Interesting.
A corp mate came up against a Moa last night, I believe the Moa was dead before its first missile hit his Stabber........
I think the weapons/modules are far more important than the Cruiser itself.

Any ship without the right loadout can suck. What is important is the ships stats and the type and quantity of slots.

The skill determine it, if say you get just enough cash to buy a cruiser without the required medium weapon and MWD skills etc etc then you are gonna suck real bad.

I would say:
Thorax is best to defend a location with its drones deployed and ready.
Maller is the best for attack based on pure firepower.
Moa is the most balanced with 4mid/4low slots and would have the best survivability in a multiship battle.

I'd just like to point out that the Moa is kind of ugly.
If you want to look like a space pimp, the Moa isn't the rig to do it in. I'm not buying ugly, even if it means that I'll be at a slight disadvantage.
I know this is off-topic here, but I just wanted to bring that to people's attention before they buy one and pull it out of the dock, and say, gee this thing is ugly, lol.

With 6-4-4 in slots Moa is most unbalanced cruiser in the game next to Balckbird.
Thorax is 5-2-5. Vexor 5-3-4.
And most of other ships are stucked with 2 medium slots.

"Moa is most unbalanced cruiser in the game next to Balckbird."
Care to explain that one? Look at the Blackbird's powergrid, then look at for example the Maller's powergrid. The Blackbird is a amazing support cruiser, yes, but unbalanced?
I agree that the Moa may have a too strong advantage with that 4th medium slot, though. But I am not sure as it has "only" 4 low slots.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

AHHHHH , what cruiser to buy?
well i went against everyone, and joinrd the very exclucive group of Celestis cruiser owners. sure its not the biggest, fastest or toughest, but i think it offers a nice medium, mines got 3 x turret hard points, 2 x missile hardpoints, 3 x medium slots, and 4 x low slots, about 850-900for shield/armour/structure and it has a drone bay that is currently full of 14 light drones and 2 x medium drones, so its pretty good in defence purposses, and due to the missile harpoints, it can hit as hard as n e cruiser, ive been using missiles at range and turrtes up close, and its been fairly good to me.
and its not too bad to look at, hey its got a spoiler over the engines! oh and its half the price of the butt ugly moa, offers more abilities than the thorax (missiles) and, well, i havnt loked into the blackbird much, but that looked pretty ugly too, and hey, if you gotta die, you might as well looking good while doing it!

Thorax is the best for defence. Bt you need to have some 1337 lvls on your drone skills and drone interface skills.
The MOA is better then the Maller for assult in PvP, but you will have to spend some time training skills up to lvl 5. Such as your missile luncher operation skill so yuo can make good use of those missile ports it has. Need to have cruise missiles or torps. Oh and those torps are good in PvP. MWD to your target. Grab him with two stasis webs and a warp scrambler. Then when at 2km fire your torps. They may be unguided but the poor guy is dead in the water. This will give you a good start.

Maller is best cruiser in the game thanks to buggy/overpowered Heatsinks. Moa would be just as good or better if high end Magnetic Stabilizers existed, but they don't.
Personally I would go Moa because I imagine heatsinks/gyro stacking will get nerfed and high tech magnetic stabilizers will be added to the game eventually. One would assume that, at least. ------ Campaign to remove shield hardener effects, they suck!! |

Guys in PvP short of surprise the big hit is usually the winner. The big hit comes from having lots of low power slots with good mods. Its not a coincedence that mOo picked the dominix battleship to build. Hybrids lack good mods, so most folks don't seem to use them, lazers were the popular choice for a while but according to what I have heard they have been ninja nerfed. I must say at this point I am a little unclear of which weapon choice is the superior one, however whichever you choose the ship with the most damage mods will have the better shot at winning in many circumstances. (organized jamming can have a big impact on that statement of course)

The thorax has unparalelled drone power, only 1 or 2 BATTLESHIPS exceed it in drone bay size.
It's also the best for strip-mining situations where you have a hauler. A thorax can replace 3 or even 4 probes in sheer asteroid-eating insanity.
Its' only lacking point is mid power slots. Best to rely on top and bottom level mods for your strength, rather than mid. Don't even bother with most forms of EW.

All I have to say is Rupture vs. Moa.
Everyone says the Moa is the best, look at its stats compared to a Rupture... It's practicly the same, besides some minor differences. I have seen Moa's take out Ruptures, and I've seen Ruptures take out Moa's. Like everything is based around... Equipment. Equipment is the main focal point that matters. But if anyone says the Moa HANDS DOWN is the best, then you have to say Rupture as well. Stats are to close together to say that is not one of the best.
With that aside, Blackbirds are awsome. Though personally when I fly a Blackbird I would rather like some backup due to its lower weapon equipment.

There is no such thing as a "The Best Ship" These threads are a waste of time. All that matters is the persons skills and knowledge of the systems on the ship, and the equipment on the ship. I seen Ospreys kill MOA, Throax, and Rupture ships. Now that shouldn't really happen, but it just shows how skill, items and the knowledge of those items is the key to victory. Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

i have to agree with booky. equipment wins the fight not the ship. a thorax with all energy nuetralizers in highs and drones for damage pods the rest with a dead cap you cant fight or repair you just sit there and watch the drones swarm, but the new patch is gonna change that a bit. of course im referring to pvp .Whats minning?????

Seriously, it's a shame he didn't listen to the complaints of the (very few) Moa PvPers left and went for a half-baked revamp which does the (already gimped) ship no good.
I hope he won't be in charge with the (necessary) Raptor and Hawk overhaul.
I sense I didn't make a friend here, but frankly either he's among the best EVE PvPers and second rank pilots like me didn't understand a thing about the Moa uberness, or he's flying a 'dev only' version __________________________________________
