Are pilots buying Black Ops? Seen one in space yet?

My scientist character invented two 5-run Panther BPC and the first built one will pop out of the oven tomorrow. I am worried that it will not sell. I haven't seen much in the way of market activity for any of the Black Ops ships. A few of the earliest ones sold here and there for 800 mil or so, and the market history is dead since then. Do I have a half-billion dollar albatross on my hands? Myself, I won't be able to fly one until April or later. -- Guile can always trump hardware --

I think the main turndown when it comes to these ships is that they can't use covert ops cloaks, which puts them in a similar situation of stealth bombers. Looking for queue-free research slots? I predict CCP will cut the skill req on the covert cyno to Cyno Theory 4 by the time Fanfest 08 rolls around. That by itself won't make the ships popular, since as it was already stated they serve a fairly specific purpose that most people never need, but I'm guessing it would improve demand just enough to make them not regret having added this ship class to the game. When data core prices come down again it will also help. From what I understand the invention and manufacturing costs for T2 battleships are absurd with the trade goods / T2 components market as it is right now. Someone brought that point up in a thread about Marauders.

You'll be able to sell it, if you're willing to sell it at a loss. Otherwise, just sit on it for now, if you can live without the liquid isk. The only people who "make a profit" on them at 514 mil are people who believe their datacores are valueless.

I think you'll find the majority of people currently skilled for a black opps ship look at them and ask what will do more for their fleet. At the moment after insurance price differnce the question is: Carrier, that can remote rep, re-suply cap charges and ammo, and replacment small ships, or a battleship that can sperate itself from the rest of the fleet. Was 1 Pixel to big and you had to nerf it, well fixed now
