Come on, you know it would be cool to get an extra 15% DPS if you used Gallente Navy Magstabs together with Gallente Navy blasters. There should be set bonuses for all the faction weapons. It would give us a reason to use them.

letting faction use T2 ammo would be enough to make there a tradeoff - fittings for dps.
But I agree.
I'd love to see a Navy Raven, with all navy stuff on it, getting some kind of set bonus.
Doesn't even have to be anything big. Couple of percent per mod perhaps, sorta 'pirate set' style? -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

While we're making changes, can we get modules colored green, blue, and purple, too? That way I know which ones are better than the others.

Also I'd like a spe.. module that steals the opponent's life. And the ability to rest - so that we can catch up with macroquesters.
Personally I see no sense in letting faction guns(unless t2 faction guns) use t2 ammo. And I see t2 ammo becoming less and less used short of specific kinds(Long range rail, AC, beam and arty ammo for example) - in favour of faction ammo. Let t2 use t2 but not faction, faction use faction. Normal use normal, or normal and faction. Right now, t2 gets all the best at no cost. Lots of reward to no risk.

i know i must have read that wrong but didn't you mean that short range T2 ammo isnt being used because short range faction ammo gives almost twice the dps? (T2 ammo having a 50% tracking reduction meaning you hit half as much so faction only doing a couple of dps less than T2 ends up doing about twice as much) but that's true with eve skills you have to take no risk to get them you can fly a dread without ever undocking no risk lots of reward

How about we not nerf t2 weapons by removing their ability to use faction ammo, ok?
Just because the t2 ammo got nerfed to oblivion doesn't mean we have to nerf guns to compensate. How about you unnerf t2 ammo to make it viable again?
And t2 does have increased fitting requirements over faction ...

Actually, with missile launchers, some of the faction mods actually have a higher cycle rate giving them better dps for standard or faction missiles. I know this holds true with Heavy launchers but then again I suppose there would need to be a reason to get a 70mil ISK launcher versus a 2.5 mil, and even then the difference is pretty small.

Significantly lower fitting requirements, same or better base stats as the t2 equivalent. The first reason alone makes it worthwhile because you can jam in better stuff in your mids and lows since you'll have more Grid/CPU to spare.

Edited by: Lyria Skydancer on 30/01/2008 03:33:21 Is there a suckage set bonus for fitting many lasers on a ship that cant handle the cap drain even with lvl 5 ship skill? Would be awsome. Also, would pilgrim get a suckage bonus for using more then one TD?

Really, most of the faction guns that can compare to tech II are far rarer and most of the time more expensive, not that "set items" (omg @ diablo II rip)would benefit anyone other than the farmers and mission *****s though.
It's great being Amarr isn't it.

We've thought about doing more sets, the pirate sets are an example of how we differentiated the pirate implants vs their empire counterparts. It's not on our schedule right now, but with more people coming in, we might find the time and the people to add more sets and even have cross-item sets (like ship+module sets). However, part of the whole thought is that there are industries where we'd like players to enter without usurping the current value chains (implants manufacturing etc.) and there, sets might be the key to have them valuable without affecting directly the implant sources today.

Sigh, if Large Gun 5 was all it took... but no, gotta have small and med rail spec too, something I'm unlikely to use very often, if ever. The other req otoh, Sharpshooter, that's actually useful.
Also, it's not pointless for PvE at all, at least not on the grid gimped Domi, or any of the Laser boats.

Good idea to boost Faction items, but as a whole not good, since those items will still be competing with T2 directly and what counts in the end is raw DPS and price.
I would rather have more Faction items with stats not between T1 and T2 and more affordable. Amarr Navy EANM, Republic Fleet web/scram are good examples, but why not go all the way and make e.g. a Faction EANM with different resists for the damage types (e.g. 10 EM, 20 therm, 30 kin, 30 expl) or shield hardeners with such attributes. Or a weird MWD with only half the speed boost but less mass increase and cap use. Faction ammo with varying damage types, RoF, tracking and ranges (e.g. extremely long range torps but only 1 damage type).
EVE Online: a cold, cruel world where (RL-)rich people replace their losses with GTCs sold to poor students who need to farm ISK to afford their play time ...

Maybe not such a bad idea, though 15% added dps is way *way* too much. 5% as an absolute maximum added bonus maybe.

Yes i have, and no i don't think that game is balanced. i have played through too many patches on WoW where a balance change was withdrawn a week later because they though about it.
Besides, balancing a game like WoW compared to Eve, is like comparing Hungry Hungry Hippos to a Rubix cube.

If you think WoW as a whole game is less complex then eve then youre dreaming. Yes warlocks are a bit out of line but its not like EVERYONE plays a warlock. Its not like in eve where there are significantly less amarr ships compared to caldari and gallente flying around in space. Set bonuses done the right way could be pretty cool. Regarding the faction vs t2 guns, the thing making faction guns look in awe of their t2 counter parts, is the fact that the t2 guns gets more bonuses from the specialization skills. Maybe it was never intented but I for one would love putting my small faction cannons to some use.
