sounds like you summed it up quite nicely. Not that the Euro side of the atlantic is much better, the german media seem to have a very similar attitude to violence. (and their government right along with it)

I bet dutch primetime TV on some commercial channels would shock half of the people bashing mass effect into a coma.

Name one I dare you. You can't. They're either bashing each other over a political party, finding tabloid stuff, or trying to talk the country into another recession. That line is used by people who can't stand the idea that a news agency isn't kissing up to their democratic party.

News agencies are businesses and they put what sells ratings on their screens. Thats why we dont hear any good news from them. Thats why Iraq suddenly disappeared from their top 10 list. Thats why Brittany is always on the news. Groups like CNN and CBS get their kick from politics and "cultural sources" which is another way of say "tabloids from Europe". Fox has them beat and does all of the above which is why they have the highest ratings out of any agency.

They give people what they want and sadly thats not always a good thing.

You want solid news, go read a Wall Street Journal.

As usual the OP failed to mention that the reason for the outrage was the "digital nudity" and sex (which Gods of War had to deal with) being marketed towards underage kids (age old complaint for about anything) not against the game itself. Could have easily spared themselves by allowing it to be turned off by the parents who are the ones complaining about it and sold it to all ages just fine. Needless to say if the kid is still under 18 its still the parents choice to chose what they want their kids to get into.

Mass Effect is an awesome game btw.
