Kudos to the OP for not paying. All you need is some patience to starve these small time rats. Their high sec extortion tactic is so low you'll find there are people who will take them on for free. Heck, even other pirates will shoot them for the fun of it. Rats like them are generally considered to be the low face on the totem pole of piracy and many rats get pleasure from popping them on that basis alone.
Traps can be set for these characters. Chasing them can be fun for pilots and many consider it good practice in a worthy cause.
You could also look into joining an alliance which would give them a lot more to worry about than a small corp composed of what sounds like relatively new players training for the most part in industrial skills.
Take a look at some of the Merc's listed on sticky of this Crime and Punishment section of the forums. Contact them in game to see what they're willing to do for you.

A friend and I were thinking about starting a small manufacturing corp, but it's this kind of war deccing I'm thinking that will just kill that idea. Probably instead we'll just stay in newb corps, and make a non-official corp. Then we don't have to put up with crap like this guy's corp has to.

I'm as much a carefear as anybody, but why are people forming industrial Corps without muscle? I mean, if the OP's 40 man corp just have a small number, perhaps 6 or 8 combat pilots, Ghost probably wouldn't even bother with him and would move on to an easier target. Pirates, in general, are not out to challenge themselves. Most will turn down tackling a bear, when they can kick puppies instead. Don't be a puppy, be a bear.
People who make themselves targets, kinda deserve to be targets.

Join iMune Empire (alliance). Contact Ashley Sky. Lay low for a while to avoid being ganked by other war targets. Let willing PVP'ers confront them. You'll force this corporation to pay high costs in isk for their war. And if they're low on isks (as they say they are) the war won't last long. And they'll also be forced to either fight other PVP'ers or dock themselves. Good luck.

What ever you do,never ever pay these type of people a single isk.

This whole thread is funny. If you pay mercs money, they should just split it with the pirates. Then they both get to PvP for free, since you just paid for all their ships. Meanwhile, you guys need to work harder to earn that money back. lol
So add a combat arm to your corp? That really doesn't help keep the time investment overhead down. Just more to manage, and keeping that combat arm in equipment. Hmm. More work for the same isk. No thanks. You could do all that industrial work out of an NPC corp, without any risk of high sec piracy...for free.
Now it would be different if these guys were a 0.0 alliance. That kind of combat/indi sybiosis sounds like a lot of fun.

You're missing what Ghost and his squeakers are trying to achieve. The don't actually want to fight you. That's a secondary issue for them. The primary goal is getting you to pay isk to them. This gives them an ego stroke and fattens their wallet slightly.
If you try to fight this type of pirate they run if they think there's a chance they'll lose. They're usually very good at running and using high sec mechanics to protect themselves. If they lose, they lose face and isk, right? I once saw a single pirate corp. war deced by four corporations for 4 weeks, one of which was another pirate corp. This single pirate, logged on and was in space regularly, was probed, chased and shot at and not once did this pirate lose her/his t1 frigate. A single pirate can cause disruption to an entire corps mining efforts and then run without losing a single ship.
If you fight these guys, you're wasting your time. As you've already concluded, paying them is far more costly than the simple loss of isk. There is a great deal more to this game than accumulation of isk. Something a large number of pirates don't understand.
Options, such as joining another alliance, are not cowardly options. Your opponent is using game mechanics, the vulnerability of mining ships, and so should you. Just because you join an alliance, even iMune, does not mean you can't also fight.

When my corporation was starting up we were war dec'd by a pirate corp who presented your spin on things. My CEO ended paying the ransom to save the corp from slaughter at the hands of a more powerful pirate corp in high sec. The following week we were war dec'd by 3 (yes, THREE) pirate corps all requesting ransom as well  .

pvp will always find you in this game, look up so cheap effective fit ups man skill points do play a part in pvp but arnet everything maybe in a straight fire-fight youd loose so fight dirty pvp isnt all about tank and dps look down other avenues man!! pul hair poke-eyes etc!! :D

if you really want to fight them take this advice: move the indy part of your corp far away for the time beeing. the ones who want to fight should train to assault frigs asap. you said your in gall space so ishkur is a good bet. 5-8 ishkur in a pack can be pure hell.2 with scrams of some type 2 with damps 1-2 with webs all with 1 med and 4 lt drones 5 should be ecm drones if possible.all with 3 t2 125mm rails with fed navy anti matter,and small named nos. all with ab t2 if possible. pick a target web, damp, scram, orbit at 500m with ab on fire!sick drones on him (should be about 20 or 30 drones)= wtfpwnbbq.dont fly big expensive ships.dont fly clones with implants.dont carry anything but ammo.sighn on when you go to work and sleep stay in station a lot make them nuts.you may be able to bore them to death. that or make an alt ceo and everyone else join npc corps for a while and hide.its up to you dont look for ppl to handel your problems.

