CCP PLEASE make this patch available for manual Download. My Autopatcher hasn't worked since REV II, so I will need the manual version in order to get my EVE fix for the morning.

My apologies for a lack of forewarning. This is a new patch system we are trying out. The correct sequence is:
Log in as normal after bulk data acquisition, the new patch will d/l there will be NO install dialogue client needs to restart log in again.

Yeah ok great, but what was the 4mb patch for? What was changed? Were root commands issued? --

Edited by: Tragan Molleneux on 17/01/2008 12:49:42 well I filed a petition as the download seems to not take place in time. The client goes back to login prompt after timeout and repeats the process.

Perhaps you guys should work that out before auto patching ? or did you guys just assume that 100% of people would auto patch ? Really looking at your past performance, how could that be so ?
Nice work.

LOL @ CCP.
This is what happens when you move all the good talent to your new games and leave the garbage behind to run EVE. Great idea to "test" an auto-patch feature on the live population.
2 desktops patch fine, notebook wont autopatch. Waiting for the manual patch, and CCP are you capable of telling us whats in the patch or is that beyond your ability as well?

Worked fine here so no complaints but i'd still like to know
- Why there was no warning or prior notification
- Why there are no patch notes (what has been changed?)
- Why there was no manual download in place before testing took place

Will this mean we can log in and play whilst it downloads in the background ?
If not, why bother changing a system that seemed to work OK.
If yes, why not just wait and install the patch when the client is restarted next time.

Manual patching:
Please note that these are default locations for English Windows installs only. The programmers are currently working on a tool to resolve this problem for those people with non-default/non-English installs.
Download the file here
You will then need to create the following directory, and place the file in that directory. As before, these are default directories, so if you have a custom install this is unlikely to work.
Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CCP\EVE\dd7d3d04d133729bde20677ec76f5d63
Vista C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE\dd7d3d04d133729bde20677ec76f5d63
Linux (Ubuntu) /home/<user>/.cedega/EVE Online/c_drive/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/CCP/EVE/dd7d3d04d133729bde20677ec76f5d63

Well CCP great job... NOT...
Multiple system users run SAME eve client, I run it pops out patch, downloads 4mb, patches, restarts client... and downloads again.... WAY TO GO LOL...
I run eve as admin (it's win vista) it downloads the patch... applies... restarts... I logon... this time no patch - cool it's patched...
But is it? I run second account (eve is started with different system user using runas) and it's guess what... not patched and downloads 4mb file AGAIN - to same client that was just patched... of course it fails to patch due to lack of admin rights.
Next time make sure you actually test such a great feature... :/ and btw - what 4mb of **** and vir was downloaded? :P
