"duuune, the battle for arrakissss", that game has a stompin soundtrack and i still sometimes load it up, sure the computer cheats (will rebuild a blown up construction yard, etc :D) but it introduced me to RTS when i was like 10 <3 -------------------------------------------- Threads are stacking-nerfed; the more posts you add the less effective those posts are. mooooooo. |

man, i used to love the lucasarts point'n'click adventures.
and if you can ignore the rubbish resolution and dodgy animation, their funky cartoon style still stands up today. the full throttle intro was cool too; best theme music in a point and click adventure game evar.

Screw any of this 'plot' crap in the opening. With Oni, you know right from the start that you're there to chew bubblegum and kick ass (bubblegum is optional).

The song is "Legacy" by The Gone Jackals. If you can find it, the Bone to Pick album is a decent purchase, although it suffers from some sub-par sound engineering.
...what am I saying, "if" you can find it? The likes of Amazon Marketplace has made finding odd albums far too easy these days. One of the things I used to really look forward to on trips to the US was finding the used record stores and coming home with a metric shedload of albums that were great and almost impossible to get in Europe. Still like doing that, but the thrill is significantly reduced.
Anyway, back to the subject: This thread brought back memories of the Intros the c.racking crews used to slap onto the "releases of questionable legality" for the Amiga 500. I really got into those, to the point where I would get a copy of a game from someone because it had a really well made intro. So much more challenging than the ascii-art that the current generation of warez people pop into the archive file. But I guess people just aren't willing to accept the disruption to the game entering process anymore. I know I am somewhat miffed at the fact that to load up Crysis I have to skip seven logo animation/advertising screens.

i used to love those. bizzarely i was chatting to some guy who used to be in TSR on a random motorbike forum a while ago, apparently a lot of the old faces are still on the Demo scene (look on youtube and stuff!) but the *****ing scene is a pale shadow of what it used to be.
also, circumventing the word filters is a bannable offence. consider this a warning. ;P

God there is too many to list tbh how ever ppl have posted many winners here :
- Fallout series , even fallout tactics since it was at least decent graphics. - Starcraft was probably one of the first jaw droppings for me . - Diablo 2 with all its cut scenes , i mean geez those are even still amazing. - Independance wars part 1 , part 2 was a bit meh imo. - MYTH Series , last one MYTH The wolf age was one of the few games that gave me a back chill tbh , the story line was byound epic and the cut scences even the narrating was brilliant , music was A++. - Dawn of war and Warhammer Mark of chaos are the most recent ones i can recall. - War Hammer dark omen , very old game but its prob the grand dad of WH Mark of chaos. - War Craft II , my first ever strategy game always has a spechial place - RED Alert 1 , the rest were just like soap operas. - Emperor battle for dune , the sound track was also a keeper. - Imperium gallactica II . - Baldurs gate and ICE wind dale seriesand Never winter nights series are all epic and unmatched so far. - Mech caommander II - Dues Ex part 1 , best game EVAR 11111. - Home world , catclysm also , part 2 was mehhh , how ever the first home world will always be the master peice.
My top Fav which no one has mentioned yet will be Max Payne , omg this was like Sin city style game with a novel as a story line , god i loved that game soo much in both its parts.

Warcraft 3 and the subsequent Thrall's vision cinematic were pretty rockin too.
Also LBA 2 for nostalgia and awesomeness.
I also still watch the EVE intro from time to time. (Yes, eve has an intro) ------------------------------------
