can you add a turret slot via hardpoint upgrades on an industrial ship like the badger or to any ship that has upgrade hardpoints?
if so, what upgrade should be purchased

Turret and Launcher hardpoints are fixed for each ship, there is no way to change them.
Upgrade hardpoints are for rigs. They are modules that change the attributes of your ship in some way, but unlike other modules they cnanot be removed without destroying them, so they are semi-permenant.

No, and most (if not all of) the T2 variants have no turret hardpoints.

just mine in a cruiser tbh, afk mining in a hauler isnt that profitable

ive had no luck in the cruisers. most of my ore is stolen even in 1.0 space and 6 times now people have come and blown me up out of the blue, concord gets them but still..

that would actualy be cool, to use a rig hardpoint to turn a slot into a missile/gun slot !

This is why you find a nice, empty system to mine in, a few jumps away from any hubs and with a nice, 0-ish local count.
Also, I have no idea why people are suiciding your mining ships, but just laugh at them.
