This isn't a thread about Reikoku's position within the galaxy, this is a thread about whether CA or C4 are really pirates or if it is just smack talk from their enemies.
I believe I put forward valid points.
However, please stick to the topic in hand. If you wish to discuss RKK in more depth then by all means start a new thread.

Is this another post that will draw the noob masses to join CA in the hopes of one day becoming cannon fodder pretending to be pirates?

Its hard to pin.
There are allot of good peeps in CA, Unfortunately what undermines that is a few bad eggs and the acceptance of rats into there ranks (the old sinister etc ). The deals with rats (i.e. until recently mOo) and now the deal with FE (another rat organisation that's apparently gone legit). Add to this a very aggressive stance towards all that is not CA and an Imperialist streak that creates an entity that you would not want as a neighbour and one that will also draw alot of flak in the forums from peeps that are unfortunate to come accross the wrong side of them.
I personaly felt it was a pity that such a strong alliance felt the need to attack a much much smaller allaince (CFS). That was not a risk to it at all just to give some of its more aggressive peeps something to shoot at and satisfy some of those ex pirate urges. No allaince wants its own troops to get bored (look at mOo).
my 2 cents worth (not a flame just my observation)

Since the thread is already semi off-topic, anyone else, whenever they heard "CA" think of the Machine Head covor of Ice-T's "Colors"
There's a line in it that's something to the extent of
"The gangs of CA will never die.. just multiply"
-- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |

More importantly, who cares? If you lose a ship to a CA/C4 pilot you'll call us pirates. If you want to post a thread that will make at least 2 pages, you'll mention CA and Pirates.

Not quite true.....
CFS instigated that conflict, and CA finalized it. This is not said because I am a CA member, but because I lived through the entire incident.
No treaty or NAP is valid when the text is changed by one side after an agreement is made.
On topic: I can honestly say that no member of VoTF has engaged in piracy. We have defended our claims, assisted our allies, and participated in Alliance military operations against rivals, but never gate-camped Obe, Yulai, Orvolle...etc.
However, the rumors will persist, and anyone that comes to our core systems without reaching an agreement with our Council beforehand will be prosecuted with extreme prejudice.

In Morkt Drak's article he stated that CA had pirates in their midst and didn't stop them. Those people might have bettered their lives but not all after we witnessed several campaigns of CA members engaging innocent people not in their territories (eg camping in Empire space). As well did they cooperate with pirate corps.
Morkt Drak's view might differ from mine.
They may not be outspoken pirates. But they do not dissapprove piracy either. They even used it for strategic purposes in wars. But other allianced did about the same. ___________________________ Favorite bumpersticker of the month: My head hurts! |

Edited by: Baun on 20/03/2004 00:23:27 Shinra and RUS have been camping a2, killing anyone they can, (just like ATUK, m0o, Roughnecks, Burn Eden ... etc ... etc do). Admittedly, however, the RUS camping may have only been a live "test" of their mobile warp disruptors.
Given, that is CFS space, but they arent just killing CFS pilots and are therefore acting as pirates, which is not something you would likely see FA, SA, CFS or XiF do.
I do not believe that this neccesarily makes CA as a whole piratical, but it certainly makes them ambiguous at best.
The distinction is not as meaningless as some may have you believe, but it is true that pirate or not anyone might shoot you in 0.0 and its simply their choice whether or not they do so and that as such one must be weary of anyone who is not affirmatively your ally.

We will have to agree to disagree I was also there and from the CFS membership and Exec point of view it was seen as unprovoked. CFS did not change any part of the treaty or NAP, Anyway its history now and no point dredging it all up.

Being labelled "Evil" makes Curse the most interesting alliance to live in currently.
Most n00bs are scared of us and so stay in empire, whilst that leaves the real PvP's to come to curse and give us all a laugh and a good time.
We dont care less what you call us, so long as we still inspire enough hate in you all to come to our home and provide PvP on our doorstep. If i had my way CA would be purely PvP Corps and we would gank anyone that messed with us. Mercenary | The Azath |

Well you gotta think of it this way too, concord kills anyone with low sec rating, "pirates". if were a so called pirate alliance why shouldn't we kill anyone in our space? Oh wait Were an empire so its different rules. It's not pirating, it's securing.

Quote: Look at NVA/PA for example, not once has any corp who turned to piracy been allowed to stay within that alliance.
What exactly constitutes being "turned to piracy"? Is that having been involved in once instance of piracy or switching over to it as a lifestyle? Just curious.
Anyway, I feel that most people look at alliances the wrong way, and that is lke one big corporation which moves and thinks as a single unit. That's not the case. I see alliances almost like little cities or countries. Just about everyone in the area wants whats best for the group and tries to achieve that, but you also have your low-lifes and miscriants, in Eve's case pirates.
But like Morkt said, I don't think that any group that has ambitions and goals and who work towards those goals can really be called pirates, so long as piracy isn't the objective.

Piracy was how people got their Combat PvP when the game first started. Now, most of them just fight in 0.0 space, sure some still pirate in empire, but not like they used to.
It's all totally subjective anyway.

Yar, tis boothand the merciless!
Really, CA as an Alliance is not a pirate organization. We are corporations allied together to hold certain areas of non-controlled space for our own. Militant realistate venturers perhaps.
We have pirate corps in our midst, and we do kill anyone in our space. But because one corporation endulges in piracy, doesn't mean the corporation in Curse building ships is a pirate corp.
We moved into Curse and claimed it as our own, like an Empire would if the NPC's played aggressively and offensively. So no CA aren't pirates, but we do house Criminal organizations without hezitation.
The Curse Alliance protects it's assets and space, while fighting wars against our enemies. That doesn't make us pirates, but if everyone feels we're pirates for our actions, I'm going to buy a parrot, an old crusty hat and get me some Minmatar Wenches to row my boat.
If you can't handle the crap, get off the ****-deck and return to empire where the Veld and stuffed animals are plenty.
