As a 2 year vet I say yeah cool.
I'd like to see them available but at the price of a genetic mutation meaning you can't train any further skill points.
Instead you can re-manipulate your skill points every so often with the right expensive Jovian equipment and techniques.

Yet another jackass who thinks playing a video game for a long time means they deserve something special.
"Veteran rewards" are one of the many reasons Star Wars Galaxies sucks so hard and no one wants to play it anymore.

Bad idea, vets get enough perks as it is. Anyway, I'm hoping that when they finally do get introduced, they'll be sufficiently gimped that theyre sort of a 'finesse class' if you will, great for doing whatever jovians do but not something everyone and his dog is gonna go out and train for.
That being said, it would be cool if vets got some purely cosmetic toys, like an apoc shaped like a beer bottle or something. Other MMOGs are starting to do this as a little incentive to stay beyond the 8-month average or whatever it is now. _________________ [IMAGE REMOVED] -- aka Cpt Bogus -- Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Yeah, because you're the third or fourth owner of a four-year-old character.

You do get something. You've had the opportunity to get on all the ISK-printing bandwagons, the opportunity to accumulate 60 million+ skill points, the opportunity to form and administrate a major alliance, etc.
In other words, considering how this game works, the fact you've been playing for four years already is enough of a reward in and of itself.

Shwedagon Paya, that is not the point. The point is within the in-game mechanics, any old characters should qualify. It is a continuity thing. I am sure you are smart enough to see why. --------- Technica impendi Caldari generis. Pax Caldaria!

There is also a non-player race, The Jove, which is there to ensure that there is at least one thread a week is created on the official Eve Online forums asking when the Jove will be playable.

What would be the difference, you cant use items and ships until you take X amount of time to train it, so time is already an issue. Why not apply the same to races?

More money: I'm not seeing all that free money, but if you say so, sure.
Better attributes: Not everyone picks Achura, dude.
More skills: Oh, wow, 800k SP to start off with. That's what, 15-20 days' head start?
Requirements/protection/nerfing: Which you also have now.
ISK you can buy: You have that now, too. And not everyone buys ISK.

As a new player, I have no problem if a veteran wants a special jove perk - I propose you can have any character you want become Jove, that character will only have to pay 40M SP taken from thier highest ranked skills. Oh wait... the OP wants to have 60x more SP than a new player AND get special perks beyond that simply for being old? . |

Yeah, cause starting with 900k skillpoints equals 60m skillpoints. And starting with 500k equals the isk you were able to make in the past 4 years that gives you an advantage over new players. And your in-game experience equals that of a new player.
Oh wait, the other way around.. My bad. That said, 'nerfing' (how is that an argument?), better protection, less requirements, isk you can buy, it all applies to you as well.
The fact that you even mentioned 'isk you can buy' is just another argument that totally destroys the 'we've played for 4 years, we deserve it more' reasoning. Why? Cause you can grind for 6 months and buy a 48 month old character, or just buy isk and buy one. Then those who do not deserve it get to play this extra race, while others don't.
This'll just further widen the gap between new players and uber players which will ultimately destroy EVE in a few years, when people with 500k isk and 900k skillpoints can be wardecced by a corp worth in total 50b isk with in total hundreds of millions of skillpoints (among its members).
EVE is fun as it is, and having played for 4 years has a massive advantage over new players. Else you'd probably not be playing on your 4 year old player, but just made a trial account every 2 weeks, according to your logic.
My last post, as I like to help others go from (what I see as) wrong to right.. But if you won't accept it, then I won't try. That said, I'll bet 500billion dollars on it that CPP won't ever do this, so it's not worth any more posts from me.

CCP would have to be so careful if they where ever to introduce the Jove because SWG set the precedent of having a hard to obtain uber race and look how that turned out.
To become a Jedi was very difficult and the char could suffer perma death, lots of people began to figure out how to become Jedi but then whined about perma death, so they removed perma death but people where whining they couldn't become Jedi so bit by bit they made it easier to become one which upset the people who used the older more difficult methods. ----------------------------------------------- My new years resolution is to give up nonconstructive posting |

i actually sugested something similar, just with skill points instead-- i would ofc say yes to this idea also... BUT whatabout letting people with 80 mill sp get the ability to become jove, AND in the process loose all skill point, and start in the jove world fresh.. normal players should not be able to enter jove space BUT one day the border is open-- and a new war can start.. JOVES versus the rest.. mmmm now this idea i would FULLY indorce.. this idea would also make some people not wanting to go jove as they cant fly anything but frigs again hehehe.. but theresso many other positive sides to this.. like u wouldent see many macro miners in jove land.. i doubt the farmers have 80 mill sp yet :) OMFG
I am the widowmaker stay tuned.

Better yet.
A player can become Jove after a certain skill point level. but in doing so they lose their current ship command skill points, and Jove Characters (due to their genetic defect) cant be cloned and suffer perma-death.
