I was wandering around Syndicate the other day in my drake, and in the S-U area started getting chased around by these Tenth Legion guys. Naturally, I asked in local if any of them wants to 1v1 my drake in another battlecruiser, and someone agreed to do it in a harbinger. I bet you already know where this is going.
So we open up a convo, he goes to get his harbinger while I wait, and insists that we use one of his safespots for the fight. I call him out saying that he has lots of friends in system and he may warp me into a blob or a pos, but he persists, saying he has "lots of safes" and "its only 4 AU from the gate". I tell him okay, whatever, I trust him to be a good sport about it.
He says he's ready, I warp to him and engage. Suddenly a falcon uncloaks and jams me. Then a blob warps in and pulversises me.
NOT IMPRESSED.
Now that is very un-Syndicate-like behavior, if you'll ask anyone who lives in the area. It is an act of cowardice on the behalf of the one who didn't carry out the duel with me upon our agreement, and it is a huge act of disrespect from an alliance who, from my understanding, were righteous "anti-pirate"s in Solitude.
So what was their reply when I brought on the guilt in local? "Look man... We've been getting reds walking all over this space in the past few weeks and we are tired of it.. Neutrals-reds... We want them gone"
Okay, SO??? They have sucessfully NOT solved that problem with their actions. I would have had no qualms with these people if they were to have just refused the 1v1 and blob me in station like what normally happens. They could have just camped the way out of the constellation. They could have let me fully carry out the duel and THEN warped in to kill me. They could have caught me in a login trap for all I care. What matters is, this is an alliance who has thrown their reputation out the window to line up a single easy gank, a mere t1 battlecruiser no less which I have already replaced.
Even the "worst" of local smacktalkers and pirates have given me a fair duel upon agreement. It is the respectful tradition, at least in Syndicate, that people just don't cheat each other like that.
What bothers me most is that some of the pilots were former 3rd Front Alliance members who used to live in y4y with me. That was an alliance that was all about being honorable, and those pilots who are now in Tenth Legion I recall being determined to uphold the reputation 3FA had.
I asked for an apology and a very miniscule reimbursement amount for the ship that doesn't even cover half the cost of the fittings plus insurance. I have not recieved a word back.
So Tenth Legion has brought themselves down to the same level as the scammers in Jita. Tenth Legion, I am thoroughly disappointed. It is beyond me how you have any friends here in EVE.

LOL, not suprised, BUT
http://bc.griefwatch.net/?p=kills&iname=Hamcraft&mode=solo I'm confident I can murder any other battlecruiser or t2 cruiser in my drake. And of course the occasional ratting battleship.

Stoped reading right about there...
Never trust anti-pirates, unlike pirate corps they have absolutely no reason whatsoever to keep their word!

PS: But yeah as someone said before, anti-pirates are often worse than pirates because they can get pretty desperate for a kill. -

This is terrible. I've been in your situation many times, and while usually BoB or Tri will accede to our requests of a fair 1v1 honourably, occasionally we get a bad apple who decides to blob us with his friends instead of making it a pure contest of skillpoints. Never though, and I mean NEVER, have I seen it encouraged by a whole outfit the way it sounds like it has happened in this case. I've spoken with our diplomats and we will be setting these punks to -10 posthaste. If we support outfits who act dishonourably to others, sooner or later they may treat us dishonourably after all. Then what will happen to Eve?

Unfair. They are really morons if they did so. C'mon, it was just about a fun for BC exchange if they would do it fair way... Many people lose dozens of ships just to get such a chance of nice fight.

I think "anti-pirating" kinda went out the window when we moved to Syndicate from Solitude, setup in a back-area, and decided to operate on NBSI in said back-area.
Although to be honest whoever accepted the duel to trick ya instead of just using our ROE was acting pretty scummish. PM me with the name and I'll check in on it.

What's the pt of a 1v1 within your own corp/alliance? I agree that Ham might have had too much faith in Tenth Legion, but it doesn't make the situation any less severe. He wanted to warn the general public and he's done that, now we're making them pay in more blood than they could ever spill out of Ham. It's a warning to those people that still enjoy 1v1 and are willing to risk it having them, not trolls like you that can't think for themselves and post drivel. -

You make the muffins look bad. Show some class.
All dishonoring a 1v1 proves is that the 10th Legion sucks so bad, they don't have any faith in their members to fight their own fights and have to blob to win.
Just another bunch of losers to add to the long list of brainless players with no talent what so ever. All is fair in war until you give your word. Then (IMO) you should stand by your word and fight within the rules you agreed to. Is that so hard?

Send a mail to their CEO/Diplomat to fit more cargo expanders in the lowslots because they don't have enough honour!
Anyway, unfortunatly you can't really get many fair fights from people. Espically in 0.0, which effectivly has 'outlaw' rules. Even in empire, you'll find some people's corp mates/NPC alts remote repairing/boosting them when they start losing, it's all part of the eve-universe.
Here are some tips to get honoured 1 vs 1. - As suggested, corp mates and friends are better for 1 vs 1, they're less likely to screw you over. And you can always report them to the CEO of your corp if they don't honour it. - Fight people who actually have a reputation, either the player, or his corp have a reputation, (i.e. Veto is a good corp that honours ransoms/1vs1) - FRAPs is a great tool, make sure to get it running whenever you get into an agreement to 1vs1 someone. Fraps of them breaking the arrangement will lead to loss of reputation/forum drama . - Have a backup gang of your own, of course don't bring them in unless the 1vs1 is dishonoured. This might be taken the wrong way though, some people are paranoid from being ganked by duel dishonoured. - SiSi. If you want to test your setup against someone, it's probably better to go there, more people wanting to test their own setups, and getting a 1vs1 honoured more propable as SiSi kills arn't worth anything. ---

I've always felt this 'honor' business to be rather messy. Why expect anything but the worst when it comes to putting your time and ISK up for loss?
You wouldn't see a pack of wolves let one of their own 1v1 a wounded buffallo because it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense from a Darwinian perspective. Save tests of honor for something like gloves and opening the door for your wife. ---------
