Edited by: Yeomanmeister VIII on 31/01/2008 05:54:23 right, heres the situation. i hav a coercer, 8 million and 8 days before i can use my cruiser and for the life of me cant do lvl 2 missions.
current setup: 6-8 Dual Anode light particle streams w/IR-s 0-2 Salvagers cold-gas arcjet thrusters small 1-a polarised repairer 2 energised adaptive membranes 100mm crystalline carbonide plate
i hit 1 mil skill points about 10 minutes ago so i am still pretty n00b. i dont have the dps or the armour to take on the groups and the elctronic attack frigates are too fast to kill before they start to eat my kleenex power defenses. i know people use coercers for lvl 2 missions, how and could it be done on my budget?
i have about 500,000 in gunnery (most on small lasers) and 200000 in mechanic.

Remove plate, add more resist or capacitor. Use specific energized membrane or active hardeners.

only slight problem is that i dont really have much cpu left and cant use another energised plate, also, i use the plate because adds around %30 more armour as opposed to the small resistance and has only a small veolocity penalty. i also dont have the cap to use the repairer in battle so raising resistance doesnt serve much of an advantage in that respect.

Train Destroyer, Controlled Burst, and other cap skills up, if you are serious in using the Coercer to blow stuff up.
Also train Electronics.. I ran out of PG first before CPU.. -----

Drop the repper. Fit faction specific hardners.
Missioning Coercer 6-8 Medium Pulses (Modulated if you can afford them) AB DC, 2x Hardners, MAPC or 200m RT plate depending on how many pusles you fit.

caps only really a problem wen im usin ab, lasers and repair which im avoiding doing. the problem was on illegal activity 1/3, where the support frigates approch at over 1000m/s and web you, and the officer along with the remains fly up and eat away.

im nowhr near faction items. would hardeners be better than energised plating? dc? mapc? im so confused... and the armour repairer is so i can jump 2 the next place nd regen.
also, im under the impression that its got terrible tank so wouldnt range be the better option
Faction specific, as if you are going against Blood Raiders fit a thermal and EM hardner or if you going against Angels fit Explosive and Ken.. Etc.. You fit to resist the damage type the NPCs you are doing up against use.
DC = Damage Control unit. Never leave home without your suitcase. MAPC = Micro Auxilary Power Core. The most basic gives you +10 power.
Reason why the repper is pretty much a wasted slot is that you can't use it to add to your tank, it eats your cap and your lasers are cap hungry. If you train up Fuel Conservation to III the ab should barely dent your cap and it takes less than a day.

Personally, if you want to go for range in L2 missions then you might consider something like:
8x dual light beams 1x 10mn Afterburner 2x Power Diagnostic Systems 2x Cap Power Relays
Though if you're barely *****ing 1m SP you'll probably need 3 or 4 PDSes to get the grid to fit a 10mn AB and 8 lasers but if you spend a little extra money for named instead of just T1 modules you should get the cap regen to make up for it.
With my skills (and bear in mind that my main who I'm running these numbers on, while having sucky amarr-specific skills, has fairly good support skills) I'm pulling 58 raw DPS at 18km optimal range using dual anode beams with an afterburner speed of 954 m/s and I can keep both it and the lasers running non-stop.
I can't think of any L2 missions where with nearly 1km/s of speed you can't keep range open and on some missions, like Recon, being able to go that fast will be of more importance than any sort of tank you might be able to put on the ship.
It won't give you the best DPS but you should easily control range and, from everything I've seen, if you can keep your targets past 10km from you you can take most hits on passive shield regen until you find a cruiser shooting at you.
Or you could, and mind you I am not recommending this at all, go really sacriligious and shield-tank it (medium shield extender, lots of shield power relays). ____________________
