Seriously, when you place a post for a char sale, and it gets knocked to page 3 or 5 within 10 minutes from people bumping GTC sales (Sometimes 10+ times a day with 6 diffrent posts) its dumb. The time has come for the GTC sellers to get their own section or even remove them (forum wise) all togeather!

let me just say this for the sake of a counterargument:
useful as this idea may be to all the people who use this forum, I can't imagine CCP staff physically going though what is now 1785 pages of threads with GTC and character sales, and moving existing threads to new forums seems like a must if they decide to separate character and GTC sales.
having seen the level of agreement of people in this thread, it should be plain obvious that people WANT to see GTC and charcater sales separated. which brings me to my next point. whether or not CCP decide to do this will ultimately show their level of commitment to their players. other than the time it would take to sort existing threads, I can't see a single reason for why it shouldn't be done.
if they ignore this request it will show that they are incompetent and incapable of satisfying their customer's requests, much like they have not been bothered to fix certain critical bugs in EVE for years or even acknowledge their existance. if, on the other hand, they step in and agree to split this forum in two, we'll see that hope is not lost and some good things may still come out of CCP.

Honestly, I'd perfer if they just deleted the GTC and character bazaar and have everyone remake their threads in the new forums. This'll reduce number of hours required for setup and at the same time will clean out threads that no one watches anymore.

Seriously there is no need to go through this whole section manually. First off you can delete any thread that is older than 3 months. For the rest a simple algorithm would be capable of identifying 90% of all GTC threads for the simple reason that most of them have some form of ' GTC ' (note the spaces) in their title. Character sales usually don't have that which makes false positives most unlikely. Any GTC threads remaining as false negatives in the character section would be easily identified by minimal manual effort as the number of pages would be well below 100 ^^ (just a guess)

Just looked at 1 GTC sale thread... bumped 4 mins after creation then again in another 8. That is MINUTES!!! Not hours... that is just rediculous. Also there is a report button available on threads, I wonder what would happen if all the signers of this thread started hitting the report button only on the bumps, it is against the forum rules so I don't see what that button is for if not this.

I think I am gonna start doing this... once per day I will report all the bumps of 1 ETC thread on page 1 that are within 1 day. It is getting out of hand having hundreds of ETC sellers bumping their threads every couple minutes.

Why not, instead of building a timecard forum, establish a web-based buy and sell order system?
Then I could just go and put in my timecode in a sell order saying I want 180M for it or vice versa, put up my 180M for a time card, and not have to surf over eighty billion ended sales?
I mean, anyone who plays EVE is familiar with the basics of such a system, and it seems to work for Three Rings in their dubloons for pieces of eight system.

To be honest... the entire selling/buying on a forum is kinda inefficient. Do it either ingame or make a good marketplace on the forum where you can actually search what you are looking for. With the GTC selling it's always a question where the seller wants to be contacted and no matter what the answer.. nobody cares!

As said before, a very good idea would be to built a whole new site for this, the forum solution is just barely enough to support this.
a new site for posting/requesting GTC/Characters.
One login, make a new sale for lets say a GTC:
Create GTC Sale (or somthing like that):
How much to sell for: x isk
Code: GTC code
Announce button.
Click and it's up
A buyer then want a GTC for around the same price:
Logs in
Search for GTC
How much to buy for: x isk
Search
click and a list of GTC sales that fits the criteria (around the same amount of isk) comes up
He clicks buy on one that fits hes needs.
Take money from buyer wallet, put them in sellers, add x days of time to buyers account!
It's that simple.
The same can go with characters, you could CCP could even make their own skill list, automaticly generated from the character who is beeing sold (they got the API for it, now for some awsome use).
input bid: x isk
increase: x isk
buyout: x isk
snipe rule: yes/no, input minutes
Then the same system for buyers, for the GTC.
There you have it, clean and easy system to do GTC/Character trades, with no bumpage, tons upon tons of forum posts and lost posts in place, that's not very good for this kind of sale.

I only come here to sell ETC's and I agree with this. The bumbage/churn for ETC's is insane. Character auctions are long term and have no chance to compete for space in this forum and deserve their own.

