Throw in some empty secure containers and name them "t2", "faction", "named", "zydrine" or alike. Set it to autopilot through the nearby systems of Jita, back and forth. If you're lucky, you will make someone swear a bit after seeing your loot. And get some kill rights $ When repeated often, you might earn the status "fake hauler" and be ignored in the future ganks :P

depends on the sec rating of the system. *shouldnt* be possible in 1.0 space, for example. hed only get one volley off....so unless he one shots you, concord should take care of the rest.

Yea you are missing one thing: There could be anything inside those cans.
So basically, it could just as well be some noob hauling tritanium to Jita and I don't think your BS is worth losing to take that rather huge chance considering that secure can hauling is pretty common to increase cargo space.

Perhaps the best training regarding suicide hits you need is simply to try it.
When you figure out exactly the level of insane detail you need to go to, you will learn what is the ***** in the gankers armor. It's really so simple to avoid it's too stupid for words to describe.
Sitting around for endless hours waiting for the exact right set of circumstances that allow a gank to occur is the balance you so anxiously want. It is balanced against the people who demonstrate the extreme and required level of stupidity and how rare they in fact are.
CCP's endless upgrades to CONCORD despite the difficulty of a successful gank only demonstrate how keen they are to make highsec into Green Space, and they should be pitied for their attitude. --

Not terribly.
I was using a Thorax and basically broke my teeth on a Transport. I don't even try transports from a Thorax anymore.

About 18-24 months ago, scanners were changed, they now see all the items inside the cans, not just the cans when scanning your cargo. So, no, you can't hide stuff in cans, it's still visible.

Deepspace transport are the number one target for suicide gankings imho. A bustard might be able to tank one t2 fitted armageddon if shield tanked (with a shield booster) and you are not afk running. I doubt anything will survive though if you are ganked by two t2 fitted armageddons (maybe a mastodon, due to its good resists vs amarr).
Cargo can be scanned even if in secure containers, so you are not safe in that way. Best thing to do is use a blockade runner, fit a nano and an i-stab and you can warp like a ceptor. If they can't scan you, they won't gank you. (Scanning requires about 1 sec to lock and a bit more than 2 seconds for scanning to complete, the latter with the best scanner and survey to level 5).
Also, keep in mind, its not only afk pilots that are valid targets. Out of everyone I've ganked, 10% were actually afk pilots. The rest were pretty much on their keyboards.
P.S. I've only tried ganking with an Armageddon, dont know if the other ships are any good. Feel free to correct me if you have done it in another ship (I do not mean with a t1 fitted brutix ganking a t1 hauler). FYI, I manage to get 1000 dps with t2 megapulse, sentry drones and overload.

And what happens to that 1000dps when it hits 80%+ resists? That low sec gate camp that I mentioned earlier had 3 geddons and an astarte in it all gank fitted with T2 and yet I got away with 2/3 shield.. On a Mammoth no less.. So the point is that if you put even the most basic of tank on your indy and don't carry around a hold full of officer gear your pretty much safe from being suicided unless of course they just want to kill you at any price..

Yea, was one of my Empire alts, taking stuff down for the war against BoB. War is only about 70 jumps from home base, so takes a bit to get it down there. Left it AFK Auto pilot in empire when I went to work. Now I know better.
Got a little lucky the Polys dropped, otherwise you would have gotten crap :).
Basically the reasoning behind the gank is valid. 15 Destroyers (especially Minmatar with T2 280's and in this case most were T2 fitted) can do easily 20-30k damage, and Transports can't withstand that much damage.
CCP should either let them get ganked or add more mid slots to allow for stronger tanks, or improve the already impressive natural tank.
Even tho I lost this time, I say CCP - Leave well enough alone. Losing a ship is part of the game. Anyone not willing to lose a ship should go play Guildwars or something. I mean it.

_Your_ transport couldn't stand that... Just look at the fitting you used. Large shield extender I and a 10MN AB I, and no armor tank. You popped after 11k damage, and assume therefor that a transport can't handle 30k damage?
It wasn't the prowess of the gankers that killed your ship, it was you yourself. And those people who're suggesting adding shield boosters to empire transports; not only does it suck compared to an additional LSE or res, it also assumes you're not going to be AFK while hauling those billions worth of junk.

That Occator fitting there hurts my "empire antigank" AFK tanking glands or something like that. Especially THIS part : "Damage Taken: 11522". I mean COME ON, less than 12k raw HP, what the hell ? (estimated effective probably around 20k or so).
If you want to go AFK, rule number one, NO CARGO EXPANDERS, use lows for tank. Rule number two, no active mods (AB has to go the way of the Dodo). Rule number three, tank up the wazzoo for effective HP, not recharge/repair/whatever (pointless if you're AFK).
As for the Bustard ? A proper "AFK" Bustard tank has roughly 25k raw HP to begin with, and against EM (lowest resist) aprox 45k effective HP at maxskills (or over 60k against "even damage type distribution"). The fact it only has the base 6875 m^3 of cargo is just another incentive to NOT put too many "valuables" in there for one such AFK run.
If you want to be "at the keyboard", there's no substitute for a blockade runner... I mean, seriously, align&warp in roughly 3 seconds and a +2 WCS built-in, with decent HP buffer... what the hell can beat that for safe solo transport ? 1|2|3|4|5. |

Wrong.
If it was that hard, suicide gankers would be rare.
If suicide ganking was easy, suicide gankers would be common........
