Quote: So now i'm stuck thinking... well hell.... what's the point of playing at all? If I can make a million or two per hour now, once I get a mining ship and start mass mining expensive minerals I'm going to be making much, much more. So any time I spend now is worth only a fraction of my time spent in a month or so. I already have enough money to afford my new mining equipment once I learn the skills to use it, so there's no point in logging on except to change my skills.
If you don't log on to do anything now, you'll end up throwing away money later. Had you spent your month running missions, for example, you could've started building up standings with a NPC corp so that you could refine your minerals without the station taking so much. Not to mention that if you go the industrial route, you're most certainly going to want standings to set up POS's and the like. And yes, you could always just wait, then come back and *****the low level missions, but believe me, doing so sucks and is pretty boring.
Quote: I came from WoW and was looking for something different cause I was bored. EvE is certainly different and I like that, I just feel stuck. Here's a WoW analogy.... It's like being stuck at level 10 and being unable to make my experience bar move ANY faster. So... at lvl 10 you can farm crappy mobs (for chump change) or copper (for chump change) you can't even really PvP competitively unless you have a group with you. If all it took to level up in WoW was time... why would anyone log on until lvl 70? Most everything up until then would be spinning your tires.
In EVE, you always need money. Every little bit counts. Where you would grind for XP in a game like WoW, you grind for money in EVE. If you go industrial, you'll be wanting to buy expensive POSs, freighters and the like. If you plan to PvP, you'll find that it can be quite expensive to keep ships equipped.
Quote: Now... I've heard the mantra around here. "All you need is a warp scrambler and you can PvP!" well... sorta. You need people with you to actually do the damage. I've gone into low-sec a bit and I see people flying around in battlecruisers and crap... yea fat chance I have against that. Even if I did get into a PvP group... one hit and I'm toast then I get to escape pod home, yay. Seems like the only corps recruiting newbs with low skill points are other newb corps who don't stand a chance in PvP either lol.
A lot of this comes down to how bold you're willing to be. There are plenty of people out there who have gotten started pirating in T1 cruisers, or probably even some in well piloted T1 frigs. It's all about picking your fights. See someone in a BC? Leave 'em alone. Wait for the guy coming alone in the frig/cruiser or something that you can actually handle. There are plenty of places out there to catch people in low-sec, you just have to go looking for them.
And there are people out there who pvp largly in cheap T1 frigs or cruisers. Yes, it takes numbers, but it's great fun and hilarious to watch. If you really want to try it, look up Agony Unleashed and take their basic pvp course.
