15km/s inty's are NOT common and are NOT cheap. without 50 million in rigs, and without very expensive implants no plain t2 inty will read 15km/s no matter how hard you try. that requires dedication, skills, and a LOT of isk. for the amount of effort they put into that they shouldnt be easily nuked by a slow battleship. in fact, the entire point of the class is to lock down a battleship and be that gnat that is hard to kill.
what youre asking for is to change interceptors to not be interceptors.
also most battleships could disable an inty with a neut pretty easily and with some skill find a way to pop the capped out inty. just my opinion. i fly intys a LOT. i love them, but if someone looks at you funny, you pop. speed does not equal invincible.... look at vagabonds.. (yes, vagabonds do die.)

Originally by: James Lyrus Max skills a precision light missile goes 8400m/sec. But has an explosion velocity of 4500m/sec.
Strikes me that's a pretty slow inty.
*shrug*. I'd maybe agree about them being useful, if they didn't slow you down when you loaded them. The support ship that's chasing after other 'ceptors really can't afford a speed penalty.
But then I guess it'd be a T2 ammo that was actually useful, so meh.
On the subject of explosion velocity, I would like to see an increase in precision heavys.
At the moment you've got: Precision light: 3000m/sec (4500 with skills) Precision heavy: 1000m/sec (1500 with skills) Precision cruise: 1000m/sec (1500with skills).
2000m/sec sounds a bit more reasonable, wouldn't you agree?
No I wouldnt agree at all.
Explain to me, with facts and reasoning, why the speed of missile should be increased? '2000m/sec sounds a bit more reasonable, wouldnt you a gree?' is not a discussion.
To OP. I understand where you're coming from but the simple fact is that not everyship, in every situation has a counter to every other ship, in every situation - that would be, erm, boring? In your situation a heavy neut is a good defence, but that obviously requires a trade off with your ship setup.

Battleships are not meant to be solowtfpwnmobiles. They work best against targets of similar size.
If you want to gimp your setup to fend off Inties and other small stuff, use Heavy Neuts and light Drones.
Otherwise, bring friends or log off. ;-)

so 6.3km/s with all the fancy skills then add a couple of drone navigation augmenters and then they go faster.... what's the problem here?
p.s. my cepter is currently goin 7.4km/s with a gistii a-type mwd T2 od's and nano without any rigs so that's what 150mill of mwd another 50 mill for rigs and then another 120mill for faction od's no way in hell should some rubbish little T2 drones be able to catch me

15km/s is overheating the MWD right? You expect ceptors to permaoverheat while holding you down and waiting for its friends or something? ---

Scary thing is, with rigs and modules, yes they can. Warrior IIs are ownage. Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Originally by: Guillame Herschel It'd be nice if the Stealth Bombers got a bonus to cruise missile explosion velocity, though. The explosion radius bonus does ****-all to a speeding interceptor. The SB's cruisies should be the inty's nemesis within the frigate ship classes.
For once I totally agree with someone. Although swapping the bonuses would make it even less effective against any ship below a BC.
Not sure how to balance this though; swap a damage bonus or the cloaked movement I guess, sadly I like both of these bonuses.
How to balance it ? Add that bonus on top of the others , I have yet to see a whine about overpowered stealth bombers Using precision cruises with a stealth bombers means you will lack the CPU for missile upgrades and ewar (possibly improved cloak too) , missile rigs are a significant expense and further gimp your setup. The sole purpose of that ship would be to pop overpriced inties and maybe pay for itself with the dropped loot.
While waiting for a new AF role , ishkur really could use a drone velocity bonus. Its bandwidth restricted it to light drones , but it has no bonus for those.

NO! That would make the assault launcher obsolete. Assault missile launcher with precision lights is the way to go and the reason it got introduced. (Especially on a support nighthawk).
On the other hand, use rail/arty from a distance (needs a second ship) to pop the inty.

It's funny to see people suggest that a heavy neut on a BS is a counter to an interceptor.
My Ares can orbit and hold a point 3 km beyond heavy neut range, while running a cap surplus, and going around 10 km/s.
A solo battleship is really not going to stop me from tackling him, unless it's a scorpion.

my solution to intys was (pre trininty i just resubed today) to fit a t1 Stabber with a t2 MWD, t2 220mm AC's and t2 assault launchers, with T1 ot T2 nano/overdrives. and a pair of web/scram.
the idea was to make the lone inty think you are an easy kill. then use the MWD up to 7 or 8 km/s sprint to him and web. once webed and scramed, your 6 med t2 wepons basicaly do the trick.
i killed off the scouts/tacklers for a whole home defence fleet like this, though the last one called the fleet and t1 tacklers in time they got me too :(
good cheap setup to use on not so cheap ships.

Funny because its only the 'tackler' tier intys that get that range bonus. It almost seems like CCP WANTED to push them outside of heavy neut range. Why would they do that? Oh yeah, because its most of the ceptor's job in combat.
The ranis, sader, crow, and claw all remain inside heavy neut range. As do Sac's, Vaga's, and a myriad of other nano ships. It seems to me that if the ship you're worried about has even a chance of breaking your tank: he's inside H. Neut range.

Fit a heavy neut along with those Warrior II's.
Then no inty can do **** to your battleship.
They will probably escape but they wont be keeping a point on you.
And an inty should be able to engage a battleship at will with no real chance of dying assuming he flies properly. . .. WELP! .. . |

Strikes me that's a pretty slow inty.
That's slow in a straight away, but that's about right for a max skills t2 inty orbitting in scram range. So, as it is you'll hit an orbitting inty for nearly full damage with precision light missiles, reduced damage if he's flying in a straight line (though not that reduced...he'll still need to gtfo pretty fast).
Drones have a different problem with inties. The speeds given are their MWD speeds, but they turn off their MWDs once they get in firing range. This means they go through an endless cycle of MWD to target, fire a salvo, get out of range. They'll wear an inty down over time I suppose, but usually my gang has arrived by that time.

Even if precision light missiles were the be all end all solution to inties I don't think I'd be putting them on a battleship. That is a fitting that only has a practicle application in one scenario - fighting off an interceptor, thus reducing the overall tactical flexability of my high slots (I.E. ability to slug it out with other people or nos/neut them or whatever).
I would like there to be some sort of weapon that I could sling at a super fast ship to hurt them, but to be honest there are only a FEW super fast ships that are able to do damage at speed.
Overall, I'd say the only really defense against inties for a battleship that remains tactically flexible overall is a heavy neut/web combo. Worst case scenario is if you get one of the two on them they'll leave you alone - if they don't then the instant that MWD powers down they pop.
But then again, I've never had a problem with an inty just locking me down for hours - in any instance where I was snagged by one his friends arrived in short order and all of a sudden it didn't matter if that one inty was holding me since other people generally put webs and whatnot on you too.

I agree with the op only if they buff the dps of interceptors to match a hac...or hell maybe even a BS ! Then you would be on same terms!
I agree with the guy who says that this is a rant about getting caught in a belt.
