I remember enjoying those back in the day, and I now that I looked them up I still think they are pretty nice.

OMG, I forgot about that game completely. One of the only console games I ever really played and graphically beautiful even on the PS1. I must have competed it over 10 times - truely a unique game.

soulblade on the ps had a funky song for an intro, and thunderforce IV had a great techno intro for the time -------------------------------------------- Threads are stacking-nerfed; the more posts you add the less effective those posts are. mooooooo. |

For sheer comedy and storytelling, you can't beat the Monkey Island series (sorry for the sound, was the best I could find in the time available). The intro to number three is especially good, once you get past the credits. Drops you nicely into the story.

Ascendancy - granted, it's a bit dated now, but was a great intro.
And I was immediately reminded of it when I started eve :p ----------------

I know friends were always shocked to see but really..someone out there must share my lack of interest for an intro and impatience?

oh god, yeah!
on the subject of great intros, i wish with all my heart that Eve had a decent intro movie. something like the Evolution trailer, rather than a tedious slideshow.
DISCLAIMER: i've never watched all the way through the Eve intro, i normally get bored around the half hour mark, so it might get really good at the end for all i know. Signature removed. Too large and flashing signatures are not really permitted. Navigator |

are you mad?!
it's part of the 'thing'. you get a new game, you're all excited about playing it and carry it home clutched tightly in sweaty fists, excitedly flicking through the manual, all the while willing it to install faster as you switch repeatedly back and forth between the seven installation CDs, before you finally watch the intro movie, awestruck...
before you discover that your graphics drivers are out of date, it needs to be patched to version 1.0281.3b with a 4 gig download and it's actually an expansion pack for a game you don't own in the first place. Signature removed. Too large and flashing signatures are not really permitted. Navigator |

Hellgate London Intro/Trailer
Universe at War: Earth Assault Intro
Perhaps not the greatest intros of all time (infact, i doubt it) but they're both pretty good for recent games.

Edited by: Braaage on 08/02/2008 11:25:36 I remember a Commodore 128 game that was based around Them (giant ants) and it had one of the most jaw dropping openings I will ever see for it's time. I used to play it over and over and over just to watch it and the voice over was spine chilling.
Just wish I could remember the full title and chances of finding that on youtube are slip to none.
Edit - found it, it was called "It came from the desert" -- eve-guides.com All about POSs, Outposts, Exploration, Mining, Invention, EVE Database + much more!! |

Hell - the intro, the cut-scenes, and the finale are a majority of what I play single-player games for :p ----------------

Dune 2, hands down. Not only visuals were thrilling, but music was perfect as well. I think it was released in 1993, and I still remember it 15 years after.

I've always been a huge fan of the final fantasy intros, especially FF10
Although its not an intro, i loved this scene from Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Some amazing videos in that game I'm highly biased about most things, but it has nothing to do with the overall view of my corp or alliance |
