OK, well she/he has no clue what n00bs have issues with. Do you know how many n00bs autopilot to the gates ? How many of them complain that it takes ages to fly anywhere. How many times I've told 3 month old players how to modify their overview ? Players using Autopilot for 3 months !
Remove the clutter of NPC ships that does nothing but adds only confusion. Remove billboards, Remove sentry guns, but for the love of god, add stargates.
Here's a new player experience for you:
Undock - Lag out - wait as overview over fills with concord ships ( because n00bs like to shoot each other ) - hit autopilot to travel 8 jumps - fall asleep.
Seriously they couldn't have a worse experience. ___

uprawr!
but yeah I always have to show my friends how to turn it on asap when they start eve.
why not make it so once you leave the tutorial zone they trigger on?
really CCP, they need stargates for like the 1st tutorial mission.

Just because something is as designed does not necessarily mean it is what your customers want.
I highly recommend the designer in charge of the New Player Experience read this thread. It contains some very valid points.

Hint; Assign the Dev in charge of the NPE to a different task.
The fact that it's intentinal is even worse than it just being a mere oversight, after the revamped NPE.
Geez, there's so much crap in the default overview that isn't needed for the NPE. Stargates however, are essential to complete the NPE.
This
Not to mention the fact that every time i delete my cache or use a different computer, I have to go and remove all this useless clutter from the overview again.
To suggest that it's set up the way it is to remove clutter is rather painful.

I know the true reason for this.
CCP know full well that they're aging code cannot handle many more players. If EVE grows too fast the QoS will decline so drastically that the entire game will just fall apart.
This is why the UI is so bad, the learning curve is so steep, the tutorial and New Player Experience is so horrible and why the customer support (petitions/GMs) are so appallingly useless.
CCP deliberately discourage the majority of new players from sticking around. They need a steady influx of newbs for us vets to grief and harass, but they DON'T want most of them to play for more than a month or three. This is why stargates aren't on the overview by default, but useless stuff is. ________________________________________________________________

That has got to be the most embarrassingly stupid thing a Dev has ever been required to say on these forums. If I were you, I'd Mod that comment out of existence, pronto ------

Oh and enable complex to be shown on overview the first time if it is still off. It was so hard to look for a tiny icon in space the firts time I started playing Eve. I wasted like 15 minutes looking for a dot until I asked in local.
And shame on you Patch86 for calling the good doctor naem. It is not his fault you know ... --------- Technica impendi Caldari generis. Pax Caldaria!

QFT. More proof that any and everyone involved with the UI needs to be reassigned.

...
Come on CCP, you're smarter than that. WTS Game Design Basics 101.
Now if you're serious about the overview, how about letting only mission-critical large collidable structures show by default instead of all the useless junk we get ?
