I'm almost positive the system name is Shastal, but the City of God itself is detailed in one of the EVE Chronicles, so you can likely find more information about its location there.
A long time ago, I received a bookmark to the pinpointed location from a friend, but I've never had enough time to journey out there and feast my eyes upon that wonder.
I'd like to second that but unfortunately people have been littering the place with stupid cans. It's not as eerie as it used to be when it was a rat spawn. The way the cruisers and frigs used to fly around the structures was cool.
NB:If any Dev is reading this could you perhaps look at clearing up the cans? It's cultural vandalism :-/
I remember back in '04 (when I were a noob, barely knee high to an Ibis) I ran agent missions in Lower Debyl. It felt like a quiet backwater that had been left behind. Then I got sent into Shastal and found out about the City of God. As an Amarrian it made me quite sad. But I went home and whipped some slaves so I soon felt better :D -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Head down to the triangle below Paye, the task insterlation is there. Also head to Ned, trisot, and there was another one up there, but the vast amount of low sec make that a little difficult unless your in a quick ship. But since the npc's left it isn't as fun. |

Edited by: Aliana Valrena on 22/01/2008 13:55:34 Just made it to the EVE gate the hard way...nice little 33 jump trip. Very eerie, but cool place...and the site of an odd occurrence.
After bringing my little Executioner up to it's meager speed of 943 m/s and heading straight at the EVE gate, a pirate showed up. I was moving far to fast for him, so he used one of the cans ahead of me to warp to a better position, brought out his drones (I believe he was in a battleship) and at 50km sent them after me.
They got 4 shots off, then he and the drones disappeared...don't know if he disconnected, as he still showed up in the local chat channel, but he was not on my overview and hadn't warped away (the disappearance was instantaneous), and the fact that it happened near the EVE gate just added to the mystique of the area.
Anyway, I think I'll find myself on a similar journey as Mischa Barton.

I've raced through that system in the ISGC racing series it's nuts.I have a pretty good sized cap but I still had to stop twice jumping through there.

Don't want to ruin the mystery, but you just went off-grid while he stayed in the other grid. This happens everywhere.

eve space is laid out in a 1000x1000x1000 cubed grid. once you pass over the 1000km threshold you disappear from the overview. cuts down on lag or something Azia Burgi http://azia.geekandproud.co.uk BP Profit Calculator EVE Cemetery |

our can spam is monument enough.
edit: plus they would never give us anything worth while as a monument but there should be a huge permeant wreck there.

I like the sound of this Cpt Farnham, we'll see how my shuttle stands up to a little harrasment. Paye is now destination 3.
After the relatively crowded trip to the Eve gate, I'm now pushing through 0.0 about 20 jumps from the Titan wreck in C9N-CC. While the map shows almost no kills for the whole route in the last 24 hours, the ships that pass through are piloted by people whose bio's indicate they have no respect for human life. So far none have bothered to kill me.
I had a break in system AX-DOT. Parked my ship and went to admire the rats in the various belts in my pod. Sansha's live here, in some version of the Nightmare. Tonight should see my ship posing next to the Titan wreck, and then the long haul to Paye can begin.

I really hope IAC will turn back to NRDS, because being an ex-drunkenswarmer I want to go bar hopping in Catch once ambulation hits.
Yeah. Eve gate. Been there saw that. Left my alt there for a year.
Make sure to collect souveniers. I was picking up an implant I'd left on the other side of the galaxy and I decided to stop at Amarr prime. There was a nice corpse floating next to the monument. Free souvenier!
And also to be a true hithhiker you should go see Ursa Minor. ----- They've gone to PLAID!!

The old pirate logs used to have static spawns at them, usally with some stuff in space too. The spawns have gone the stuff might still be there. Just need to get your hands on the item data. -----------------------------------------------

Wow. For a trader from Jita, seeing the Titan wreck in C9N-CC was thrilling. Posing next to it in my shuttle proved a problem, by the time I zoomed the camera out far enough to see the whole Titan, my shuttle was just a couple of pixels. It's an experience I'd recommend to anyone coasting along in empire.
I'm getting a taste for wandering, dropping my trading 'responsibilities' and going sightseeing might just be a metaphor of what I'd like to do in real life, so I'm going to go hard:) Keep the tourist destinations coming, and thank you:)

You could travel to Utopia in the constellation Heaven. Dunno if there are any sites to see, but at least you could say you found Utopia and visited Heaven in the same day, lol.

I'm gimping while my main account is down (Atomos Darksun)...
Again, I was in IAC so I had to use the pipe that went through Utopia.
I lost a Mega in Utopia once.

Well I've taken my fill of happysnaps next to Steve the Titan, now I'm off to see the graveyards of eve next.
OK, a question for 0.0 vets, I'm at 4-OUKF in the Esoteria region, when I try and jump through most gates around here, on the first try I fail - getting a message saying Traffic Control is currently offline. There's no-one around, is this normal?

I get that too, especially after DT. Not sure if there is a link between the two. Maybe noone has visited the system since the server went up and needs to initialize first.

It is perfectly normal, it just means noone has used that system since downtime. On the up side, it also means you know for sure noone will be on the other side ------------------------------------------

In the dev provided data dumps there is an entity called dbo_mapLandmarks. It contains the locations and descriptions of many of the places mentioned in this thread:
"1";"EVE Gate";"In the system of New Eden sits the impenetrable EVE Gate. Thousands of years ago the forefathers of all the human races used the gate to travel to the world of EVE. But the gate has been closed for a long time, a catastrophe that destroyed all planets in the New Eden system and plunged the fragile human settlements to the brink of extinction. Anyone foolish enough to get too close to the gate today will be ripped apart by the magnetic storms that still surround the massive gate.";"";"-284.886.865.234.000.000,00";"-35.924.255.371.100.000,00";"65.720.294.189.500.000,00";"12.749.633.789.100.000,00";"";"5";""
It's worth a look. [IMA6E REMOVED] |
