I wasn't asking if it was profitable. I was asking how unbearably boring must it be?

well, a lot of valuable stuff gets moved either into or thru low-sec... blowing everything up that you can can give you huge returns if you get lucky...
I take it you got blowed up when you were just passing thru?
in the future, use a quicker-aligning ship or watch the route the auto-pilot plots you.

well i have been blown up by a gate camp, but thats not what this is about.
i see these posts about pirates whining about how they want the peeps from high sec to go into low sec, thats understandable. but its just for isk, not for pvp?
pvp imo is PvP, not player vs. plater that has absolutly no chance.
so yeah, its just for a bit of isk that all you'll use it for is to buy a better ship to sit and stare at a gate for hours on end?

yah, 99% of the time it's for isk... warp into a camp with an equal number of ships, and the pirates will run... they're not camping for pvp.
They'll say otherwise, but

See thats where you're thinking about it wrong, if you ever get yourself into a fair fight you screwed up completely. You should have brought more and bigger friends.
Conversely if you ever find yourself on the losing end of a fight you screwed up because you didn't avoid it properly. |

Thats how it works in the real world. And thats fine.
However in the real world people also generally don't get into fights for no good reason. Because theres consequences.
In fact, in the real world the threat of violence is what keeps everyone more or less friendly with each other. In computer games, it makes everyone shoot at each other.

umm, it's like obvious and can be summed up in one word beautiful word "yaRR!"
You should pod the person who did you wrong by allowing you to think that there's such a thing as "fair" in EvE.
look around, there are thousands of broken soap boxes that did not inspire the movement of "understanding", "compassion", "universal peace" and "fairness" across the universe.
Nah man, this is EvE.
Get a GUN!
Because everyone of those broken soap boxes had a carebear standing on it that preached "fairness" then turned around and profited by supplying weapons to people who use them .. or even better, carebears that grew up and become the bad men that abused them.
"Fairness" hmmpf!
Your profits will absolve all your sins and greed.
Next you'll be spouting on about "Gun Control" in EvE ...

Im saying that, like the real world, violence is a tool, that can be used in social situations, when needed. If someone is ****ing you off, you can lay one on him. If someone kicks your dog, you can kill him. reality is pvp, people don't go around killing each other just because they can. And neither should they here.
Doing it for profit is one thing, people actually do that. However you have to make calculated efforts. You cant just nuke a city and then clean out all the radioactive possessions. You want to get maximum profit from the fewest 'jobs' so you don't become internationally wanted and have thousands of people dedicating their life to finding you and ruining your career.
However all these things are not done in eve for profit, they are done for killmail and epeens

Killmail.
Repeat after me, this is a computer game, not real life. Ok now that we've got that sorted out. People play computer games for fun, some peoples idea of fun in a computer game is to pointlessly kill people. If all they want is the killmail more power to them.

Oh? In reality you.. let me just quote you..
Quote: See thats where you're thinking about it wrong, if you ever get yourself into a fair fight you screwed up completely. You should have brought more and bigger friends.
Conversely if you ever find yourself on the losing end of a fight you screwed up because you didn't avoid it properly.
That applies to reality.
Its very interesting how you pick and choose which rules must be followed from reality, and which ones should not be followed.
Let me tell you something. People in reality, they conform to social standards and expectations. They pretend to be someone they are not so they can get by, so nothing bad happens to them. How you act in reality only shows how well you understand how to fit in.
In a video game, a world with out consequences, there is no reason to pretend, no reason to do anything but what you want to do. Therefore the way people act in eve shows their true selves.
If you are a murderer in eve, you are really a murderer at heart, you are just afraid to do it for real.
You know, most crimes are solved by connections. Connections between people. Its very hard to find a killer who just randomly stops in a random town and randomly kills someone. Maybe you should be trying that instead of video games. It will probably be more fulfilling. But you cant tell anyone about it. Thats how you get caught. So maybe thats what you want. A big list of kill mail, read on tv in front of a jury. Do it in some places and they wont even kill you afterwards. You will be much more famous. Don't think you want it? You are lying to yourself.

Tiny cat, maybe you should take a break from EVE. You seem to have trouble distinguishing R/L from video game.
Spend some time with you wife and family, chill out, relax. I sense bad times ahead for you, and possibly some large amounts of cash spent on psychiatrists

Nice strawman you built there, but no. First that was tactical advice, it applies to ANY situation real or otherwise where there is potential for conflict.
The social norms for this GAME are different from the real world, you are the only one here asserting otherwise. |
