you also want an "auto pilot - warp to zero" and a "warp all gang at the same time no matter the ship size" ?

I can see that everyone agrees that this is a good idea, so I tried to think about why it isn't.
Perhaps, this is in the realm of "tricks you learn along the way" like warp to 0km instead of using autopilot.
If the autopilot warped automatically to 0km, then .. hey - why the hell doesn't it!?!?! I guess to reduce congestion.
Point is, CCP could make many of these often-used tricks into standard options, but is that the best thing to do here?
Perhaps a solution would be to have a align-to option when navigation is at level V

guys I think we're going a little bit off-topic in typical eve-o forum style.
Just remember that this is about installing an "align my ship to command" nothing else.
I'm sure there are lots of other commands which could improve mobility or mess-up the game mechanics. However they are void of the point and could potentially be considered a thread hijack. Oh and for those who don't know the ISD does not like thread hijacking. So be careful guys.

Such a command would go great with my idea for a Main Gun type ship.

Edited by: CSH WhiteKnight on 26/01/2008 19:36:41 Tbh rather than an "align to" you should just have the option of "approaching" anything, regardless of distance.
To aid gang warps, you could also have "approach fleet to <object>".
Either way tho.. /signed

sounds like the same thing to me and I've seen this idea before it's all good.

I don't believe that this should be implemented.
I think that a 'dock fleet' button might be acceptable but an 'align fleet' option effectively just dumbs the game down too much, making it automative and uninvolving. While aligning might be a small part of gangs, it is still an integral part and as such it should stay in line with the rest of eve. You should have to be there, concentrating, to take part and align for yourself. If anything, the current system boosts working together and preparing for you main objectives.
Just my thoughts.
Edit: I came to this thread through the 'dock fleet' thread and even though I read the op fully I didn't notice it was a solo command option. But still, if this was implemented it would 1) make the fleet command option inevitable and 2) still make the game too automative.

I'm thinking how much miners would love this. They could always be aiming directly at their safepoint in case a hostile jumps in. Great idea!

Hello,
maybe I am too noob as a player, but what is exactly this "Align to" mean? Is it just that you have your ship pointing toward the place you would like to travel to? What is it good for? Hitting "Warp to..." and not having to wait for your ship to turn around?
Sorry if this is a very stupid question and maybe off-topic.
Regards,
