I went to 0 sec many times with my little tech 1 frig. Because I KNOW I will get insta popped if I get locked on. There is no reason whatsoever to go in 0.0 sec with so many people roaming around just to pod the first trarget they can get.
People in 0.0 don't kill for isk, they pod because your there, simply.
It's like an Tribe that start killing all the bulls around without letting them reproduce....after a while there is a lot less bull to kill.
There is no role play, no valid reason to pod. Rats in low sec pod just to pod. And thats what make people more and more afraid to leave empire. Because even though you are not a target worth killing, you will get killed.
I'm not a carebear, I love pvp and I don't want CCP to change anything reguarding the pvp. I'm jusat wondering if getting the maximum amount of killmail really does matter in the end ?
The beauty of EvE is to be able to Kill anyone you want anytime you want in ).0, although I usually need a good reason (reward) to destroy a ship, its seems that 99% of the current pirate in low sec doesn't.
In the end it's not because you CAN kill that you SHOULD kill.

You were in their space, that's reason enough to kill you. Proof that it was in fact their space, is you in your pod. |

Have you considered that they didn't want you in their space? They're trying to discourage people coming into it. That's a plenty good reason to pod.
Not that you need a reason.

There are reasons to pop anyone and anything in 0.0, especially at choke points. Alt-spy and isk farmer reduction is a big one.
You want into 0.0? Get into a corp, form a gang and push your way in.

Its a video game, nothing about it matters.
You can fly around in 0.0 in more then a frigate if you want to, but you need to know what you are doing. Yes, if you want to be as close to 100% certain you won't get caught and killed as you can, stick to a frigate. And that's why people stay in Empire, because they want to be as close to 100% safe as they can be. If that's how you want to play the game, fine.
In the end it is a MULTIPLAYER game. The best way to travel around 0.0 is with friends. ----------------------------------------------------

I hear so many whining from 0.0 rats or corp...but when I ask why people (that has no VALUE dead) are getting KoS'ed, it seems that theyre just "protecting" their home...

That's basically what I was gonna say.
Big part of the reason people don't go is it's almost certain to get you blow'd up due to camps at the choke points.
CCP wants people to use 0.0. Players constantly tell other players to go there (see this thread even). Yet it's almost certain death.
People will listen to their own experience before they'll listen to some forum jackass telling them to move to 0.0. -- Support fixing the EVE UI | Suggest Jita fixes

When someone says "move to 0.0" they don't mean pack up your stuff in a hauler and seat yourself out there. They mean find a few hundred of your closest friends form a corp/alliance and go take some nullsec systems.
If you're sick of getting popped at the choke points take them away from the people that are presently doing the popping. Of course by that I mean you and those few hundred of your friends do take it, and then hold it for when they try and take it back.

If you're going to move to 0.0 on your own (it's possible) you better know all the tricks of how to get around safely and be able to take occasional losses. Otherwise join a corp/alliance that already lives there.
0.0 is a war zone and is meant to be. There are no sec status hits in 0.0. So, a lot of people that move out there do it because they like shooting stuff. Hostiles and neutrals are targets. That's just the way it is.

To the op: They kill because they can, because its fun, if I kill someone who is genuinely a new player in their first ever cruiser i might feel bad and give them advice but other than that they should know better, its all fair in 0.0.
There are some roleplaying groups out there, like CVA and Jericho Fraction (or star.. whatever) who will only shoot reds, maybe try joining them and dont be part of the problem?
The main reasons to shoot everything and anything are: A) Boredom, there is no penalty for shooting and you dont know when the next target is going to show up B) Killmails, delicious killmails.

No one does. Certainly not the people who live there, at least.
See, in 0.0, unlike low-sec, most people aren't there for simple piracy. If they are there for the resources, they obviously don't want more people. If they are there for the whole alliance empire-building sovereignity game, they want more people but only if you're moving there to join them. Otherwise, why would they care? And if they are there to shoot stuff, there is no shortage of war in 0.0, and certainly lone hapless empire dwellers in frigates don't contribute much of anything to their fun anyway.

What he said. Pirates complain that there is no one in Lowsec. No one is complaining that there are no targets in 0.0.
Coalition is complaining that BoB has retreated too fast and they have to shoot too many undefended POSes, and most FCs have to deal with bloodthirsty killers whining about a lack of targets during any alliance or sub-group's prime-time, but there are no lack of targets in 0.0.
0.0 is too crowded as it is (I could use 5 or so Dysprosium moons, and a few -0.9 systems to myself). We don't need you, especially by your lonesome. Come back when you've learned the game

Well, I hate RL analogies, but if someone came to your "house" armed to teeth, you might be more inclined to shoot them on sight instead of opening the door. Even a frigate is enough to take out miners and haulers, it can scout the area and cyno in a capital fleet.
But enough of that.
EVE is also about empire building: that means claiming a space for you and your friends to do whatever you please. Then you build infrastructure and stations. If you just let anybody in to reap the fruits of your labor, there's very little point in doing all that work as anyone can just step in and take what he wants. Thus, people tend to discourage others from coming to their space by shooting the repeatedly in the face until they decide to stay away. Everyone doesn't understand or heed requests/warnings to leave the space, but they generally don't have a choice in the matter if you shoot them to bits.
There are and have been attempts to do something different as well; usually such organizations have a political agenda to operate in a different mannner. For example, ISS and Tge Big Blue used to operate and CVA operates on policy that anyone is welcome to their space, given that they do not shoot the inhabitants and behave themselves. In general, they perceive that the increased trade and taxes are more beneficial than a closed economy with only the alliance controlling the space uses it. There are drawbacks as well, but it's a tradeoff of sorts. "Le coeur a ses raisons que la raison ne connaet point." -Blaise Pascal, PensTes, 4, 277 |
