I failed to look at the OP, he is right you have to withdraw it in order to get the interest. Wait another week you'll get 5% instead of 2.5% (unless the previous week's interest is compounded for the following week then you'll get 2.5% the 2nd week along with compounded interest from the previous, OP doesn't say which happens).

People are not used to the "withdraw whenever you want to get your interest" method. Not that I don't like the idea or disagree with it but MANY not just me are used to the automatic weekly divvies payout. You and Anne are one big basket full of Eggs :)
