So yeah, I decided to post my work here.
I've been releasing backstory for my character to the Veto Corp forums for the last two years or so, and finally decided to throw up a link to it here.
I'm a firm believer that people should speak to my character on an IC level to find out more about him, so I've been pretty light with the details in some respects. Those who know the character on an IC level, know a lot more.
Of course, all I ask is that people who choose to read them treat them as Out Of Character information.
Most of the Episodes I've released so far are either a prequel to Ethan's time as an Egger and focus around the motivations he gained to become a capsuleer. There are also stories based around events that have happened in game, and some fiction to flesh out areas of his character and his reactions to given situations.
There's a lot more in the works, and new Episodes tend to appear every week or two.
I've also got a couple of pieces on there that are not related to characters I play in game, and were written primarily as a way of exercising my mind while I was ill.
Hopefully more of those will crop up soon too without the need for illness.
You can find an index of my work in this thread on the Veto Corp forums.
If you feel the need to comment, please feel free to do so either here or in that thread if you'd like to register with our forums.
Please keep it civil if you choose to do so. I'm by no means a professional writer of any sort, and I'm still very much in the initial stages of developing my own writing style.
Full credit goes to "Atienne", also known as Anders Bierberg Hald for his awesome depiction of Verone in "A Visit Home" with his flawless artwork.

Verone, I've only just begun to read through some of your stories, and I have to say, you are a terrific writer. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I'll be enjoying the rest of your stories over the next few days. Thanks for the post and the link. Oh, and the guy who does the artwork featured in "A Visit Home" is brilliant as well. I hope he's in the process of doing a few more pieces for your other episodes.

Edited by: Slade Trillgon on 24/03/2008 11:46:03 Edited by: Slade Trillgon on 24/03/2008 11:44:55 I week or so ago I read a thread that had what seemed like a fictitional in-game convo with a "carebear", I believe you, and I EVE laywer? or something of the sort. It was quite hilarious.
I believe it was written by you and had you in it, but I am not 100%. Either way Just read the A Visit Home. This, I tell you sir, is of a quality that I would expect to see in here ----> Heavy Metal. And I have read this magazine for years.
Excellent sir. Well Played/Written. If I ever choose to do the Yarr, I think I will settle for no less then Veto Corp, based on forum presence, game reputaion for honoring your ransoms 100%, and your writting to top it off.

EDIT: P.S. The sig is friggin hilarious. I forgot how much it made me laugh before the sigs got shut off. LMAO!!!!

You write awesomely. The combat sequences in particular show an expert method of word usage, and downright poetic flair.
You should totally have these stories illustrated - there's a few guys in Eve that did amazing art for my stories, talk to Tajidan or Pallantre (Uuve Savisaalo) for example. Might cost a few hundred million, but well worth the ISK. Pictures will bring your writing to life.

That's pretty flattering given the quality of the work you've put together in this section of the forums.

Okay, so I've finally added an Episode I've wanted to write and release for a long time.
As an Engineer I've always been fasicnated by the concept and technology behind the capsule and it's interfacing. One of the scenes I've always wanted to depict is Ethan's first immersion in the capsule, and the technology encountered while a person is prepping for capsule based flight.
I've always assumed that given the speed of prep in player terms, that interfacing with a capsule isn't a long, drawn out process, but is made as quick and easy as possible for both the sake of the capsuleer and for efficiency in combat if there is a need to be in space within a given timeframe.
Being somewhat of an purist in terms of sticking to Eve's prime fiction, writing this episode has been something I've toyed with for a long time as it involves delving into some grey areas of the game's backstory that aren't clearly defined or explained, hence I've only gone into as much detail as I'm comfortable with for now.
Hopefully you'll enjoy reading it as much as I have the challenge of writing it while sticking to the basis of prime fiction. Of course, I've intentionally been light on details in places due to the lack of techincal backstory on the capsule and it's technology, but where possible I've used my own knowledge to improvise and (hopefully) remain in line with PF.
As with anything that looks into a previously unwritten area of the backstory, I feel it is prudent to privide some form of citation as to where in the PF the inspiration came from.
The main source of inspiration came from the article Polyvessel Pilot : Capsule Cleared which outlines pod and cloning tachnology roughly and the technology behind it. As far as collecting technical data goes, the bulk of the mental image came from here.
As well as that, the inspiration for breathing apparatus, notably the two nasal tubes and lack of a full face mask or intrusive tubing came from the Eve Chronicle The Communication Relay Comittee, where we see the only really detailed image of an immersed capsuleer that CCP has provided us with to date.
To top this off, the idea of the "Neural Jack" came from the phyiscal inspection of corpses in game (ewwwww) under the new Trinity graphics engine. Look closely enough and it can be seen that they have a single large neural interface in the back of what appears to be the Parietal bone of their skull. As well as that, several corpses I've inspected (purely for the purpose of research, you understand ) have been shown to have a similar smaller jack in their left forearm, hence the inspiration there too.
Regardless of reference, I've attempted to stay true to my own writing style and provide as much detail as possible without going too far and contradicting PF.
"Episode 27 (XXVII) - Immersion" can be found at the bottom of the list of episodes linked in the original post for your reading pleasure.
As always, feedback is much appreicated.

For those that enjoy the descriptive combat writing I do, a short Episode, number 28 is now available centering around a contact our corporation had with several Serpentis ISD characters in Vlillrier. They were a scouting party for the carrier full of narcotics that was subsequently detained by the Federation.
Enjoy.

Congrats on hitting 50 episodes. Have only begun to follow the episodes since last month but I really like them. I know I hate it when people say just that but I can't add anything constructive. Just keep writing I guess and don't change too much to your style. Hope to find the time someday to read through the rest.
