I told you the reason it disapeared and within a few posts you changed the story from camping a gate to just warped into a gate.

Edited by: Rogaru on 07/01/2008 15:15:01 I was 'camping' the gate. But I was sitting off the gate in another grid get my capacitor back from a previous kill - and warped in when the freighter jumped in.
I wasnt physically on the gate when he actually jumped through. Sorry for the confusion.
Anyway - the result is the same - he logged off before I got agro on him.
Thanks everyone for your input.

It won't work though if the guy loggs in another character to force his main to disappear, he should petition it regaurdless of how it was done and if the GM's check the logs and find foul play the sucker will get a shock and have his account banned. Exploiting is purely not acceptable, it ruins the enjoyment for others.
You're wrong, it's not because everybody whines about this that it's true. Logging in another alt from the same account WILL NOT MAKE YOUR SHIP GO AWAY.
Try it... get two alts in same system, one aggresses and logs off. Other alt logs back on and has a bit less then 15 minutes to probe the ship of his alt. The ship will be there and didn't disappear.
In this case, the freighter pilot pulled the plug before he got any aggression on him, so you only have a short time to kill and not 15 minutes.

I'd love to learn what kind of ship can take down a freighter in 30 seconds solo, I really would.
As far as the OP, you contradict yourself a little bit, or maybe just had a nasty bug.
As soon as you agress, their ship doesn't just "disappear"
For example: There was a freighter in system, and I was in an Interceptor. I managed to get a point on him (he was in a safe spot, or at least he thought it was safe...) just before he logged off. His ship was there, with my warp scram active, and he did not eject, and he was not in local. The rest of my mates showed up, and pop, freighter on the killboard, and 100% of the goods survived. Trit is some sturdy stuff.
Taking that, and what I know about game mechanics, and first hand logoffski experience, either you didn't have a point on him, or you're trolling and trying to disguise it. Maybe you had a web on him and he was able to warp off due to that? *shrug* Maybe he was 15km from you, but only 2km from the gate. Different gates have different buffers, and he might have squeezed through and got past you. Did you add him to your address list and check to see if he was still online right after? Did you go through the gate to see if he was in the next system?
No matter what the case is, you failed, and you failed pretty horribly. Good job. www.the-bastards.com |

Have the EvE client open, alt-tab when you want to logoffski. Then type in same username and password instant logoff. Only way to get it fixed is make sure everyone knows about it, if you think I'm wrong try it.

Obviously you decided to reply to this thread without reading all of the posts.

Yes, this has been discussed.

No - there is another possibility.

Once again, you failed to read the post - he had just jumped through the gate in question, which means he was not 2km from it. And I did not have stasis webifers fitted to my ship.
Originally by: VB Sarge Did you go through the gate to see if he was in the next system?
Didnt have to, because my alt was on the other side, and he did not jump through.

No, you failed are reading the post. If you had taken the time to read all the posts, you would have learnt what we have concluded occured.
But to summarise for the lazy people: 1. Freighter jumps through gate unescorted 2. My solo battleship (thus not super instant fast locking), warps onto the gate in question as the freighter uncloaks and begins aligning. 3. In the seconds it takes me to 'lock' the freighter, the freighter pilot logs with no aggression 4. I locked the freighter, put a point on him, and begin firing, but he gets no aggression as he has already logged with no aggression 5. The 'point' prevents the freighter from doing the emergency 1au warp, but does not prevent him disappearing from space 1minute after he logged off due to no agro.

Translation: I got ganked by evil pirates and lost all my stuff. I hates them forever while secretly wishing that I could be as cool as they are.
This thread just goes to prove that Game Mechanic knowledge can make you near unkillable provided you are low enough to use it to full effect. Lucky for us not everyone is a borderline sploiter.

1) He saw you in space after jumping into system. 2) He logged off 3) he became visible to you as the ship starts to do emergency warp 4) he disappeared after 90? seconds because you did not get aggression on him before he logged.
Also if you had him scramed , next time he logs into game he will appear exactly where he was when he disappeared.

They can still logg off under cloak from jumping in. :(
Rifter is not X-Wing CCP. Trinity model kinda sucks. |
