I was just wondering if CA or C4 are really pirates or if it is just smack talk from their enemies?

I can tell you that the C4 alliance is definately anti pirate.

If you fire on anything other than NPCs you're a pirate.
Or at least that's what the EVE community tells you. |

Well they are fighting m0o, who are clearly pirates, so you would think that would make them anti pirate. But they are also fighting evolution, who is allied with m0o. Evolution is not supposed to be pirates, but they are allied with pirates...
And C4 is fighting SA, which is also not supposed to be pirate, but tell that to all the innocent pilots they have killed in stain/curse/catch. However C4 is allied with CA, which has as a member, FE, which was definitely a pirate alliance before they joined CA. And there are members of CA that are definitely engaged in pirating as per some other posts in this section.
But I don't think there is any point in figuring out who is a pirate and who is not a pirate. The only question you have to ask is, will they shoot at me?

If you read C4s info thread, you will notice they don't care if there members are pirates/anti pirates, good or evil. but they will fight anybody that is in the way of them claiming an area of 0.0 space.

There are very few pirates left in eve at all. It's a dead profession.
In answer to the question in the topic. are ca/c4 pirates, I would say....... who cares?

The Curse Alliance has killed the pirate proffesion all by itself. Because of all the drama that took place however many months ago, nobody cares anymore.
CA members are letting people know left and right about how hypocritical is that Evolution is attacking them in conjunction with Mo0 when it was things like that which got them in all this trouble to begin with, and they're right. But, nobody really cares about that.
The only thing people really care about is what's theirs. If you come by and blow the crap out of them then grab their loot, they're going to be ****ed. If you come in as a full alliance after a declaration of war and blow the crap out of them and take their loot, they are going to be ****ed and probably call you a pirate.
I just read that article by Morkt for the first time and this really stood out;

That's the truth. Alliances, or any group of like minded people, have interests and goals. Look at NVA/PA for example, not once has any corp who turned to piracy been allowed to stay within that alliance.
The difference is morales. Some Alliances have them, CA don't.
P.S. for once I think Morkt is speaking rubbish by stating CA are not pirates.

2/3 of the CA only know "yes" and "no english" so with every vote atleast 2/3 votes "yes".
