I know how some of you like analyzing things maybe you can help me resolve something.
I was in a 0.4 belt ratting in my Kestral when a wanaby player pirate showed up in his Thorax and started to lock me up.
My analysis of the situation at the time was to run and fight another day because of a few reasons.
#1 He has drones
#2 The Thorax can run a MWD forever thus controlling the engagement range.
#3 He has Med. Blasters that would shred my Kestral in no time at close range.
At the time my kestral had:
High:
4 standard missle launchers with Blood Claws (1k of them in cargo)
Med:
1 Scram 1 small shield booster 1 Afterberner and I think 1
small shield extender
Low:
2 Overdrive injectors
Now Mr wanaby player pirate was 3 months old and was flying a Thorax.
So what keeps me thinking is could I actually have been able to win the fight? My Kestral on AB can do just over 750 ms. I know the Thorax on MWD is something like 1.2k ms. But I have agility on my side so as he closes the distance my ship should go a diffrent direction if I chose to orbit at 15k.
Would he ever be in weapon range because of the agility diffrence and if he is would the speed and trajectory be too much for him to get a clean shot off. While all of this is going on would I be able to take out his drones?
Anyways something to think about and maybe you can put it to rest in my mind.

The agility wont help you with that speed difference, youd be within 10 and webbed followed by a quick death.

Std set on a thorax has a webber, scram and MWD even with the AB you'd still haven an issue keeping transversial up so the guns wouldn't get into you. second thing is that even if you managed to run from the guns and the guy didn't have a web... was he using light thermal drones? and how long under the drone DPS could you last?
There is a chance that you could have bested the thorax, but you skill level and piloting expertice would be the only thing to save you if the guy knew how to fit his ship at all.

No, there is no possibility you would have survived. If he had managed a lock then you'd have been scrammed, then rapidly webbed, then nanoseconds later, dead. You wouldn't even have had time to pop an expensive drone!
