Throwing in my 2 pence as the apparent sole beleiver of Kyonism here.... What defines a God, the ability to change the world or to change the one who changes it? This would be an example of the God Paradox, as if god is infinite in power then nothing should be able to have power over it, hence Kyon who would be a better candidate for god. There is also the concept of conspiracy in the series, and is it not possible that Kyon is god, and merely created the IDI/Organisation after being told of their existence? He trusts Nagato, when she tells god she is an alien, she is an alien, all that matters is that god beleived that to be reality.

According to the series, the universe is a paradox. The universe is 3 years old according to the anime, and only exists because she brought it into existence, I think that's proof of the Haruhi slider thoery to be honest.

It gets complicated, but my view is that the future humans are for intents and purposes on a parrelel universe. From the IDE Haruhi hacks reality and molds it to her subconsious, from that pov everything BH could be just the BIOS and at 0BH the system started, everything allive beleived the past had happened but it was all just pseudo-memories. If I try explaining it further it would be meaningless, anythign after this you would figure out easily if you have this pov or it would be intelligible from what I allready said

Originally by: Dark Shikari[/quote Its because, with Haruhi's power, everything in the world naturally goes the way you want it. Everything is "scripted," in a sense, to result in something you'd be happy with. Its the ultimate luck.
Something that may be of interest to you DS.... Haruhi

Still going through the novels, but the Kyon is god makes more sense than Haruhi is god. How would you have Haruhi do something so strange she becomes self aware and have a backup plan, as the IDA would naturaly have. There (afaik so far) is no backup plan. However, if you look at it as Kyon is god, the backup is there - Haruhi. Kyon does something unexplainable all one of the other three have to do is imply/say it was Haruhi and all is well.

The question of course being--does everyone know its really Kyon, and they're hiding it from him?
Or does nobody realize it?
Also, on the topic of the 9th book--I personally prefer to ignore it completely when discussing the series, because for one, halfway through the story bifurcates into two seemingly "parallel universe" timelines which diverge drastically--and its not revealed by the end which one becomes actual reality. So we're all waiting for the 10th book.
Either way, it is fact that all partys are willing and whatever the outcome actively conspiring against god. I think that it wouldn't be much of a difference moraly from their pov for it to be a conspiracy to contain Kyon by giving him some supernatural and accepting it as a limit, instead of letting him be rampant and not knowing. To be honest I like the way in the first book (I think it was) Kyon lists Time Travelers, Aliens, Espers and sliders, aka dimension crossers. The last Haruhi noticibly leaves out, and if the 9th book has parallel universes then Haruhi being the slider of Kyons view of the supernatural might work, but since I haven't read it yet I suppose you would have to be the judge of that making sense or not....

Originally by: Haruhi Suzumiya Normal humans don't interest me. If anyone here is an alien, a time traveler, slider, or an esper, then come find me! That is all.
Note to self - do not base arguements on a novel I read in July

Originally by: Dan Glebitts But the mole... The mole! Why wont someone explain The Mole
Love this series and to think I almost switched it off mid way through the first episode because I mistakenly believed it housed all the tired n horrible anime cliche's that I despise!
Props go out to Saiyar for making me watch the rest.
The mole - of all the things in this anime you want explained you want the mole....
....well tough
I skipped chunks of episode 1 first time, I suspected it would be explained at the end (and it was) then I rewatched it.

She has only every realy done a rewrite of the universe once, 3 years previous to the chronological start. The series is about trying to stop her doing it again. There are those that think they failed the last time.

So you finally understand why Haruhi is so much fun!
Agreed, this is what makes it interesting. If it's all in subconscious desires then things do turn out strange.....

We already know that Lucky Star was just viral marketing for season 2 of Haruhi though
Meh, regardless I actualy like Lucky Star in some way, watched a few episodes but it's nothing I would watch in one go like Death Note or something.
