Is there any chance we could get some kind of estimate on when non-default installs will be patachable with this?
And will win 2k users be able to take advantage of it? I noticed you only listed XP and vistas as far as windows clients go.
Also, what about patch notes, and what actually changed?

Why do you have a test server if you're testing on Tranq?

One would have thought that they would TEST things properly now before releasing after the boot.ini failure.
And why no announcement in advance?! Where are the patch notes?
Even the best patch suffers if not communicated properly, way to go...

Does it really matter?
At the end of the day:
- It's their game, they can do whatever they want with it. - They aren't part of some massive govt conspiracy to act as big brother and spy on you no matter how much you whackos think they are. - 4mb is hardly a drain on bandwidth no matter how many clients you have (took me less than 15 seconds to download, apply and log in ). - It is not your right to get patch notes. It is merely a perk as a customer.
Stop whining and be thankful that CCP can fix minor bugs in this way.

No you couldn't be more wrong! It's part of the on going conspiracy by CCP to remove all our images, first our bootimages with the attack on boot.ini, this patch could be converting Eve to a text based MUD, and deleting our jpegs as we speak!
The forums are here for your protection! --

Not everyone has a adsl/cable connection, and try downloading 4MB on 6 machines on a 125k line..
Besides we aren't beta testers, we are paying constumers, and this is not a nice way to treath your costumers.

i bet you wouldnt talk this way if you couldnt log in and needed to switch a skill.
even then, this is ****poor practise, even more so after running the game for 4+ years.

Be that as it may, the lack of communication is still greatly frustrating.
My first thought when the patch installed was "Hmm, what's been nerfed?". My second was "Huh? Where's the patch notes?". My third being "Hmm, I wonder if anyone's tried rebooting yet".
Given that CCP's prior record with patching leaves even newbies like myself suspicious suggests that keeping an open line of communication with the user base would be a really good idea. Unfortunately, we aren't seeing any of that and when a company goes silent there's usually good reason to suspect a charlie foxtrot has just taken place.

What bothers me is that after all this time, and GM's appologising for the lack of information about this patch, still no announcement has been made on the players news center or in the server logon MOTD.. this is a disgrace and CCP should know better after all this time.

Running Win2k from D:
Copied "Compled Code" into the directory specified (on the d: drive).
Logged in.
Finishes Bulk Data.
Just sits there ... like it was doing the first hour and a half.
I had to create the CCP & EVE parts of the
D:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP\EVE\dd7d3d04d133729bde20677ec76f5d63
directory as they did not exist before.
Just for the record ... I already tried rebooting ... but it came up fine so it's not another boot ini problem.

I too run Win2k SP4 and it is not working, I can't log in. Not only have I tried rebooting and reinstalling, I've tried everything that support has suggested. This is a nightmare. I swore today would be a good day and it starts like this, astounding. I hope CCP fixes this problem extremely soon. And please, a plaintive request, stop messing with things that aren't broken and start messing with things that are. When I'm ever able to log back in I will have lost all my bookmarks, my settings, my contacts, my logs, my overview settings, my windows placement and quite possibly my ship. This is the worst day ever so far and I have had some pretty bad ones in this game. I can't even figure out how to play it still and I've been at it for 8 months. A total nightmare.

How about the manual fix for windows 2000?
Im only relatively new to Eve as its runs for years this seems a bit unprofessional testing a patch on a live server and not even informing players using it.
Oh, and as paying customers you have a right to a fully functioning game

the most likely path would be D:\Documents and Settings\<your user>\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\ as that already existed. however it did not work for me. Tried creating the given xp path too, aint working either.

Originally by: Mephysto My apologies for a lack of forewarning. This is a new patch system we are trying out. The correct sequence is:
Log in as normal after bulk data acquisition, the new patch will d/l there will be NO install dialogue client needs to restart log in again.
Ok I am willing to give this a try - but if there is NO install dialogue - How do I know when the patch has downloaded or do I just leave it there for 15mins or summat before i do a restart?
Its done when its done - Its Ready when I'm Paid |

2hrs after I started this thread, and still no answer from the Devs as to what was installed, what was changed, why there wasnt an annoucement before this patch.
Some may ask why it is important to know in advance about CCP patches? I like to know when there is a patch coming, so I dont log in and have set my skills accordingly. I always try and stay clear of Eve for 4-8hrs after a patch is deployed for all those bugs that slip through to work their way out.
Seriously this is just further indication that the levels of Customer Service that CCP has always had a problem with are further slipping into chaos. Instead of all the fancy stuff you guys are working on, how about getting back to basics taking care of the customers you already have instead of worrying about the customers you might get. --
