say I like these new darker colors even less than the old "baby blue" ones. I'd like CCP to take another look at the colors and either revert to the older lighter scheme or try to come up with a new scheme that is more acceptable to the player base. I understand they did what they did in response to the outcries from a lot of people, but the results honestly look worse than baby blue colors. Does the art team really think darkening the grey and turning up the reflection on the silver really makes these models look better? It really washes out all the detail on the models which was the point of the high rez models in the first place. CCP, please take another look at the Gallente T1 ships. They really don't look that great now If you'd like CCP to take another look at the graphics, please share you desire in this thread before the get side tracked with something else...

While some ships did look better with the blue/silver combo, most didn't. After this change the ships looks much more professional/military-like, which I much prefer. And if you can't see the details, go get yourself some glasses, they're still there and very much visible.

The Myrm looked awful so did a lot of the gallente ships. These changes are definetly a step in the right direction. More steel type colours and darker colours would be nice, I don't think CCP are finished yet. So I hope they add far more detail and depth to the models.

It was always the 'baby blue', in particular not only because of the 'classic' idea of gallente colors, but due to it's lack of distinction against caldari ships (look at a raven and a mega side by side as an example). Not hard to figure out, but I will say that I'm not surprised at CCP's typical fix. They changed something no one asked for, didn't fix the one thing that everyone was begging for, and now no one is happy. =)

It's that apparently different color ship options would be extremely popular. Considering how fast they changed the baby blue it seems like it might not be hard for CCP to implement either. Performance problems could be solved by an optional checkbox I bet.

The latest patch colours are far better then the Trinity ones. The ships now look solid and mean, rather than the washed out 'Toys R Us' shades before. I would agree that some textures are a little flat and poor in detail but that applied before the colour change anyway. Hopefully the CCP graphics department will revisit some of the texturing and improve them (bump mapping?). This also applies to some of the other racial ships too. Otherwise great job CCP, a step in the right direction - even more shiney black and reflective silver for Gallente (possibly metalise the remaining blue) if anything.

That was Gallentean Democracy in action baby Well CCP have always said the game should be driven by players, a colour change is minimal. I would agree that the nerfing whines provoked a knee jerk response that went too far and I'm sure CCP will re-balance in future. I have faith in CCP, when that goes its the day I leave (far from that yet).

Funny, the previous bank of complainants assumed the position that ALL Gallente pilots disliked the previous color set. Interesting thing is they had all the same choices you listed here. Instead they chose to complain about the colors on the forums and now we have the result. We are all entitled to express our opinion. The new ôgrease gunö gray with ôpea soupö green highlights goes too far and removes a lot of the detail in the new models for the majority of ships it was applied to. I think further adjustment is needed so the details so lauded in the new expansion are actually visible on the ships. Either that or reverting to the previous color set would work as well. The silent majority in the past didn't have a problem here.

The much darker and shiniermetal parts of the ship are spot on and very reminiscent of what I always loved about gallante ships. I still think that the blue paint needs a little work but it's something that I can live with, I'm sure. Here's hoping that they enable custom paint jobs in the near future as I miss the Caldari red paint too.

This is the update, they spent a lot of time creating these models and textures, and decided to use this color scheme, but you want them to redo all of that work? I'm all for whining, but how about whining about the things that matter. I personally think the new colors can go either way, some ships look better, some ships look worse. But these are the new models, and I'd much rather CCP work on something worthwhile, than spend time appeasing a handful of metrosexual pod pilots.

Its only the highly polished look that stands out now, the dark metalic grey just blends into the dark crappy green. Not very Galentte or French.