It wil probably be allot cheaper to pay the pirates a protection fee, they protect you = job done - alliances are created like this!
or get in your combat ships and enjoy this part of the game to the max

Im a little hazy, 1 2007.06 guy wardecs 41 2007.01-09 people, 41 people *****es in the forum, PAK rushes in to wardec one person....

Not only is the 1 guy hopelessley outnumbered, hes also out skilled by some of the players.
And now PAK has got involved, why??, hundreds of corps are wardecced by much larger corps or much higher SP corps, and no one does anything, then 1 man wardecs 41 people, and because he *****ed on the forums he gets assistance from PAK.
to PAK: your a bigger griefer than the guy who wardecced that corp, should be ashamed, ill tell you what, wait till he gets into a 800 man corp with some members of your skill level and higher, and some less and dec him then, and then the odds will be about even to the odds he faces atm
to the op: you are the biggest carebear i have seen in my entire existance on eve.
When my corp gets on its feet, we will be wardeccing you |

I would like to say that only 1 members is 2007-01-09 and was offline for 6-7 months while playing other games (WoW)-- most of our members are young and btw we are NOT care bears , care bears hide in Imune or npc corps we wanted to fight back against these and other corps who were declaring war (and btw we also didnĘt know it was only just him we believed he had assistance from his corp mates)

I get enough Fleet Ops as it is with my alliance/Corp, its the lag that kills me so.. no Fleet ops (well no BIG fleets at least ;) )

This thread is quite chuckle-worthy. Hunting pirates and extortionists is what we do these days. We want their stuff and the pretty explosions. The Foundation asked for our help and we had the free war slot, so we gave it. Oh, and why pay to the pirates when you can just ask for our help for no fee at all? I can't promise we can get to everyone who asks, but looks like there's more options in the universe today.

Its really simple, Ghost wanted some action and picked on a corp that has no PVP experience and frankly appears to want nothing to do with it. So, in turn we decide to give him some PVP. Its not like we are going to bring 5 battleships to go camp him inside a station, thats total overkill. If anything we will bring 1 or 2 people at a time who are just bored with killing pirates in low sec and want to see what Ghost is up to. So yea, we are the real big griefers here

Very interesting, and fun, to see how this thread played out. The OP puts out a message of inquiry. Not once did the OP whine. The pirate responds with gloating insults. After many smug confident posts, the pirate says, "war over, agreement reached". I read the rest of the posts, but already knew from that what had happened.. After all the boasting? That one line statement? Translation; "I just got my rear handed to me on a platter and I'm crawling off. Please don't hurt me."
As the pirate, Ghost, was well aware this was not a situation where numbers were the deciding factor. He war deced a new industrial corp whose members were young and who were unlikely to have trained much in the fighting skills. He counted on bringing their mining to a halt. Barges and haulers have to head for the barn when a war target hits the system.
A big salute to the OP. Many industrial corps would have simply paid the pirate. Instead the OP got ready for war and he did so effectively. Way to go.
I'm very pleased to know PAK was willing to step in and help. You guys rock.

As the pirate, Ghost, was well aware this was not a situation where numbers were the deciding factor. He war deced a new industrial corp whose members were young and who were unlikely to have trained much in the fighting skills. He counted on bringing their mining to a halt. Barges and haulers have to head for the barn when a war target hits the system.
A big salute to the OP. Many industrial corps would have simply paid the pirate. Instead the OP got ready for war and he did so effectively. Way to go.

im the one who ended it, this has gotten completely out of hand.
Ive canceled the redec votes put in by ghost and reyn.
Ghost is at fault for letting it get those out of hand, and yosef isnt entirely blameless.
PAK need to relax and if they want to police eve, they are welcome to, but they need to realise, in some events, they will end up destroying the corperations they seek to protect, some people, like Ghost and Reyn, either come out better, even or not at all, and will put as much of their funds as possible into hireing mercenaries etc..
To PAK : You are doing a good job, but need to realise that some people are just insane

You should get someone who cares about you, and is willing to be patient, to translate my comment.
In the meantime, it is interesting to note that yesterday Ghost Nightmare, who started in this thread and situation as a member of Sons of Damnation, yesterday switched his membership to another corporation, Dark Excession (EXES). Part of a six member alliance who's only war dec is a single industrial corporation composed of four members. Seems the numbers don't bother him in the slightest when they favor him. A truly shocking developement.
