Quote: Skill Training - Queue or Dual training
This could enable players to either queue skills so that when one level finishes the next level in that skill starts training automatically, or another preset skill starts training automatically. Dual training would enable you to have a primary long-term skill in training with a secondary short-term skill sharing the training time. After a level in the secondary skill has trained, the primary skill trains at full speed again.
This has been something they mentioned would happen for over a year, and its still on the drawing board, not even in development or anything. Does anyone know for when this is planned to arrive? ------

If you call the drawingboard an ideaboard you are closer to what it really is. Its a section for ideas that might be introduced, or ideas CCP are fiddling with, and wants input on. I dont think any ideas appearing in this section means the same as it will be introduced.

I think that Taint guy has some hostility harbored towards Goons... and doesn't understand, why skill queue is important to us all.

Then they could at least make a skill queue that you can fill for up to 24h ... It's awful that people have the choice of either staying up 2h / logging on from work or training some skill they don't need right now...

Here's a solution. You can't queue skills past 30 days. That was easy.

people are already logging in just to change a skill and then logging off until it needs to be changed. implementing this would not change anything in the game. The people who log on just to change a skill simply would log on less than they already do, and the people who play a lot would still play a lot. ------

Exactly, the difference is we don't have to interrupt our real lives when we don't have the intention of playing in the first place. Not being able to queue past 30 days sounds great, but even 7days or 24 hours is fine too.
It's a pain to start a new skill tree and have to change skills every few hours, somtimes minutes. I know a few friends who I failed to get interested in this game b/c they didn't like the fact that they'd have to log in all the time just to not fall behind in training. --------------------------------- Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels -Valorem ([email protected]) |

Agreed.
Let us queue as many skills as we want as long as the total training time of the queued skills doesn't exceed 24 hours, or even 48.
I know CCP wants to open up the game for more people, this would be an important step to take, as it's pretty much impossible to train your skills in the beginning without having to constantly log on.

Because CCP's **** is all apart.
Just listen to the latest audio dev blog. It's very enlightening in terms of how amateur their development process is.
There's not even coordination between developers to make sure they don't make a single change inconsistently to different modules (see the module size changes for example). Or the fact that the enter button in the contract window doesn't start a search. You have to ******* type your criteria, then click. -- Support fixing the EVE UI | Suggest Jita fixes

Agreed.
I've never asked for a skill queue that I could fill up for 3 years of training, then cancel my account for two yeas, then come back and lose a titan due to lolexperience.
I just want to be able to train five to ten 20 minute to 3 hour skills back to back without having to camp at my damn computer.
I mean isn't that half the point of an offline training system? You don't have to grind?

Well, a fix for that is if you account goes inactive (i.e. not payed) skills you have training are stopped. _________

I hope that they don't implement it. Changing skills and having to work around a schedule is what makes skill training 24/7 somewhat exciting. You learn to exchange 2-3 hours of skill training for sleep. Hell last night I decided to let a skill run out at 3am rather than changing it to a longer one. Yeah I lost 5 hours of training time but I have learned that it doesn't really matter in the long haul. So what if you miss out on a few hours of training. It doesn't gimp your character. Remember SP training is not a race because there are people with a 4 year head start.

Any game where you have to exchange sleep for something, is fataly flawed, it shouldnt be a question between sleep and game.

the game isnt flawed but the thinking is if you just started the game there are a number of skills at level 3 and 4 that you can train for over a day if you are older than two weeks and dont have any skills that train longer than two days you are doing something wrong
also consider logging in - before - you go to sleep and changing a skill even if the previous one isnt finished - it might be a novel idea you didnt think of but it works Trashed sig, Shark was here |
