Even though WASD is vastly superior to point and click (though a combo of both like in guildwars for example is even better)...point and click for eve's ambulation to ensure it's not cosy running about stations for hours.

Personnally I think they should have an option to use either one. If the stations are going to be crowded then point an click would be more of a hassle to move around than using the keyboard. Point/click is more convient though when you are moving through open areas without much that can get in your way.
I also think that Eve should continue with there standard of breaking the mold and get away from using WASD style controls and instead use the much better ESDF style.

Kharadran Sullath makes a good point that just because the first version of ambulation won't be nothing more than walking around the stations, does not mean that there wont be more to it down the line (please for all the love of that is pure and holy, make station combat CCP).
In which case WASD would be by far superior to pont anc click.

i think station environments should be zero gravity with the ambulation done by expelling blasts of hot air from the pod pilot's body
just imagine how quickly the forum *****s here could traverse a station

Didn't you know? CCP are doing ambulation as part of work on another MMORPG being made along with another company (Blizzard), the other game being 'WoW in Space'. Of course, ambulation will use full body avatars, from WoW, so if you haven't already, you should go back to WoW and grind up a couple of Lv 70s (or whatever it is these days) so you are ready for the new content.
Come back when you've done that for further instructions.

As we all know, WASD has NEVER EVER been in a Role Playing Game where it has worked. And that adding MMO infront of it makes it inherently different, and therefore impossible that it could ever work.

I would like to use this thread for a little prediction of mine... Knowing not much about the mechanics of little men formed of noughts and ones I do think that a number of alliance mails consisting of variations of 'stop walking around in the damned station when a blob is in system' will go out shortly after the ambulation patch. For one reason or another....

That being said, if we MUST have walking, then I guess WASD is my preferred control.
