the problem with people able to vote for themselves is they alway's will and thus you cuold just give them 33.4 mil isk anyhow

^^ but i cast my vote so we just have to wait for the rest

well, if you REALLY think that other ppl will ALWAYS vote for themselves if they can ... you should really vote for someone else if defiler wants to add the spice and use my suggestion ^^
 because that way you will end up with either b1 = 100m ... or b2 = 66,66m

on the other hand, one of the others could try the same 'trick' ... which will result in another outcome :)

actually thats why the idea adds some 'spice'

Well, my original plan kinda did allow them to vote for themselves. Although things were quite different then when the 100M wouldn't be split between the votees (is that a word?) I got the distinct feeling that they had serious trust issues (and I don't blame them, this is EVE) and wouldn't vote for anyone else if they had a choice. Why gamble when you can play it safe and vote for yourself?

Now they can't vote for themselves, which gives them a stronger incentive to work together by, say, two agreeing to vote for each other, thereby guaranteeing money for them both, leaving the third out. But since they most certainly have figured this out already (wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise) they need to take it one step further, bringing #3 into the loop. They still have to trust the other(s) but they no longer have the safety net of voting for themselves. It's a very simple and very old game, but still interesting. No need to complicate things. I bet it would get really interesting if they were fighting for billions (which I unfortunately can't afford).

I appreciate the work you've put into this, but the current system stands.

Ok, the results are just in, the turnout was an astonishing 100%, the results are as follows:

TheSystem - No votes, just like you suspected which almost makes me feel bad about it. Sorry mate.

Anwar Krishna - One vote. 33,333,333.34 ISK transferred. Congrats!

Ethereal spacecowboy - Two votes. 66,666,666.67 ISK transferred. You win!

To all you, congratulations, I hope you'll have fun spending your hard-earned ISK. If not, give it to someone who needs it more.

Ofc, there might be mutterings about ballot stuffing, cheating, scamming etc. All I can say is that I myself wasn't bribed/threatened/anything, but considering my (lack of) reputation that doesn't say all that much (personally I find it best to be upfront about obvious stuff like this). As for the others... I think I'm better off not knowing what went on in the background.

Ok, so this bonus event didn't turn out quite the way I wanted to and I will do things differently next time (there will be a next time), but it was fun nonetheless and I hope you enjoyed it too.

Have a good one people, thank you all for participating!

Not surprised at all, tbh, only sad thing is that the original rules you posted were in direct contrast to rules you posted afterwards. Therefore, if anyone made any attempt to set something up originally that meant they were totally, dare I say it, screwed when you updated the rules because it would be easy to use the original plans against that person (cough, me).

Ty for hosting it, was fun.

You mean the rules that all of you were against and wanted me to rethink before you did anything? That's the impression I got from your reactions anyway... Originally by: TheSystem Edited by: TheSystem on 01/01/2008 23:34:49

Erm, you're the host I just had questions about the rules, thats all. You made the rules so I decided to just go with that, and when they got changed I suspect my original actions were *probably* used against me as they really only applied to the first set. This is the reason why, I believe, I lost on the second time around.

 And because of that..

What I recommend is just going with a clearcut, no changes, single set of rules for a competition next time. Maybe then there will be a little less gray area and will be less prone to give anyone an advantage or disadvantage because you won't need to switch
  .
Hope you aren't taking this as a whine or something btw, I'm just suggesting stuff for your next competition

thank you for hosting this event

and as a thank you to all participants

i will put up 40 -50 million of the bonus as a prize for another game to be won by someone other then myself ^^

This is if defiler would want to be so kind as to be the guarantee that this is no scam?(by being the depository for any entry fees and such)

i was thinking about making up a treasure hunt with a base pize of that 40-50 million and more should enough people sign up.

with an entry fee of say 5mil ?
lemme know if you would like this to happen people , i will make a seperate thread for it tonight
(p.s. if youre wondering why the entry fee the answer is simple if people like it i will make it a recurring thing say bi weekly or so,but since im not rich it needs to come from somewhere)

Sounds like fun anyway. Don't think I'll participate (living in the ass end of empire), but because of the above I don't think I'll be eligible to anyway.

TheSystem, as you could tell from the OP (during the event) I was very clear about any potential changes (deadline), but this last part was a spur of the moment thing and didn't really think it through. I'm sorry it turned out the way it did. I hope you'll forgive me and that people will trust that I've learned my lesson next time.

On a related note, if I end up with several hundred M in my personal wallet I deposit most of that to the corp. For a good while now I've also paid an additional 10% of that amount to my Retirement Fund wallet (for my last days of EVE, whenever that happens). Now I think I'll change that to an Event wallet, emptying it when it gets too big. So I'll see you in a while.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have 400M ISK to grind back.