It's so not hard for the CCCP to open up there Cpanel and bring up the forums and make a new channel in order to seperate the GTC from Character sales. But obviously they dont care enough to do so, and since there not going to lose customers over it they probably never will do anything about it...

It would have to be done well though. If done like the current in-game market system, you would have to spend hours watching it and adjusting your price because you are being constantly undercut. Perhaps some time limit on updating/canceling your request to sell or buy...

I really don't see the big deal as to why CCP has NOT seperated char sales and GTC sales. I would only take one person a couple of hour to complete. This would make the final experience better for all! I vote for GTC sellers having a separate section, hard to find anything related to the character sales, also ask for a better system of auto removal of old posts, for instance if key words are used in the title remove the posts. I am sure this has been said in the 9 pages.

If someone was looking to buy a Character i'd think they'd look through this froum and find them one for them. People Should be able to bump there GTC till there sold. There can't be that many people sellign GTC. But if there were 15 people seling GTC at the same time i could see your reasoning. Maybe a Sort delay in how often you can bump your post to the first page is needed. But If that time exspires and you are still on the first page. Then WTF. There was no need to bump. But yeah people will find your characters if they wish to buy. If they don't try investing in more Sp.

The same reason applies to GTC. Why can't a GTC seller post a statement to ask simply: first x posters gets the isk where x is the number of GTC they have. Instead of the usual, its sent or bump every minute.

There is a greater demand than supply. Still, consider how many of the accounts are fed via GTC in eve. The transaction happens almost entirely via eve-o forum advertisement. Try to look at the recent thread via previous thread link in the forums. There isn't a lack of sellers and I never have trouble finding them for my alts.

There is already a delay. Once a day with exception of the isk receiver post. The time expires and you are on page 15 or higher is an issue on some days (weekend). Try to sell your character when it gets burried that deep and you will know the pain.

I have to agree on the point of this topic, generally I've noticed a decline in character sale prices because they just don't get the visibility they need. And of course trying to find characters from all the GTC topics is just silly.
It wouldn't be a hard change to implement for sure, so how about it? I've got a char sale coming up sooner or later, so...

You'd probably get more results if you all file petitions requesting this new forum - I can't imagine why there would be a problem with putting one up as it makes perfect sense.

while we have 19+ pages of requests here, CCP are busy rolling out patches for 1% of the players which break eve for the rest of the players. oh, and did I mention that every patch took longer than anticipated 3 hours (3 hours for a ONE FIX patch) due to "unexpected problems". yeah. put your money where your mouth is.

Flood control. Limit every account to no more than 1 consecutive post per thread per 24 hours (somebody else has to post in the thread in order for the previous poster to post again). Prevent trial accounts from posting in the sale/want/gtc forums (they have no business there anyway). Really not that complicated to do coding-wise, though I have no idea what the actual forum software is. Might be a little better for CCP's reputation than continuing to ignore the disgustingly rampant rule-breaking.

How long do you really need to discuss this?
The cons for doing this is really just get down changing the forums, yes that mean work and no carebearing around the coffe machine in your office for that day!
The pros: Much much better market conditions for people selling characters, this may lead to more people selling chars and more transfer fees for CCP  more and better carebear office coffee once completed
Enough red tape, this is an overdue issue but you can still save face by apply these changes quickly.

I rarely even look in this forum tbh. But I was just looking for a low sp Toon to buy, and I have to say is SUCKS trying to find characters in here. I can only imagine what the people who commonly buy/sell characters or GTC's must go through.

/signed, it's a joke as it is right now. It shouldn't exactly be difficult to implement, and if you really need to gauge if it's needed then try selling a character yourself and see how fun it is to have it on page 5 after an hour and not being able to bump it until the next day.

well, to be comepltely honest i just dont see why you need to ponder for so many days on this issue. Its crystal clear isnt it ? I think if CCP does not want to implement it, then they should say so and actualy comment on decision. It has to be really good and strong reason not put this change forward, given how easy it is to do and given how much anxiety it causes to player community.

I suspect they will nerf the forums to stop them becoming too overpowered, and then try and rebalance them over several years to get it right.
