COD doesn't have HDR, Eve does, HDR is gfx intensive, AA isn't. and all the rest the guy above me said. Disallowed sig graphic. Send an e-mail to [email protected] when it meets the forum signature guidelines. ~Saint |

Must be EVE's fault. Silly me. I'll leave you to your wine sir.
You don't get it, do you? This dude with a 6200LE says he gets **** framerates too. I bet if he went to play COD4 he would probably wonder why that is too, since there he would get double the frames, AND double the graphics. (Double the gameplay and enjoyment too, but thats for another thread entirely.)
Why are you still here? Didnt you quit? Stop posting here and play your twitch game with shiney graphics. Leave the horrible graphics and FPS to us. Thanks.

I guess the reason for those low fps is that the premium client models each star in a nearly realistic way. Too bad that they are so far away that all you see is that little blinky light...

PitBull, this thread is most obviously flame-bait.
You really do have no idea how well the EVE devs have done. They cant start from scratch every time they plan an update, unlike a single player game. The EVE devs have to implement new code that will fit in and work properly with existing code, this can be a very difficult job on a big project such as eve. As programmers who originally wrote a certain module, line, page, ect may no longer be around to explain their reasoning behind the way the did it.
I work full time on games programming and can tell you its a difficult job trying to get the best of of the current top range hardware while allowing people with lower spec systems to still play the game.
Oh and btw, I often run EVE on my sony laptop, (FE28B if you want to look up the specs) and with the right settings and gfx optimizations I average 40(ish) fps, thats from anything such as missioning to combat.
But I hardly think it matters as we dont want your kind in EVE so **** off...
Oh and can I have your poorly coded and badly optimized stuff?

The best graphics optimization you can truly do to your PC is to check the temperature of the CPU while operating and while under heavy load (playing EVE). Purchase new PC fans in order to cool the entire case faster and move the air quicker to disperse heat. Purchasing a new CPU fan can be crucial to increasing FPS - I found this with most Intel Dual Core processors which create more heat than I could have even imagined. Most OEM motherboard CPU fans are useless, if you have a dual core cpu go buy a new upgraded super copper heatsink and fan...
I increased my FPS from 70 avg to 150+ just by changing my CPU fan.
Also if you incease really really bad frame rates that drop below 10fps every now and then, CPU temperature could be your culpirate, i spent days trying to figure that problem out. http://www.NewUniverseExchange.com

Ok, so the problem here is personal ignorance.
Let me educate you a bit. All 3d games are NOT equal. Take the standard FPS. An FPS loads an environment usually about 100 square meters to one square mile. The number of unique items is also very limited compared to even tho most basic mmo. Distant objects, like mountains and "unreachable" buildings often aren't even drawn, they are a jpeg wallpaper backgrounds that don't require a significant amount of processor usage.
Now let's look at EVE. Eve loads an entire Solar system as it's environment, Distances aren't measured in meters but AU or kilometers. A moon Hundreds of miles away will be given proper perspective based on distance. There are far many more unique items.
Comparing an MMO to a FPS is like comparing apples to oranges. They are totally different. It's the same in other MMOs where people complain about the difference in framerates between x mmo and x fps. Fps have no where near the number of unique items and polygons that an MMO has. The only exception I've seen to this is MMOs that use skins rather than drawing object detail.

Once I was having trouble with my computer spontaneously rebooting while playing EQ2. Finally, I discovered the problem was dust accumulation in my graphic card heat sink.

Edited by: Tivookz on 05/01/2008 20:50:22 The developers are from ICELAND. The most inbred population on the planet, and you ask us why the client has bad graphics optimization.
Inbreeding is not good for your brain, nor your physic appearance.
Bad brain optimization = bad thoughts = bad graphics optimization.
Nuff said.

This runs COD4 better than EVE? Please explain.
Your problem is that you have a single core processor and not enough RAM, also is your CPU a Athlon or a Sempron? and your video cards memory is slow compared to some cards limiting its bandwidth, There is a lot of texture details in the premium being loaded over and over. I doubt you can run even COD2 anywhere near full specs let alone COD4 because my backup Athlon 3200+ with 2x 512GB Dual DDR and 6600GT 256mb struggles with COD2-3 on higher settings.
The Premium client needs a lots of RAM, from checking my own benchmarks I would say you need 2GB for one client and 4GB for two clients. ----------------------------------------------- My new years resolution is to give up nonconstructive posting |

What are your specific graphics settings in eve that give you the low frame rates? Without that info noone can even begin to figure out why your having fps issues.

HIS Radeon HD 2400 PRO 256MB DDR2,iFan, PCI-Express, DL-DVI/Tv-Out, Retail.
Costs 50 euro at my local retailer.
If you expect the new client to run well on that my young padawan, you are dead wrong.

Waaahhhhhh my computer with horrible specs can't play one of the most graphically advanced MMO's on the market. If you're comparing an online FPS with an MMO you obviously know nothing of how performance in an online game works. I would try to explain, but you seem to just verbally assault anyone who tries to help you out, so nevermind.
