Funny? /scratches his head errm... I'll take that as a complement then? /puzzled
You know, I think I misread it. I thought the irony was superb: Act quickly (as in ill-informed), think slowly (as in can't quite puzzle it out) contrasted with the obviously confident and dangerous looking avatar picture. I think I see the serious side now though: Act quickly (as in decisively), think slowly (as in carefully and thoroughly). That matches the avatar. I never saw the ambiguity.
Oh well... I still like the picture.

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 04/01/2008 21:37:23 yes, it's a wee tad different from your initial idea heh (ie, not so funny).
Act quickly= act decisively, firmly and without hesitation think slowly= think things over, do not rush to conclusions or solutions. Take your time to prepare and educate yourself.
In other words; think first, THEN act.
But then, I just might be a tool and have it all wrong, in which case your first idea DOES hold true

I would have more sympathy for the newbies who get scammed out of there mining barge it took them a month to afford by taking a container from someone else, but the second it happens they start the "I wasn't doing anything wrong," and "I was in highsec but CONCORD didn't show" and "Make highsec secure and have PVP zones" type forum complaints.
All of these things have been requested to death since summer 2003.
PVP zones won't happen. It would make EVE to WoW-like.
Highsec will never be secure. For that to happen, you'd need PVP zones.
Who cares if you weren't doing anything wrong. You stole a container from someone else, got tricked and owned.
Actually, by the time the finish typing up there complaint, they could have already have earnt some isk back to get a new mining barge.

I little necro, but I had to bring up this Immortal Literary Character, since everyone else seems to have forgoten that story. Yes, most pirates do not act according to this characters actions, but I wanted to point out that morals are not set in stone and are bendable.

There isn't an honorable way to rob someone.
Robin Hood?
I would a make comment on the use of pointing to the Ten Commandments as the basis for an argumnet but I will not. I just want to see peoples ideas once Robind Hood got thrown into the equation.
P.S. I am not a pirate and personally could not bring myself to gank someone. That is me. Heck I even offered to give back a whole bunch o isk that was mistakenly sent to me in a ransom transaction. The guy said Thank You Keep it and enjoy. He then proceeded to quite EVE a week later and gave me all his isk since I had asked to return the previous isk.
I consider myself someone that understands many of life dynamics and that certain situations can almost justify most actions. So it is a game, enjoy, and play it like Monopoly Balls to the Wall

Did it ever occur to anyone that the OP hasn't been back in over a week? As irked as he was in his/her last post, I'd bet money that he's gone to play something else. Killing his 142nd boar in the human starter town on Thunderhorn, perhaps.

The only thing I don't like about this exploit is that it makes it really hard to form an impromptu gang and get to know other players. Thus you either have to do whatever your corp always does, in your corp's home system, or do something else solo because it's hard to find anybody to join you.

Rules of Eve 1. Trust no one 2. Read the pop up messages before clicking OK 3. Fly only what you can afford to loose 4. Trust no one (this ones important)
This particular game mechanic does suck for newbies. I accepted an invitation from a complete stranger my second day of EVE, was not ganked, and eventually got into a fantastic corporation. I believe that removing this particular "feature" of ganging would not in any way harm, and would in fact help, gameplay by allowing people to work together more easily. That being said, one thing about EVE is that the official game documentation is relatively sparse so the only way to learn about a lot of stuff is to play, and to get burned. (One can actually learn a lot by reading the forums, too . . . .)
Of the above rules, I think that #3 is the most important; if you are flying a ship you can afford to lose, you can afford sometimes to trust people when you shouldn't and have good things happen to you. Also, if you don't lose a ship or two on a regular basis, you're not playing hard enough. ____________________________________

On the other hand, you should be able to join a gang that is at war, if you want to. Sometimes you want to PVP and aren't in any wars yourself. What they should do is, if the fleet boss invites somebody who's in a war, let everybody else in the gang get a "do you want to stay in the gang now?" choice so they can drop out without becoming a valid war target.
